1000pt. Dark Eldar Tourney
« on: May 11, 2005, 10:38:16 AM »
Hello everyone,
I will be playign in an tournement soon, and an trying ot get together a new army. I've was always interested in the Dark Eldar, so I thought I would finally give them a tryand make an armylist for them. I know there supposed to be a fast moving army, and that  there high I is good for assaulting so heres my first DE list. I want to have a pretty good army list before I start start buying. Comments welcomed!

HQ
Archon                                                        376pts.
-pistol,agoniser,combat drugs,shadow field
Retinue
-7 Incubi
Raider
-Dark Lance,Night Shield

Elites
- 6 Mandrakes                                               90pts.

Troops
Raider Squad 1                                             170pts.
-Sybarite w/agoniser&pistol
-7 warriors
-splinter cannon
Raider
-Dark Lance,Night Shield

Raider Squad 2                                             170pts
-Sybarite w/agoniser&pistol
-7 warriors
-splinter cannon
Raider
-Dark Lance,Night Shield

Warrior Squad 3                                           100pts.
-8 warriors
-2 dark lances

Warrior Squad 4                                           100pts.
-8 warriors
-2 dark lances

Total: 1006pts.(52 models, 3 tanks)

My plan is to move the HQ&Raider squads  up the board and into CC as quickly as I can, while the  2 warrior squads will FoF and give cover fire for the raiders with the dark lances. The mandrakes are there to keep the enemy worryed as to where they might show up & help in CC.

Drop the night shields.  The purpose of those raiders is to deliver your assault units into assault range, night shield won't keep them alive so you're just giving away points.  You really won't get anything from them.

Drop the mandrakes, they have a neat deployment trick but its essentially useless.  For 10 points more you can get 4 more models and 2 Dark Lances which is far superior.

Look into wyches for your assault units instead of warriors.  They really are a huge upgrade for assault units!

I know its been awhile, but heres the new list atlast. My goal was to squize as many bodies in 1k as I could. My tactics would remain the same, try & flank the enemy with the raiders , while FoF the remaining squads & shoothing the crap out of the enemy once in range.i will probable have 1 of the raider sqds. fly up the opp. board edge from the HQ& other Raider Sqd. to force my enemy to split fire. I like the list so far, what do u think?

Hey! Mandrakes can be very useful in a tourney (does it involve objectives?)

Upgrade some of the dark lances to disentegrators for a nice Strength 7 Blast!

I'd drop the incubui down to a five man squad anything more than that is overkill.

Your missing the best DE unit, wyches. With the points saved by droping three incubi and taking out a raider squad(not very effective in CC anyways), you can get a unit that dominates CC.

You might want to think about taking a WWP if you want raiders to live longer than a turn, you either need lots of cover or a WWP.
