Title: Summer Painting Challenge [Month 1/3]
Post by: Kitsune Tsuki on June 1, 2007, 10:40:23 PM
Welcome to the June Painting Challenge. We are now into the 2nd year of these, first under Loydb, Khemri Demon, Serious Callers Only and now me. The goal of this challenge is to get some of that unpainted lead that most of us have laying around table-ready. At the start of each month, participants pledge to have a squad painted by the closing date.

I will update this post with a list of people who wish to vow.

RULES

1. Vows will be frozen 10 days after the start of the challenge. There is no changing of *any* vow after day 10. Say what you'll paint, then paint what you say. If you don't already own the models you want to paint, I suggest not making the vow until you do.  Vows are still accepted after the 10th, but they can not be changed afterward.

2. This is more of a request than a rule. *Please* post work in progress pics if you possibly can. One of the best things about the thread is watching stuff come together.  It's perfectly fine if you don't post any photos, however.

3. I need to know unit sizes when you post your vows.

FAQ
Q: Do I have to do Games Workshop figs?
A: No. Several people make Warmachine vows, myself included.  Feel free to do vows based on any game system.

Q: I need to change my vow!
A: You have until Day 10 of the month.

Q: What if I don't have a camera?
A: We operate on the honor system. If you say you did it, we believe you. There are no prizes, so you only get the satisfaction of lying on the internet if you choose to do so.

Q: Will you do one of these every month?

A: That's the goal. Assuming the board manages to stay up

Q: Hey, what if we finish our vow but decide to paint more?
A: Paint away! If you mean, can you get a head start on next month, I guess so. But it's kind of cheesy to make a vow with a 75% painted unit at the start of the month...

I swear by the Emperor, I will paint the following by the end of the month:

Terminator Squad x 5 with the teleport beacon

Dreadnought with extra armor.

Instead of the Command Squad, I'll be painting a 10 man tactical squad instead, since I have a more pressing need for them.

Pics will soon follow, I've already airbrushed the black base coat on all earlier tonight.

Vows Updated.

Vayl's done, but she was already 50% there.  Been that way for a couple months.  Sort of rushed her, because I wanted her done.  May add another highlight on the metals.  She still needs to be based and have her front arc painted.

Got a couple of hours in last night and I have my master mostly blocked in, with a start made on shading. I'm doing him the way No Remorse did that one for Asreus a few months back - fully magnetic, all options available. One man, but three left arms, four right arms, two heads, three backpacks, and a banner.

Oh, and my Rhino is now another razorback Akriel. I decided to take the plunge and get some of those foundation paints, so I got an extra turret while I was at it.

Myung, is that the third or fourth army completed this year? I remember you doing your tau, necrons and BA in these vows. What's next? I notice from your sig that you have no DE or Chaos.

wel I had completed my IG, but then sold 80% of it and rebought newer kits/models so sitting on my shelf is 100+ Guardsmen and like 12 vehicles to build and paint! the building part makes me want to cry.

I had finished my Eldar but then sold almost all my man size models as I wanted the newer shinner ones so I rebought them, so like 80 models to paint(atleast they're all built!)

I have done most of my BA but I still have like 2 more tactical squads 1 devestator, 1 assualt squad and like 4 vehicles to finish out my full 2nd company

but I have completly finished my Tau and Necrons this past year and this will be my 3rd completed army in 12 months.

I could maybe one day do DE but I will never do Chaos....I just don't like em!

oh and btw I finished 2 squads and my 5 girl sara squad lastnight. (I had started them last week after I had finished last months vow) Primed my last 10 girl squad and put togther the rhinos and even magnetized all the bwitty little bits like the banners and dozer blades and Laud Hailers on em.

I am really sick of putting togther Rhino Chassis vehicles ><

OK, gonna actually do get around to doing something this time around, and I've got the cameras too.  Woop woop.

Got two Warmachine Battleboxes on Friday, and assembled them all this morning (Ugh).  Cygnar and Cryx.

So I, for June shall paint:

Commander Coleman Stryker
Charger Light Warjack
Lancer Light Warjack
Ironclad Heavy Warjack

Warwitch Deneghra
Deathripper Bonejack x2
Defiler Bonejack
Slayer Helljack

Anyways, the built models.  I am literally feeling sick from all the accidentally ingested superglue and greenstuff that came while building these guys, and chewing all the greenstuff.  Luckily, greasy hamburger should make that go down when I go out to lunch as a reward for this hard work.

Dreadnought is finished. Bought the tactical squad today (and one of those cool new Librarians) and have started assembly.

Laying in the base blue on the Terminators this week.

I'm just going to break down and buy a digital camera on my credit card, since borrowing one is getting to be a pain. I promise pics to follow soon.

I'll be adding to my vow in the coming days, it should end up being something like this, but I'll give you a final version before the 10th:

3 Rhinos
2 Dreadnaughts
1 Land Raider Crusader
~Not sure how many marines yet, minimum of 20 or so, maximum upwards of 80.

As for my progress, three rhinos are done, I hope to paint the 2 dreads tomorrow and the LRC on wednesday.

IVE FINALLY GOT THE PAINTING BUG BACK. I think painting eldar was the issue with me, I had trouble getting enthused with them after painting them for thelast 6 years, a break was in order to a different style of mini, and...SM, i finally broke down :)

looking good Eothen.  I've always loved the Angels of Absolution.  Whats with the yellow breastplate wings though?

@ Nubis.  that looks like a pretty hefty lot there.  I'm a sucker for those little bone jack things or whatever they are called.  I've always wanted to get some and 'count as' them as hounds or something.

Yeah, there's no way I'm doing all of it this month.  I've got 5 of the death chicken bonejacks in that lot, along with one more that needs to be reassembled (Need to get a bunch of old glue and crap out of it first though), and will probably pick up two or four more when I'm done with the stuff for the Vow to get a decent spell Assassination list together with Denny or my Witch Coven.  As of right now I only have 8 Warmachine models unassembled, one being the Bonejack, the others being Lich Lord Terminus (who's half built - the 'easy' half, that is) and a box of Satyxis, neither of which I'm really looking forward to building.

Got the second layer of glue on today, so with any luck I'll be able to spray some stuff later today after work, and maybe even get the black touchup layer on.

Ok, the first pictures of my vow.

I shall edit this post with further pictures up until the end of the month, when, god willing, I shall be finished :D and all of the slots will be filled. I'll link to most of the pictures to save all your poor browsers having to load 16 of them ;D.

Photos of wracks and swamp gobbers.  I'm very happy with the flesh on both the gobbers and the wrack.  P3 flesh colors are fantastic.  I forgot to paint the crow and the rocks on the wrack.  I also have to paint front arcs on both models.

Dare I pledge?

this will be the third month and so therefore I'll go with third time lucky for my Wraithlord - she is sooooo almost finished, it would be criminal not to finish her this month, even if I cannot do any until after Tues 12th as I have an exam.
I will also pledge to paint my first ever Beastmen regiment from scratch - no headstart on these, I need to get used to painting regiments quickly and just to tabletop standard otherwise theres' no point starting WHFB as I'll just end up doing what I did with WH40k, lot's of models - no paint :(

So 1 Wraithlord
   12 Gors
     8 Ungors

nicely done Magus.

I hate to be a pain in the arse but i need to significantly cut back my vow.  I haven't even assembled anything yet besides the crisis suit.  This is going to be a busy month for me in general and I also want to work on building and converting some stuff.  As such i need to drop the Kroot and the Devilfish and its drones.

So my new more realistic goal will be:

1 crisis suit
4 drones

sorry about that.

ha ha.  looking good.  looking thin.  I notice you didn't constrain the proportions when you resized (or something happened).  Consequently he is slimmed down a bit.  which is good I guess because a lot of people think he looks too fat.  I've been wanting to get my hands on one of those for my Imperial Fists.  though I already have two termie librarians. :P

are you skipping the big back banner book thingy?

the blue looks very good.

OK fixed the thin Librarian....the camera adds 30 lbs. !

Thanks, Ghost. That means a lot coming from someone with such a nice collection as yerself! Yes, I didn't like the big book thingy on his back, I liek a simpler model and there are plenty of books on him already for me to worry over (damned thin ass pages!!!).

My Craftworld uses blue a lot so I have a favorite technique for it. I am still trying to get that car finish look on the armor though, with a horizon line and such. I liek him so far though. Did the rest of the "bone" colored areas tonight as well but I'm too lazy for a pic. I have set aside some time tomorrow to finish him (I hope!) so he'll be up tomorrow night.

Thanks Ailaros.  And thanks Nurgleboy as well.  Every time i go to the store to pick up some broadsides for my seriously lacking in anti tank Tau army, they are always out.  So this guy is supposed to be a sort of pseudo heavy support dude with his twin linked fusion blasters.  I wanted to bulk him up a bit.  I'm pretty happy with him

Coming along.  I am almost done with the first coat (out of three) of red gore.  Just need to do the flamers.  Will be done shortly but I wanted to snap off some shots before my roomates go to bed as the computer is in their room and that will be the end of computerage for me for the night.

here we are.  the areas (besides the flamers) that are purple will be the secondary color which is the maroonish color extreme highlighted with red gore as on the stealth suits.  what do you think?  should i leave the shoulder pads as that secondary color or just make them red or a bit of both as in the leg?

@ WebGhost
You have to be one of the most prolific posters on these boards.
I went to your profile to find your stealth teams, which as I remembered are beautiful, and I think you should do the pads on this XV8 as you suggested you should leave the shoulder pads as the secondary colour.

This is only a suggestion and as an Eldar player I am used to a riot of colour on my tabletop.
Whilst Tau are highly homogenous and individualism is frowned upon, as a painter I feel your army lacks something of a visual centrepiece to relieve the eye from all the red.
I notice that as yet you haven't any Kroot and that in one post you mentioned buying the battleforce as it had stuff that you needed, is there a plan to add some, other, colour in the form of Kroot?
Or would you consider a Shadowsun type general that would contrast, paint scheme-wise, with the rest of the army?

Btw I love your work keep up the high standard. You make me weep with the speed of your painting and it's quality.

looks great Nurgleboy.  You've inspired me to get one of those dudes.

@Khal Ynnoth.  I came to the same conclusion as you a little while ago on the red thing.  Yes it looks cool as it is a neat color but the whole army lacks a little flavor because of the uniformity.  While I originally wasn't too interested in the Kroot, I decided some straight up GW color scheme, green, Kroot would add some diversity to the overall scheme of the army.  While at first I was just going to do it for the aesthetic benefits, I've since really gotten into their rules and am eager to get them into my list.  I actually ended up buying a battleforce (the small one) which has twelve Kroot.  they were originally in this months vow but as they are still unassembled I took them out.  I will probably start putting them together tonight (or work in this suit.)

On the speed and prolific.  usually I paint dreadfully slow.  I convert like crazy as well and usually i never want to paint because I never think I'm done with the conversion work.  The Tau don't require much conversion IMO so that has helped out.  Also the color scheme doesn't require much shading/mixing and blending up, just lots of layers and some extreme highlighting.  I guess this helps speed them up.  Still though, after 3 and half months I can still barely make a 1200 point list ???   However, I have done a lot of the numbers elements of the army, drones, FWs etc.  so I should be able to focus on crisis suits and such to get my points up faster in the future.

thanks for the advice everyone.  I'm going to go work on it me thinks.

the purple is just a base coat for a different color.

I've been working on this thing and I think I will leave the flamer barrels black.  Ususally they are painted the armor color.  I did this on one arm and it made the arms look longer.  If I leave it black, it keeps the model looking stubbier which i think I like.

BTW, I've seen a lot of  this dude's stuff  (http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=7519) recently and I've been thinking of doing a similar camo pattern on some suits.  Do you think this would work with the scarlet and the maroon secondary color?  More of a tiger shark type pattern though.  hmmm.  probably should just keep it simple but I think I'll need something for tanks and broadsides maybe.

Progress!

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi10.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa118%2Fbastionguard%2FModels%2Fvow%2520june%2Fbatlleboxprogress.jpg&hash=0271e8908d5230fa6298500be9d2ee146232f067)

Depending on how soon I finish up the Battlebox, I may add the Defender I picked up today to my Vow, which would give me all the models for both Battlebox games and my 350 Stryker list.

Started on the eldar in my vow, 11 days to go before games day, its going to be some looonnggg days.

The falcon which is the biggest issue is almost done, however I'm going to punch whoever at gw put together kommando khaki. I'd rather paint white over black, the coverage would be better! Anyone know of an equivalent shade in another paint line that has better coverage? Because honestly... I cant take anymore kommando khaki, and its the only thing I've found that looks right as the base for my wraithbone (i shade up using bleached bone from it).

Agh...something like 40 models to go...

My Bone progression is Graveyard, Khaki,B. Bone, B. Bone/white, white. I actually use the coverage issues to add more blending. Put the khaki on the model (leaving a gap of GE at the darkest part) and "push" it towards the lighter edge. The thinner area showing the GE creates a blend between the two. Hmmm... sorry for the insta-tutorial... hope my rant helps!
Title: Re: Summer Painting Challenge [Month 1/3]

I see what you mean, its a different style than I usually use, I see a lot of people doing the thin translucent layers that build up a color brighter (or darker depending which way you work), I just cant get the hang of it.

Typically I just use wet blending and "fuzz" the edges with a seperate brush, its time consuming but I'm happy with the results. However all the paints have a good consistency and coverage for it, except for the watery diet-pigment kommando khaki.

Grumble.

My progress:

The basing for the models is done, all of it.

Finished this month, thus far:
-3 Rhinos
-2 Dreadnaughts
-1 Falcon Grav Tank
-Bases

To go:
-6x Fire Dragons
-8x Guardian Jetbikes
-2x Warlock Jetbike (Conversions finished)
-Eldrad
-12x Warp Spider
-Jetbike Autarch
-Land Raider Crusader

And all of the eldar stuff has to be done by the 23rd for baltimore, I've got a tournament ticket from my lovely girlfriend that I better have an army to play with at, and I want to finish my golden demon entry.

Help.

Feel free to bid....OFTEN! lol

Hmm... I'd say 12 to 16 hours. three days off & on. I'm working on cranking stuff out.
I am currently halfway through five BA Termies (not sure why I didn't put them in my vow!)  with the Forge World shoulder pads (sweeeet looking pads!) as I have gotten the BA full codex and termies will actually be viable with the new list. Ebay bound as well. PM me to get on my newsletter about upcoming auctions!

That is a very nice cold one void dragon, the painting is suberb, however it looks like you got a bit lazy with the business end of that spear, might want to touch it up or maybe its just the photo, but the gold metallic tip isnt doing it for me. The only reason its so noticeable really is that the rest is so well done.

I think I'm gonna go take photos of what I've finished and what I've got to do still...

You must have a very steady hand, how did you paint the reddish highlights in the gaps between the plates from the Eldar flyers? it looks greats.
Title: Re: Summer Painting Challenge [Month 1/3]
Post by: Targetawg on June 12, 2007, 11:22:31 PM
Its actually a lot easier than most people think, I saw another poster on here do it a while ago (maybe a year or two ago) and thought the same thing "wow, how'd he paint in that little crack"

Then it dawned on me, and its what I did.

Paint the crack dark red, sloppy as you'd like
Paint random varying lengths a lighter shade
Paint a lighter shade inside of the previous lighter shade
Continue until happy with the "pulsing" effect

Then the steady hand comes in, and I carefully paint the armor plates and paint over the previous slop right to the edge, take it slow and you shouldnt have much trouble.

My vow may be changing (even though locked) which could be a technical failure at the end, but my games day list seems to be a very dynamic thing as I'm in the process of playtesting the army, lol.

The main thing is that I'll have painted probably 2000 points of models in one month between my space marine and eldar models.

WOOOOOOOOOoo

After how good the falcon looked...a fire prism may be on the burner for the next couple days and a photo coming to the thread by weeks end with any luck.

Finally some pics!

This is all I have completely done, I'm off on a side tangent working on assembling some Eldar...damn it, have to focus:

Notice the extra armor I cobbled together on the right arm.

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi116.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fo37%2FFuryOfPhil%2FUltraDread1.jpg&hash=c3c829ed0914f581311d07beb5a1743bf35f42d0)

And only one Terminator:

(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi116.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fo37%2FFuryOfPhil%2FUltraTermie.jpg&hash=5dd335cc46dc3cd7c27873bcd5a510331e7a7d2b)

Still have to prime the Tac Squad, but they are assembled...got some base blue on 2 Termies.

The pics are kind of crappy, I admit, but I'm lacking some proper lighting at the moment. And fiddling with the settings on the digital camera.

Oh, and in case you were wondering (this topic came up before) that is pastel chalk mud and dirt weathering on the Dread. That decal looks awful...that's coming off.

I can do it, I know it....ten tac marines and 4 Termies in 2 weeks? Piece of cake.

You're right about the decal, but how do you plan to remove it - not things I use, but would like to know how you plan to do it, just in case I ever need to.

One tiny comment about the Assault Cannon, and this is as much a query that anyone can answer, should the five barrels that are not currently firing be bored like the currently firing one. As I don't have an AC dread arm to hand, I can't see whether there is a "cover" plate for them - is that being too completist about a model?

They both look great and I love that weathering!

I can do it, I know it....ten tac marines and 4 Termies in 2 weeks? Piece of cake.

That's the spirit - keep up the good work.

I promise to post a WIP of my Wraithlord today as I have spare time again.

You can use MicroSol, which is basically acetic acid solution, to break the adhesion. Or plain old water. Or steam, but I'm not doing that, might melt my precious models!

I'd like to know too, since I can't figure out how the ammo would load into the weapon. Not being an expert on air or gas cooled high velocity guns (a la that thing that the guy had in Predator!) I have no idea.

The wings aren't finished or glued yet, the Brightlance needs highlights and details - magnetised, but join could do with hiding? and shield is also magnetised so that a second weapon, in this case She will be getting a Starcannon, can go there and that needs finishing off. Base obviously needs grass and finishing.

My photo skills aren't ace, but hopefully you can see what might need doing, not sure what to do with all those gems on the wings and her chest probably needs the two gems there being done as gems, any comments would be highly appreciated.

Nice WLord, Khal! I have always thought a good conversion could be made using the old phantom titan, but never did it...and never will now that the new WL is so nice.

I like the color scheme and the weapon mounts look fairly seemless. My only issue is with the pose, I like that it is very dynamic and really captures the Eldar feel better than the static GW ones...but, the arms should be opposite teh legs in a true running pose. Left leg forward/left arm back and vice/versa. Other than that it's great, man good job.

My own progress on my pledges is trundling along - one vyper nearly finished, and other undercoated, 20 Zombies all basecoated, just highlights and inks etc etc to be applied on 10 - 15 of them (the rest are done). Pics to follow, before I have a spurt and finish them off.

Nice work so far.

Like an idiot, I decided to spray prime my tac squad, since my airbrush was being difficult. Bad idea. The store I went to no longer carries Testors spray, so I bought RustOleum instead. First mistake. I then primed on a humid 85 degree day. Second mistake.

I now have rough coat marines. Some are worse the others, seems the paint decided to quit being crappy half way through. Enamel too, so it will be a pain to strip. Sigh. I may scrap the models and buy another box and work like crazy to get them done now.

I'll keep plugging away on the Terminators. I did finish a melta marine, that was part of the original command squad.

I'll have pics up thursday or friday of:

My vow
My Games Day Army
My 2 Golden Demon Entries
What I've painted in the last 4 weeks (Including the last week of may)

Good god its a lot. I've painted more in 4 weeks than I  have in the last 2 years of gaming. I'll probably end up failing this months vow as well because I changed my army list around, lol  :D The golden demon entries I'm hoping to take a bronze/honorable mention, because honestly, the Avatar has maybe 15 hours in him, and the single model (fire dragon exarch) has probably 6 hours in him. They're good, and probably close to where I need to be, but they arent there yet, and this year I decided to enter a golden demon or two, and paint an entire unpainted army, 3 weeks prior to my deadline. So this years golden demon will be a learning experience of what I need to do for next year, which I will start on FAR in advance and hopefully do better in :)

The list of models painted in the last 4 weeks:
17x Grey Knights
3x Rhino
2x Dreadnaught
18x Path Finder (Eldar)
6x Fire Dragon
1x Eldrad
1x Maugan Ra (The only model in this list I havent finished yet!)
1x Falcon Grav Tank
1x Fire Prism Tank
1x Avatar (One of my 2 Golden Demon Entries)

Thats 5 Tanks, 2 Walkers, 41 Infantry, 2 HQ Models, and 1 Monstrous Creature

Still hoping to finish this month from my vow, but will definitley wait till after gamesday:
2x Jetbike Warlock
1x Land Raider Crusader

I think I'm taking a vacation from painting for a bit after this whole games day ordeal is done...

But, my army is done, maugan ra got finished yesterday, one last modification to my list (i was three points over, oh noes!) of removing a shuriken cannon upgrade from my fireprism and painting and attaching the original shuriken catapaults is completed tonight.

I leave for games day baltimore at 5am tomorrow.

I am probably going to fail my vow too as I feel like WG I am just damn sick of painting sisters.

ever since I finished painting what I needed for my 2k list I havn't picked up a brush in 2 weeks to finish off my last squad and 2 vehicles. just kinda stand at my desk looking down and just go "I don't feel like it!"

oh come now Myung you can finish this vow, youve never failed yet, well not that i can remember so find the motivation and pick up that brush just a few things left to go and its another success come on!!!

i mean if i have to i'll give you a kick in the ass for motivation lol... i just wanna see you complete yet another insanely large vow to a good standard cuz it makes me believe that its possible for me to finish all the models i gotta do still (not for my vow but still for all my armies) so you cant quit not now.

I'll be failing as well this month, family crisis and what not has meant I've only just finished the Lascannons, with far more important bits to get on with then the Thunderbolt I've not alota choice until I get back on track.

But yeah, the Lascannons are done anyway, the lights not good but I wanted to get em packed away rather then wait around until tommorrow an better light for a pic.

I failed once in the last year. but that was because I moved and lost my paints and brushes for 2 weeks, and it was only short 50% on a Land Speeder. I'll see what I can do but thje painting bug is dead in me atm!

Col Gavis your Lascannons look fantastic!

...indeed!  very nice lascannons.  Well we all had a good run.  though my vow is quite small.  I though it was six drones plus the suit but it is only four.  I can probably bust that out.  I've been converting instead of painting though.

Well, I'm not making excuses, but nothing ruins a vow and your will to paint like a bad spray job. That tactical squad is in a box in my closet, awaiting resurrection when the paint gods are kinder.

All in all, I'm moving on. I finished:

1 marine w. power fist

1 marine with melta

1 Dreadnought

3 Terminators

I did not finish the rest of the tac squad and 2 terminators. Not too bad, but not complete either.

This coming month is going to see a completely different project. See my new sig below. Website up soon.

3 wardancers, 1 treeman, 1 wraithguard, 1 spell singer and 1 HE unit champion all complete haha lol pics of the most recent completion the spell singer.

i used a lot of wetblending on this model hope it shows... it shows really well in real life and im definatly going to keep using this technique, its quick, very effective and gives a very smooth finish

Here to report an absolute , dismal failure . Got the Wave Serpent and Banshee's done . But was not happy with Autarch or Farseer , so they have had the pleasure of being stripped 4 times this month .

At least I got 4 Swooping hawks done and a good start on 3 Warp Spiders . Oh well , next month is a new month .

Well, Im leaving tomorrow to take a short hiatus and visit the girlfriend, so I'm marking myself happily, as a failure this month.

Vow:

3 Rhinos
1 Land Raider Crusader
2 Dreadnaughts
2 Jetbike Warlocks
1 Jetbike Autarch
1 Falcon Grav Tank
6x Fire Dragon
8x Guardian Jetbike
12x Warp Spider
Eldrad

Extra I did after the lock date so I couldnt change the vow:

18 Path finders
1 Fire Prism Grav Tank
Maugan Ra

Still a success in my book, got a lot painted that wasnt painted before the month started!

Alright, got a semi-big annoucement.  I'm going away (leaving friday), and I won't be back till July 4th/5th.  So, I won't be able to do the challenge for next month, or rather, I won't be able to start the thread till I get back.  So, I'm going to put this to a vote by you guys.  I can a] start the thread on the 29th, and end the period before vows are locked early, b] start the thread on the 5th, and push back the time till vows are locked, or c] let someone else do the vows for that month.  If C is chosen, PM if you're interested in running it for that month.  I'll give this a day before deciding what to do (I run the challenge on another site and would like do both challenges similarly)

I say just start the thread early.

If you don't wanna do that I guess I could do it for one month. I am going to take easy myself and make it more a building month then a painting month as I gotta get started for my next big army project. (still not sure if I am going to go IG or Nids)

if you want me to do it just say so and I will start it in July, but I don't think anyone will care if you start Julys thread in June by a few days.

I sealed my last group of sisters. now to just build, magnatize then paint a Immolator and Excorsist and I am all 100% done!

I did get all the parts out and cleaned up all the metal parts for the Excorsist but now time to play some mindless video games.

I built and primmed my Excorsist and Immolator/Rhino. I decided not to magnetize al the lil extra bits for sisters vehicles on this one as i really only do that for my dedicated Rhinos.

3 days to finish em. I think I can do it but most of tomorrow is shot as that is when I dirve 90 mins each way to my 40k store and I got my game for the escalation tournment to finish! If I lose I get 3rd place if I win I get atleast 2nd depending if I can beat my good friend who is waiting for the winner of my game.

I did win best painted army for the League already, now to add the $150 dollar prize to that for 1st place!

Wow, I really wish we had leagues with prize pools like that near me, what state/country are you in again?

Im envious of all of these game groups I tell ya...

Oh, also if you start early, Id appreciate ending the tenth as usual if possible instead of early, Im out of town with limited internet access (and no access to my models to see what needs to get done) until the 8th or 9th and i'd still like to vow.

I go to Pops Comics n Games in Sarasota Florida. I know they can afford the entire game prize lot from my sisters army alone since I spent about 700 dollars on it. add in the 17 other people and they were happy to do it. Altho not everyone started a new army like I did.

they hold 40k tournments regularly, but this was their first long (3 month) escalation league. think after nemisis crown we are going to run a LotR escalation league. which the store is happy about because no one has any LotR so will have to buy, so they are willing to put up good prizes.

at the nearest gw to me they hold battle nights every thursday and there is prizes of any model/models of your choice up to a certain value and if you save up your points by not taking anything and win the next games day they add both to gether and you can get something even more expensive

e.g. on guy on battle thursday 3 times in a row(then got thumped soooooooooo bad by someone playing tau ;D) and with all the points he gained by winning thos three games days he got the tau mega battle force not bad huh ;)
