What rhymes with Saturday?... Scotch night!!
Am drowning my sorrows, fellow gamers. A great loss to the family home has occurred. We did everything we could to revive her. Spared no expense. However, today we had no choice but to pull the plug

A few weeks ago we were hit by a short but violent storm. The gaming area was on the back patio and a tarp was filling in for the roof till I had the time to fix it. Said tarp wasn't stormproof and everything got drenched.
Almost everything was waterproof and thankfully there were no models present. Lost a few WIP terrain pieces, but they can be rebuilt. The real damage came to the WIP gaming table. Had the actual tabletop since 2nd ed and was going to build a body for her.
The board was resting on a stack of bookshelves at one end, (to house all forms of rules and codex's), and a set of map draws at the other end, (to store a truckload of models). Nothing was attached yet and there was nothing supporting the table in the middle.
Once the table became wet and with the weight of full boxes on top, she bowed like Grandma's back. Now, you may ask, why so sad. Just replace the blessed thing, right? Some things can't be replaced. You see there was personal history attached to this table.
This table wasn't just my gaming table but my workbench for terrain and spraying models. There were silhouettes of every model I've ever sprayed since 2nd ed. Every outline had fond memories attached to it. The unmistakable shape of a Leman Russ. Several half moon shapes from the many, many grav-tanks over the years. Truckloads of circles representing troop bases. A mix of different colours. Black, white, Dark Angels green, Blood Angels red and more.
Honestly, you could have hung this on the wall and every gamer everywhere would have called it art. Plus, my Daughter may or may not have been conceived on this masterpiece. Anyhoo, this happened weeks ago. Have done everything possible to straighten her again, (the table, not my Daughter).
Even called in a cabinet maker mate of mine to give it a go. After looking at me like I had lost my mind, he gave me a few suggestions that ultimately didn't work. So! Today! With a heavy heart! We laid her to rest on the back of the ute and took her to the tip
