[750] Army List Help!
« on: July 19, 2011, 01:05:22 PM »
I have played a lot of games with this list losing only 3 all to my Eldar army, so I am looking for some critique.

Master of the Forge-Storm Bolter-105

Scouts-Snipers-75~5
Tactical-90~5

Assault Terminators-3 Lightning Claws, 2 TH/SS-200~5
Dreadnaught-TL Autocannon/TL Lascannon-145

Razorback-Lascannon/TL Plasma Gun-75
Drop Pod-35

What goes in the drop pod varies.
If you fail, try, try again, if you still fail, try something else.

It's a solid list and you seem to have got the basics of every area covered - assault, objectives, anti-infantry and anti-tank all rolled up in to one nice 750 pt package. I might just try this one out against my Guard friend.

Emphasis mine.
I don't think only having 2 minimal troops taking up ~25% of your available points is a wise idea, in two thirds of missions just kill 10 models and your looking at a draw at best.

When you write the list you normally say which squad has bought the transport, this allows you to drop pod in what ever would be most dangerous against your their army, unless your opponent is fine with it of course.

I would suggest dropping either the dread or the terminators to bulk out the tactical squad and add a special and heavy weapon for flexibility.

Edit: Wooo 200!!!
hug cover, shoot the big ones, and cripple the fast ones. if those cant be achieved, kill em all.  8)

Sometimes it is the Dread which can shoot anything from where it is anyway, sometimes it is termies to get them up there, but I only just changed them from normal ones and then on one occasion there was nothing because there were all tanks of his so I just put it right in front of one to block out its shooting.

cant put terms in a drop pod, but I wish you could...
Before you criticize someone you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them you are a mile away and you have their shoes.

But the drop pod is more accurate and no chance of mishaps.

Where are you getting the other razorback from??
The tactical squad is the only squad that can take one.
And the dread is the only unit left that can go in the pod.

Scout snipers and MotF? In that case you need to spare 15 points somewhere for Camo cloaks for an awesome sauce 2+ cover save in a ruin.

I'm not a fan of the plasma pistol. A Combi-Melta is more useful. I don't... it depends a bit on the state of the meta.
For an ultra annoying set-up try to give the MOTF the Conversion Beamer and attach him to the Scouts (giving him ablative wounds) in a bolstered ruin. As long as you keep the ehemy away from him, they'll wreck MCs. Or if tank hunting, just rely on the cover without the scouts attached, freeing the Scouts for other stuff..

Worse your Tac Squad clocks in at 130, you are 10 too high. You can drop the Plasma Pistol and Power Fist for a Scout ML and Melta Bombs on the Sarge.

Have you ever run your list against a horde army? (Granted they are difficult at 750 anyway.)

I'd consider dropping the lascannon on the dreadnought (in favor of sth more useful against hordes) and give the MOTF the Conversion Beamer. How about dropping back to TL assault cannon? The only drawback is range.

I am going to play this with my Eldar army soon, which is good with hordes. The Dread-combo goes well. I will consider your suggestions though.
If you fail, try, try again, if you still fail, try something else.
