1750 Ultramarines - My Return to the Forum!!
« on: December 21, 2011, 09:43:54 PM »
So this is my first post in a while on this forum, I migrated to an Australian wargaming forum and I just remember getting much better feedback on this site!

Anyways this is my list:

Marneus Calgar: armour of antilochus

Sternguard Vets: 10x marines, 5x combi melta, heavy flamer, powerfist, drop pod
Dreadnought: 2x twin linked autocannons

Scouts: 10x snipers, Telion, Missile Launcher
Tactical Squad: 10x marines, meltagun, missile launcher, powerfist, rhino
Tactical Squad: 10x marines, meltagun, multi melta, combi melta, powerfist, rhino
Land Speeder Typhoon: multi melta

Vindicator: siege shield
Thunderfire Cannon

I wrote it after reading a quote from Guilliman about how the clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, so I wanted to do a list that will have the opponent reacting to my battle plan! So tell me what you think.

just a quick question, where would Marneus Calgar be going? by himself, he can be and easy kill/kill point, where you waste 265 odd points (i think). either give him something like 10 honour guard with him in a Land raider for a deathstar unit or put him with some termies, once again either in a landraider or deep striking with other termies/ drop pod spam with firesupport. just ideas though, and welcome back to 40K online!   ;D

One of the beauties of the Space Marine Codex is that our drop pods hold 12 models, so he drops down turn one with the sternguard, who promptly waste something and then serve as ablative armour for calgar, who goes on a turn two rampage who is then reinforced by the mechanised tactical squads in turn 3 or 4. And thanks! It is good to be back!

What do people think of this:

Marneus Calgar: armour of antilochus

Sternguard: 10x marines, 5x combi melta, heavy flamer, powerfist, drop pod
Dreadnought: 2x twin linked autocannons

Tactical Squad: 10x marines, meltagun, combi melta, multi melta, powerfist, rhino
Tactical Squad: 10x marines, meltagun, powerfist, missile launcher, rhino
Scout Squad: 10x scouts, missile launcher, Telion, 8x sniper rifles
Scout Squad: powerfist, combi flamer

Thunderfire Cannon
Vindicator: siege shield

Same list, but I wasn't happy with the typhoon. So because I needed the 110 points, I thought I would throw in some scouts. They can sit on an objective and be very un-menacing or they can infiltrate/outflank and be an annoyance that no one really wants to shoot at. Thoughts?

Why no love for the typhoon?  It would have contributed quite a lot of downrange firepower and rear area security (MM, or my favorite with HF).  The scouts....won't really do much, in that configuration.
