Curious About Members' Religions
« on: June 2, 2005, 06:48:35 PM »
Yellow.

This post is not meant for everyone to fight, all I am asking is what religion you are, or if you have one at all. I do not want anyone here ridiculing others because of their religions. Keep it clean.

I myself am a Catholic. I have no problem with any other beliefs, because there is no way to prove anything.

So please, no makning fun, I'm just curious.

Well, I'm an atheist. I don't believe in God, and I also believe that if it was possible for there to BE a God, then there would be more than one. There's actually a mathematical theory which proves this. I can't remember what it's called though. :-\
You must be some kind of idiot. Hehehe! Everyone laugh at the idiot!!!

And the odd thing is, I believe Jesus is the son of god.(See thread in discussion board, entitled Where do I stand?)

I'm atheist I guess. I don't go to church or worship any detity, or practice any religions. I think that there could be a higher power, but not that it created life and what-not.

Yeah, I think this would be better suited to the Discussion board, but you should leave it here, so that people can take us Tavern regulars seriously for once!

well, there are mesenaic jews. people who follow jewish tradition but still acknowledge that jesus is the messiah. they were the ones who at the time of jesus chose to follow Him but still keep their tradition and heritage.

I'm halfway. I am kind of a christian as I believe there is a god that created stuff, but I also go with all the evolution stuff. And don't think things like 'Jesus never sinned' and the Adam and Eve rubbish. I'm confused myself really and I'm loking for options that aren't there...

Not really sure what you'd call me. I'm kinda christian because I believe in God and believe Jesus is the Messiah, but I also believe in evolution and other scientific concepts.

That isn't the contradiction some would have you think. Reading the bible it has occured to me that Evolution and the 'big bang' are possible. Read Hebrews, it mentions that the end days are near. If this was written 2000 years ago and the earth is less than 6000 years old then someone has a twisted sense of time.

I myself am a christian by upbringing and subsequent choice.

I am atheist as well, an all too common sight on these boards if I may be so bold...

As for your mathmatical law, my AP Chemistry teacher (who is devoutly religous with her depiction of dying Christ on a cross on a poster board sheet that is 2 feet by 3 feet) has argued that the laws of thermodynaics explain why evolution is not real. Entropy vs. Enthelpy... baseically the law that determines that everything in the universe will either go to its lowest energy state or its highest degree of chaos/disorginization/degrees of freedom and what have you...

Also, apparently the eye is so complex that the pieces to make it could not have sustained each other without other pieces, and unless they were evolved at the same time, they eye would not work the way it does now. This came from my Algebra II teacher last year.

By the way, I don't go to a Catholic school and I swear I am atheist... I just find these arguments very interesting and thought I would share with the group.

I am the founding father of the Chrisite faith, which states that all Chris' are automatically part of my faith, regardless of belief in my faith; and we'll all go to Chrisopolis when we die and everyone else shall have unpleasant things done to them for the rest of their days.

Kris's are also acceptable, as is anyone else with a name that, when pronounced, has 'Chris' somewhere in it.

I'm currently working on 'The Words of Chris'.

ALL HAIL CHRISOPOLIS!

If I'm correct, that's Agnostic. But, be it what you will, it's your religion not mine, and I'm in no place to put a title on it.

Personally, I'm a Zen-Taoist. I know for a fact, that there is a God(s), but I also think that if any, they would want me to be who I am. Zen-Taoism keeps me happy, which is the key to life, in my opinion.

I'm agnostic.  I am participating in several discussions with people of Wiccan faith which I do find interesting and have seen some evidence to support.  Stupid apparitions.

I am a Catholic, also an anarcho-communist, and an evolutionist (Vatican formally endorses evolution as not opposing church)

Agnostic all the way. That is what you get when you have two families with different point of views (father family being christian and mother being scientific).
