Title: IG Guide to Forge World Gear
Post by: Chosen Man on October 9, 2006, 10:08:01 PM
IG Guide to Forge World Gear

This is a listing of all the current Imperial Guard hardware available thru Forge World (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard). This list will also inform you in what edition of the FW Books the rules can be found. Since the first publishing of Vol 1 and 2, new codex(IG and Space Marines) have been released and FW has also revised both books in PDF Form. All current codex changes have been made to these books thru PDFs in order for FW gear to fall in line with current codex books for IAV1 and IAV2, see PDF links below. Some gear like army specific special gear is not listed here, as it is specialized to the Army List, and the information will be located there. IMPERIAL ARMOR VS. IMPERIAL ARMOR VOL.

The following will attempt to describe and answer the difference between FWs first edition IA book versus todays IAV series. The original Imperial Armor book can still be found online for sale, and the book is now superseded by the IAV1 book and its following editions. In order to avoid the evil copywrite devil, I have simplified the major changes to the most important part of the entry, the game stats. Most have the option change noted, for two main reasons, but NOT limited to these reasons, first the mention of the now outdated escape hatch option, and the addition of a Heavy Stubber as a pintle-mounted weapon. While these two make up the majority of the options changes, some other changes are noted in the entries for more specialized vehicles. Fluff changes are not taken into account, cause they don't matter.

Well the first part I never promised, although once I looked over the material, I figured why not. It's been in the works for a few weeks now. I even had it up in the projects area for a while working out the info. Hope it helps!  ;)

That information is on a need-to-know basis only.

In other words, we're working on it. That is to say, Goyder's not working on it. In the future please fire us a PM or something rather than double posting.

I don't know if this is the kind of stuff you mean to include, but the Warhound rules are different between IAV3 and IAU.
Title: Re: IG Guide to Forge World Gear
Post by: Chosen Man on November 18, 2006, 08:20:44 AM
Warhound:
That's FW being a pain in the behind. If you want my view, I'd go with what is in IAV3. IAU is always changing and even other gear conflicts with it. Still if you have one or the other use what you got. That's about the best way to look at FW gear, its always changing from one volume to the next.

Destroyer:
What changed? I noted on here what changed. As I stated earlier that is as specific as I'm going to get on this, due to copywrite. Sorry can't post stats on such things. Let's just say that anytime there is a weapons rules change, your going to need IAV for legal play. If I remember, it had to do with the range of the weapon and the type of blast temp it used.

You can go straight to hell! Do not collect $200!

We get paid for this? HEY! I want my $200!

Tell me about these Salamanders -- what do they look like?

Are they light / agile / small? Because then I'd fit them into my army if they looked cool.

Update: Added Heavy Mortar and Centaur Tractor to the list, as with the Gorgon, the PDF is listed for everyone to enjoy.

Salamanders can be found on the FW site and you can also get a good look at their stats in the A/C Dex. Or you could PM the local expert Cap. Valhalla114.

Update: Added LR Annihilator to the list, the PDF is listed for everyone to enjoy. Also added Centaur Assault Carrier variant to the list, but no special rules exist for it yet. I will post a PDF link to it, should FW issue a PDF with special rules for it in the future. Since the variant LR parts are only for looks and nothing has changed with the stats, I will not be listing DKoK Variants from Standard IG Variants. Although once IAV5 comes out and if the stats are in the book, I will note it on the chart for reference. CARRY ON! -CM

Disregard that, it seems Goyder is uncomforatble with anything more than 2 stickies.

I've linked it into the main FAQ sticky, rather than have the stickies all cluttered up.

That way, this can just be updated as we get new shiny things and what not. Oh, and this'll be on the front page soon, I'm giving the projects a kick in the pants as we speak. You know, heavens forbid we have our own lives and such.  ;)

Well, considering that Chaos have 4 stickies, Space Marines have 5 stickies, Necrons 7, Orks 5, Inquisition 5, Tau 5, Tyranids 6, Eldar 5, and Dark Eldar 7, I'd say you were being a bit paranoid. We're on a level with the Kroot board, so I figured that having it up a week or so wouldn't do no harm.

Does IA5 have the option for the Macharius to dish out the vanquishers cannons, battle cannons and Vulcan bolters? Just wondering if it's worth buying...

Oh, and sorry to stir up the dead article, but I didnt want to start a fresh article when this IS the article where the conversation will end up.

The fact that the rules are available online tells us "no" - Forgeworld removes its online rules as soon as they are published in one of their books.

It's ok, this isn't a "dead" post...more of an "Immortal" one. Since I usually post updates to the list here. Just like in the All IG Doctrines List post. So feel free to post here when you have a question.

As for the variants available to you in IAV5. I believe the Vanquisher version is in the book, but the Vulcan Megabolter version is indeed new. Which I expect we will see in either the FW Update for this year, or IAV6 which is slated for release around December.

"BIG" UPDATE: With the upcoming release of the new Imperial Armor Apocalypse, I have updated the list with the known contents of the book. As stated by FW, those pieces in this book will superseed the existing Imperial Armor Update 2006, so I have made changes to the listed based on this new info. Also a new section has been added to the list....Apocalypse Formations will focus on FW Exclusive Formations. As always, if you wish to discuss these issues please DO NOT post here as this is considered a closed post for Updates only, use the link below to discuss issues in the IG FW Universal post...thanks! WARMACHINE UPDATE: Just doing some general house keeping of the list. I've also gone back and reviewed Imp Armor Apocalypse now that I have a hard copy. Not much has changed, although I did add the Chaos Warhound, since it now an option for one of the armylist on this guide. I've also removed any reference to Imperial Update 2006 from gear that is now available in Imp Armor Apocalypse, since that material is superseeded by the new addition. Some gear is not in the new book but was in IAUpdate, so a reference is left there in case someone has IAUpdate. Also all PDF links are still working....Mission Accomplished in 2007....See you in 2008 with more FW Gear! Enjoy!

Also the following PDFs are now gone from the FW site, if you want the rules you'll have to invest in FW books.

Macharius Heavy Tank: IAV5, IAA
Macharius "Vanquisher" Heavy Tank: IAV5, IAA
Macharius "Vulcan" Heavy Tank: IAA
Malcador Heavy Tank: IAA

UPDATE: Ah! A new edition of Imperial Armor is here....While I have been cruising thru it the last month or so...I've learned a few new things....First off is the new addition of a Khorne themed Renegades and Heretics armylist. As well as some new units for the FW DKoK armylist. Also a few recently pulled PDF rules have showed up in this new book. It should be noted that the points price of the PDF Reaver Titan is WRONG! A new points price is included in the new IAV6 book. I have gone thru the list of items and made small changes where needed.

A new category has been added to the list. The new Renegades and Heretics now has Air Assets listed as part of the list, the new book also has profiles for the fighters in this book, therefore since this is now part of the IG/R&H list the "Renegade Air Force" section has been added.

As always....Enjoy! CARRY ON!

With the release of the new Armored Battle Group list and IG Codex, I have added a new army list, along with links to the new revised books in PDF Form to the list. I don't have IAV7 yet, but once I do I will return to make more proper changes. I have also added IAV8 to the list with the rumored Imps vs Ork name....We shall see....

Gentlemen - good news everyone!

Renegades and Heretics! (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/i/IA5_RH.pdf) Arses and elbows over here for an update.

Even more love for the Death Korp (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/d/dkkfaq2707.pdf) - A lovely FAQ to go with their recent army list update.

The new Heretics list can now go FAQ itself. Linky (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/i/IA5_RHFAQ.pdf) Forgeworld has been rather busy recently. I suspect it must be performance review time over in the home country.

Looks like some of the blokes are looking to get a raise.....In addition to this, I read in the FAQ that we will see revised list for the other 2 Renegade list, so anyone with a taste for Renegades keep your heads up, FW has our back! ;)

UPDATE: A minor update to the mega list, with the recent addition of the FAQs and some special Elysian characters from IAV8. On other news, IA9 and IA10 will be Space Marine Reality Show deals so it looks like it's going to get quiet around here for a while. Although fear not...for IA11 will feature...Eldar...S pace Wolves...Elysians AND Cadians....so be ready. Enjoy!

Special Elysian Characters? Sounds cool. And the bit about IA11 having both my favorite kits.... tempting, very tempting.  :)

I like the hostile environ cadians, but would have liked some new arms for them. We have torsos a plenty, but cool arm poses are few and far between.

Update: Well I finally got my hands on the new Imperial Armor Apoc 2nd Edition book, and I have updated the list with all the new rules and toys. Since these rules trump the previous IA Apoc book, I have removed reference to that book where IA Apoc 2ed is involved to avoid confusion in the ranks. Note that there are a few new tanks in this book. Some new tanks have PDFs still but they are now outdated and superseeded by the new Apoc 2nd edition book, some even have rules changes. Enjoy!

Update: I finally got my hands on a copy of IAV11 The Doom of Mymeara, while we didn't get much new stuff besides a few super heavies that are also featured in the IAApoc 2nd edition update, we did get a new Special Character a second General joins the ranks....General Myndoras Odon.

I have updated the Super Heavies in question with the volume they appear in, I have also removed Inq. Solomon Lok from the special characters listing since he is now a Grey Knights character only now, and not available to the IG army anymore.....Enjoy!

Forge World released updates for a bunch of IG stuff like the Tallarn Mukaali riders, as well as the D-99 list (it is a bit half assed though).
