Go on, laugh.
You know you want to.
I've spent a fair amount of time and money putting ths little lot ready and I'm about ready to crack out the paint...

Warlord & 4 Hearthguard,
2 Living Ancestors (one on bike/sidecar),
2 Guildmasters,
Servitor,
6 Exo-armoured,
4 Exo-armoured on Trike,
48 warriors,
7 Adventurers,
2 Bikes,
1 Attack Trike,
and a Termite
more soon...

That's a lovely collection. I never got hold of any exo-armor trikes myself, and have stopped collecting, but those are really lovely.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
-
OH lord wounderfull, gw hq should build a cathedral.
will be watching. HOw expensive was it?
-
Cool.
That will be a very neat project.
Apart from Rasmus' Squat army I never seen that many Squats in one place.
Are you going to play with the second ed. rulesbook / codex or will you use a current codex?
-
Fantastic, what a cracking collection. I've a small quantity of squats from rogue trader days around somewhere. I'd be interested to know how you are going to play these as well - I could be inspired to dig mine out.
-
I'm gonna give Rasmus' 5th ed version of the original RT list a go, but in games where a legal codex is required marines makes most sense...
Warlord = captain/chapter master
Living Ancestor = Librarian
Hearth guard = command sqd/honour guard
uild master/Ad mech (& servitor) = Master of the forge/Techmarine (&servitor)
Exo armour = Sternguard/Terminators
Exo Trikes = Marine bikes
Squat warriors = Scouts
Guild bikes = Scout Bikes
Attack Trike = Attack Bike
Termite = Drop pod
Thudd Gun/rapier = Thunderfire cannon
and so on.
Some serious painting will occur this weekend, stay tuned!

I managed to get some painting done today...
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi128.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp168%2FMabrothrax%2F101_0251.jpg&hash=16b6af68fca3b46b8f2ec682ea400df93e56987c)
The first 10-man squad is under way. I've decided to go for an old school kind of scheme using ultra blue against various browns & bronze.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi128.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp168%2FMabrothrax%2F101_0256.jpg&hash=c1961330aecab5c9c04acf05b11677d98a8792c1)
The exo-armoured trikes are getting their basic colours sorted,
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi128.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp168%2FMabrothrax%2F101_0261.jpg&hash=c4fce1c19bcb3cf5d0c7d506fbf70c9dd4777cfb)
whilst the basic Exo-armoured squats have had the bases worked on. So far that's two layers of GW snow, I'll probably add a third.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi128.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fp168%2FMabrothrax%2F101_0264.jpg&hash=92cd68774b3bcec7727868bd87bbe328ee098c57)
Before I get much further with painting the army I need to get a whole load of bolters to swap out most of the lasguns on the warriors, figure out how to equip the Warlord, Hearth guard and Living ancestor - and therefore acquire or convert arms/weapons, plus I need about half a dozen 60mm round bases and a few of eh new bike bases.
I like the look of the 'Mechanical Hammers MKII' available on maxmini and might go for them for the Hearthguard.
Not sure yet.

Why not Space Wolves? Logan, several units of Wolf Guard, Rune Priests, and a whole lot of Lone Wolves as Slayer-types? And Blood Claw Bikers as Squat Engineer Guild Bikers?

Managed to get a little more done today...

@Mabrothrax: Nice progress.
I also like the colour scheme that you chose for your squats.
Do you use GW paint or another brand?
-
Lovely selection! I only have some heavy weapon squats and a few chaos exo-armoured squats.... which brings me to a little point which you might want to know if you are a purist, your exo-armoured squats are actually chaos exo-armoured squats:
http://www.solegends.com/citcat911/c2058squatschaos.htm (http://www.solegends.com/citcat911/c2058squatschaos.htm)
I doubt anyone will really notice, and it is not like any of these models are easy to come by, so they are a perfectly valid substitution.
I don't think I have ever seen a termite though....
-
Do you use GW paint or another brand?
It's all GW paint, except for a random big tub of generc brown (burnt sienna) I use for the bases.
your exo-armoured squats are actually chaos exo-armoured squats:
Yep, they're Chaos squats, as is one of the ones on trike. I thought about trying to do a pure chaos squat force, but this force will be ambiguous in it's loyalties.
Need morre termites!
-
If you don't mind using stand-ins, you could use the Boring Machine from Ramshackle Games.
It's probably much cheaper, too.
-
SO cool, I've always been a fan of the squat exo suits, I'll probably end up buying some ,some day.
The bikes are some cool, this army is truly unique. When I see this I start wondering why GW won't make anymore squats ,they do look awesome : (
