I had a few reconsiderations about my 1750 point list, and have decided on the following:

H.Q.
Ethereal (in Firewarrior transport)
Elites
3x Crisis Battlesuits - 3x PR, 3x TL-MP @171pts
3x Crisis Battlesuits - 3x TL-FB, 3x Flamer @141pts
3x Crisis Battlesuits - 3x TL-MP, 3x Velocity Trackers @186pts
Troops
10x FW - Devilfish @170pts
10x FW - Devilfish @170pts
10x FW - Devilfish @170pts
10x Kroot +2 Hounds @70pts
Fast Attack
10x Pathfinders @110pts
Heavy Support
Hammerhead - Submunitions, TL-SMS @130pts
Hammerhead - Submunitions, TL-SMS @130pts
Skyray - TL-SMS

Total: 1613 points (meaning I have 137 points left...)

And I have absolutely no idea what to do with those 137 points. I would get more HS or Elites, but I can't, I'm not too keen on getting another H.Q. (redundant), which leaves me with FA and Troops. I'm feeling pretty plentiful on troops, but I suppose 5 troop units won't hurt. Alternatively, what's good with FA for 137 points?

Note: Ethereal's there for massive Fish of Fury Drop on a unit.

You have plenty of vehicles so the addition of two Piranhas could be quite useful as screeners and rapid response, they are quite cheap for what they bring and if you squadron them you could split your Pathfinders into two units (possible adding a number or two to each squad) to assure a better spread of markerlight hits.

I'll second the piranha--they're quite useful in a mech list. If nothing else, the sight of a fast-moving melta gun hurtling toward the enemy tanks will draw some fire off the transports for a turn or two, which is key.

Have you considered trying out fire-support Pathfinders? A group with three railrifles or ion rifles can be pretty mean, particularly if outflanked. Then again, another group of Kroot with some Krootoxen attached should also work well in that regard.

SMS on the FW Devilfishes and 9 more Pathfinders

alternately you can go with SMS on the Devilfishes and 4 pathfinders (have 2 units of Pathfinders 7 each) drop the hounds from the Kroot unit but add another unit of Kroot 13 points left over for something else (like 2 more Kroot)
6th edition performance:

Tau - 2/1/1

Do you really think these will be worth the upgrade just to spend points? I might rather go with point defence targeting relay so that the Devilfishes can help protect the Fire Warriors.

I am not a fan of using crisis suits to shoot down enemy fliers.  I think they are much more point efficient means of doing that without using an elite slot. You have the skyray already and if you face an opponent without a flyer they aren't going to be a very useful unit.

I also think you should split your pathfinders up into two groups of 5.

As for your remaining points.  Drop a FW from each squad and use the points to get a bomber. Or drop 1 and get a fighter.  If you don't want to drop the warriors to make room then I'd go with the piranha suggestion. Go with a pair and you'll have enough points left over to either outfit your pathfinders with heavy weapons or buy 4 seeker missiles and spread them out over your devilfish and pirahnas.

I do think the Sunshark is more generally useful than the Razorshark, given that it can engage two (or even three) targets a turn between the bombs, disembarking the drones, and it's own guns. I would point out, though, that I don't think it's wise bringing a Tau Flyer without buying decoy launchers. They are paper thin and all those quad guns behind Aegis Defense Lines are significantly dangerous to them.

Yeah, pretty much agreed, if only, if only, I could find another 2 points.

The only issue I see with the Sunshark is the fact that the drones fire as if they're "passengers", meaning that if the Sunshark moves Cruising, the drones will be firing snapshots. But, I suppose you can't have everything.

It's worth noting that their guns are twin-linked, are rapid fire, and their base BS is only one worse than a snapshot anyway. Plus there's the networked markerlight.

You can also disembark them at any speed (which is unlike any other passengers), and then the snapshot penalty doesn't apply anymore.
