What went right. In a nutshell, I brought a Firestorm. It faced down 5 Tyranid flying MCs, a Nightwing fighter and helped take down no less than 4 Dreadknights. My other go to unit was a full squad of kabalite warriors in a raider. The shear amount of splinter weaponary is awesome and did me proud. However after the first salvo they effectively painted a large target on their backs and died not long after.
What went wrong. Nothing! I had a great time and really enjoyed playing with my army.
I think what you're after is how I could improve
Well I didn't come last but there were an awful lot of people above me in the rankings. I the end I think I came out 44th out of 50. (G00gle5 will be able to tell you better)
I took a Corsair army consisting of the models I had in my collection (and had been hastily painted I may add) plus a small unit of Wraithguard. As such the list was not optimised in any way shape or form and I suffered for it.
As far as I'm concerned Corsair excel in two areas.
- We are fast - we are as fast as any eldar army
- High strength spam - we can put out a rediculous amount of high strength firepower.
Where we lack
- Close combat. Unless we take a cc Aspect from our Craftworld allies we have NO specialist assault troops.
How to build a competative Corsair army is still very much under consideration.
The way I'm thinking at the moment is that a stand off list is the best way to go. Cram as many S6/8 weapons into the list then attempt to out manopuvre and shoot the enemy to death.
If you look at how to win games then;
Corsair jetbikes are even more dangerous than the CWE ones so use of these for cheeky late objective grabbing.
First blood should be ours if we get first turn. Warlord is unlikely unless we get lucky with a long ranged shot. or if we can blast him and his retinue off the board.
We are going to suffer against the likes of Blood Angels and Grey Knights (doesn't everyone
) as they can bring us into combat effectively.
One big boon of the list is the Nightwing and the Phoenix. These are arguably the best flyers in the game and can be used to devestating effect. at the moment there are not many AA units in the game and so Corsair who dominate here have an edge, Zilverscale I'm looking at you
I think the Corsair list is a great add on to any Eldar army but I think its a fluffy army and doesn't have the stamina to go toe to toe with full competative armies.
At present I'm not working on my Corsairs but in the future I'll be investing in some jetbikes and possibly a couple of Hornets.
