withdraw

in the codex, it says i can withdraw after the assault phase... now, does that mean i can assault an enemy unit, then fall back without him hitting me at all?
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

No, because he gets to strike at you in the assault phase. You can fall back only after that.
All hail Eldrad, for he shall safely guide us through the darkness until a new morning dawns.

that also means you have to wait until combat resolution is finished.

you can't use it if your squad breaks and runs like crying babies.

this happens a lot with small squads (like spiders)

Well its this possible? I mean to withdraw in the same assault phase an enemy consolidates ur unit, cause its in the assault phase, and power says that its used at the end of the assault phase :)

your withdraw has to happen after the assault phase and you must be in combat still.

so if either side runs then you can't withdraw.

if both sides stay in close combat then you may choose to withdraw.

be aware that it is a "fallback" move and crossfire is in effect. if you venture deep into enemy territory then you could crossfire yourself accidentally.
