Well I am still using my evil telecaster to this day.

Dont be swayed it is evil alrights, its not your regular tele. I changed the original pickups on it with dual EMGs and changed the white marble pickguard with a black picguard with a Metallica snake.
So now its all black, and sounds more of what I want. If you havent figured out I play Metal, so I had to change the tele a bit so it sounded the way I wanted it to.

I have a GX-30M Crate amp.  Pretty nice, works good.

My pedals are:
FX-69B Grunge. Dont be swayed by the name, this pedal produces very nice destortion that matches pretty close to some Metallica and Slayer sounds.

FX75-B Flanger. Works wonders and I play around with my accustic sounds alot, as well as weird destortion.

Metalmaster. the ultimate destortion pedal, but I fin that I use my Grunge pedal the most though. still this pedal is a great one.

I will be buying my new guitar pretty soon.  It will be most likely ESP LTD or an Explorer.  ;)

i'm using:

1968 Fender Mustang (the last year before fender was bought out by CBS)
mid-1970's Fender Telecaster

both of those are all original parts, except the whammy bar on the mustang went missing a while back.  if
anybody knows a reptuable place either online or in the NYC-metro area that i could get a reasonably authentic replacement, let me know.

the amp i use mostly is a small Pevey Backstage, so i don't annoy the neighbors.  then i have a really mellow Traynor tube amp with a rediculous amount of reverb and a pretty sweet tremelo.  then there're the various pedals, which i don't feel like getting up to look at.

influences:
pretty much the usual classic rock suspects (zeppelin, clapton/cream, hendrix, chicago, etc.), plus parliament, james brown, various other funkalicious types.

right now i'm setting away some funds for a les paul.  fenders are nice, but for that nice, smooth, jimmy page/b.b. king type stuff, you need a gibson.
California sunshine, sweet Calcutta rain;
Honolulu starbright, the Song Remains the Same.

I wanted to learn how to play the thing. The guitar I mean.

Then I head Mike Oldfield warm up before starting on Amarok. I then heard that there was no way I could ever be close to anything remotely like good at guitar, if measured by him. And he was just warming up. So I gave it up. Sad, huh?

Lost Roads - finally released!

I play an essex flying V through a terrible peavey amp, with a few crappy DOD pedals. ;D

I'm looking to upgrade my Pedal to a Digitech Metalmaster soon (pretty cheap for a digital pedal), and as soon as my brother gets a new amp, I get his current one, with isn't near as close to its death as my amp is.

Once I get a decent job, I'll be able to afford a new guitar. Right now I'm looking at the Epiphone Gothic V, and after that I'm going for an ESP KH602.

Ahhh finally Creeping Death, good to see you.  :)

Yes I have been looking at that Hammet ESP, but I'm having trounles in choosing one if any. I might just get a regular ESP LTD and make it sound and look like Slayer's lead guitarists ESP LTD. But that means I have to throw in some 81s, and I need a job for that.
So untill then, I must get an ESP LTD without any spify upgrades and work from there.

The 602 is IMO the best Hammett model. The KH2 is a Bolt-On, and the 602 is Neck-thru, and that's pretty much the only difference (cept the 2 is a few thousand dollers more). The 502 is just plain cheap. It's got crap pickups compared to the 602 (HZs as opposed to the 602's EMG 81s).

Jeff Hanneman's guitar from ESP is good, except it's pretty much the same as the KH2, and costs about $4,000 American, far too much.

The 602 is just above $1,000, VERY good value. Sure the KH2 is better quality, but it's a bolt-on (I love neck-thrus), and costs way more $-wise.

Thanks Creeping Death, I hate getting into detail and looking into guitars too much.   ;) hurts my head.

So who's everyone's favorite band?

Well if you already havent guessed mine is Metallica, Metallica Fan Club forever man \m/ ;D

my second favorite will have to be Iced Earth with Rhapsody, and then Slaer and Pantera cut the third place. then comes Megadeth and Motorhead.  Apocalyptica are a good band that isnt really metal, but sort of metal at the same time.  :)

Metallica 1st
Opeth, Rhapsody, GWAR 2nd
Iced Earth, In flames, Testament, Dark Tranquility, Blind Guardian 3rd
At the Gates, Megadeth, Rise Against, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Incubus 4th

Well those are my favourite bands, in no particular order. I like a ton of different kinds of music, so I can't really rank the ones from different musical styles.

Well you first look at the brand, the type of the guitar. for instantce a Fender is a good guitar while the Squire, which they make, is a piece of sh*tt.  ;)
So then you look at the pickups. The pickups are going to vary depending on what music your going to play. If your into metal you'll look into EMG pickups such as EMGs or EMG 81s or EMG Humbuckers.  To know the different sound you have to play them. While Humbuckers sound good clean, the 81s give of a  powerfull distortion.
Now then you look on how durable the guitar is. You dont want to buy a guitar that will fall appart after a year of use, you want it to last. Then you might look into looks. Like flying V or something more radical like a B.C. Rich guitar. I like ESP LTD, go look at one. They are nice and neat and you cna do alot , ALOT of things to one.  :)

Hope this cleared some things up.

At the moment, I am still on a Squier P-Bass with the 15W practice amp. It ain't brilliant, but I didn't buy it to be a top end instrument. I use it for gigs, and until I get a recrding deal (or I'm rich), I won't get another bass. The rich part comes in because I am getting a custom bass made for the next one, and it would cost upwards of two thousand pounds  :-\

Anyhow, what are people's opinions on the following:

59J or 9W Bartolini pickups?
MM or BD Humbuckers?
And is the special Piezo Bridge worth the extra money it would cost to install one?

Oh goody, another thread I can get into  ;)

Main gear consists of:

1983 Ibanex X-Series Destroyer hotroded with a Floyd Rose Trem and a DiMarzio Super Distortion Double coil in the bridge pick up.

Jay Turser custom Les Paul. Not his new stock stuff. Its a red flame top with the abalone fretboard inlay (see my pic)

1988 American Kramer Baretta with a single Seymore Duncan and another Floyd Rose trem.

I play through a 150 watt Randall half-stack (the cab is loaded with Jensens) and I use a Digitech GSP 2101 with a foot control for effects.

This is from the last gig we played on May 30th.
