Mime disruption table
« on: January 28, 2002, 07:01:31 PM »
I put this up on the general board as a reply somewhere i think but thought i might get more response on this one ;D

What do you guys think of a Mime disruption table?  now that would be fun.  I was thinking about units getting paranoid and shooting their own men , or getting Ld modifiers, and some other stuff.  Should it be a rip off of the Alaitoc?  Nah. anywho, this might be fun to develop

I love it!!! plays well with the Mimies fluff as well  (hariquine calling card:the unit is pinned for d3 turns)
As for the codex idea I would love to be a part of that.

rough draft

1:No effect
2:Random unit gets a permanent -1
3: Unit chosen by Harly player gets -1 ld
4:Random Unit is pinned for D3 turns
5:Unit chosen by eldar player is pinned D3 turns(Kenaz's idea)
6: Unit (random of chosen?) must pass Ld test or
becomes paranoid and shoots any units that move within 12".

just rough drafting, and this is may be a bit overpowered(yeah it is), any feedback on how to make it better/fair?

I think how the mimes are superb infiltators and all the idea of them pinning and such is great.  The fluff of them going into a super-guarded base and leaving their insignia in the main super-computer room type place and leaving undetected is just SO COOL!!!!!!

Sure ;D
1 d6 for every ranger/ pathfinder unit before battle begnis

1: No effect

2: Random enemy unit on the table is taken off and must start in reserves instead.  I f the enemy doesn't  have a table edge for the reserves to enter from then the unit arrives from the centre of a random table edge
3:Random enemy unit on the table starts the battle pinned.   If unit immune to pinning, this has no effect

4:  Same as 1 (unit starts in reserves), except unit choosen by eldar player, and not at random

5:  Same as 3 (unit starts pinned), except unit choosen by eldar player, and not at random

6 ;D:  The Rangers or Pathfinders may shoot once at one enemy unit  chosen by the eldar player, regardless of range or line of sight. (fluff reasons).  Resolve this before the battle starts and if the unit is pinned, it will start the battle pinned

One shot per guy that is, or at least i hope so.

This would work well for the most part for mimes, but it should have a harlequin flavor on at least one of them, probably 6, as they aren't sniping and firing at the enemy from long ranges before they are organized :-\

Feedback por favor.

I think they disrutpion table should remain as it is, except that for 6, a single uint is automatically pinned at the start of the battle but suffers no casualties.

It's just fairer and generally easier. Now it's a case of converting this into points...

so #6 would be the same as #5?  would be more simple, and points would need to be added to the unit... darn repercussions.

I think it pretty much got there.
Everyone estimate a new points value for a basic mime in light of this.

I say +3pts each -this makes the equivalent of a 1-shot heavy weapon for the squad and is just slightly higher than the probable value, 2pts would make it slightly too low.

#6: the mimie unit sets up mine feilds or bobby traps be for returning back to warn their Great Harlequin.
The Harliquin player gets to place d3 mine feild (or bobby traps in build) any were in they deployment area. use the hidden marker rules

Now guys, any idea for new units we could have in the harlequin army? Or just changes to the army?

I have been informed that the harlie codex is complete as is pretty much as it is, but have not been told about any new troop types, although my source seemed to be hiding something...

If I was to change anything with the harlie army I would reduced remove the power blades from death jesters, reduce their WS by 1 and increase their BS by 1.

I think the idea of Mimes throwing preliminary Chaos into a battle is a good idea.  Maybe Design special rules around scerios, these disruption tables can be special rules for Harliquins Prliminary bombardment, Fortifications and such.
