Shadow Wolves (SW) - Pic Heavy
« on: November 29, 2009, 08:57:06 PM »
So I broke down and decided to start a Space Wolf army. I wanted to post pictures online to get some comments and constructive criticism. I'm not an awesome painter, but I feel that these models are a decent tabletop standard that I can feel proud of on the game table.

This is the first time I have posted an army online, so I'm curious to see what more experienced painters have to say about my models. I'll continue to post new pictures on this thread as I build units out, partly just to keep myself motivated to paint my models and get them up.

the first unit I have is a unit of Grey Hunters. here are a few shots of the unit:

And one shot from the back:

Here is a grey hunter with power sword. The eyes look a little odd in this picture. The bug eyes are a bit less noticeable in real life, but the picture kind of blows them up. Any tips on painting eyes?

And finally, a close-up of the meltagunner

Edit: the pictures don't seem to be showing up correctly. they look fine when I hit "preview" but they don't show up in the final post. here is the link to the photobucket site where I ahve them: http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/muffinman331/warhammer/

I tend to paint the eyes a single colour, it's a little more subtle, but generally comes off quite well.
the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to function the way a soldier is supposed to function -- without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends on it.

Don't cry for the Happy dead
But weep for those who dread to die.

i would suggest simplifying the scheme a bit: stick to maybe one gray color for the armor and give it a wash to bring out the details a bit more.

I'm also not really feeling the ice blue added on, if you really want a second color on the armor I would go with something else, perhaps gold?

but keep us posted!

Everwhere. Nowhere
Somewhere.
Not Here...
So maybe nowhere near.
Maybe the Emp was further away than Biff could imagine. And even more mega.

thanks for the comments. I kind of like having the two-colored armor though. it gives them a little more flavor with the black and grey instead of just grey marines. I might try something else on the ice blue parts, but I like the contrast. If I change it I would probably look for some other color that gives a good contrast to the black and grey.

here is the next model completed, a wolf guad pack leader for the squad, with a PF and combi melta:

And the newest addition to my army: a drop pod for my grey hunters!

I think the blue does make it stand out well.  :)
It's your army so paint it as you please. The drop pod looks really good with the blue.
Man I guess i'll have to post some of my SW pics soon.
Keep up the good work.

Very nice drop pod. Keep up the good work.
Maybe drop a bit of sand on the bases, all you need is a beach and a bottle of white glue.
The most enjoyable games are the ones lost.
