Well I only moved to Brizzle about 6 months ago.
I've been into the Broadmead store maybe three times and I stopped off in Cribbs once on a Sunday afternoon while my wife was in John Lewis.
I lasted about 20 minutes watching some games before the shrieking of 10 year olds drove me to find shelter in a book shop.
When do you usually game there? It seemed like a creche while I was in there....but it was maybe two weekends before Christmas so it's no surprise that all the mums and dads were leaving their brats while they were off shopping.

Unfortunately, my current army is on hold due to time and financial constraints, so I'm unlikely to make this or the London tourney.
But I'll be up for some smaller games fairly soon if anybody's up for it.

Ah this sounds cool Al, I may well have to attend this. Henbury school is easy enough for me to get to aswell so that's groovy.

That would be cool, I won't be able to play though. The club has demanded I don't play and instead be a judge for the event (can't imagine why.. ;))

Yes, not good. Which is why we formed a children free zone with the club thus keeping the shreiking down somewhat, most weeks anyway. You could always play Dark Future you know, all you need is a toy car with some bolters blue tacked to the roof! (is only a fiver to turn up too...)

I like small games...for a while they were the only ones I won! Listen - if you're ever anywhere near GW Bristol on Tuesday evenings (thier games night) let me know....I'd love to have a game.

Yeah Sundays are a bad day to go in to GW Cribbs; it's "intermediate" kids day or something; I rarely go near the place on sundays.
Saturdays are ok after 3-ish when all the starter games are done with.
Wednesday nights is 40k gaming night, Friday for Apocolypse and monday is specialist games if you're interested in those.

I live with one of the staf members and it's only 10 mins away which is why I frequent the place so often. You'll see Fal in there a fair bit too as he works in the Mall.

Hey. I am Welsh!
I just sort of slipped and ended up on the wrong side of the water.

There do certainly seem to be two distinct gravity wells in the UK 40k world.
We should find someone who can host a tourney in Oxford or Swindon or Reading or somewhere equally horrible, and make it Bristol vs London vs all comers.

Sounds good. I'll be there, assuming:

(A) I'm free that weekend, and
(B) 1500 points of Deffwing are ready to roll by that point. (12 Nobz and some battlewagons and/or dreads still to paint)

Lots of people turn up just to socialise and chat, or play our selection of boardgames (Talisman, zombies and so on!).

Will this include the much-vaunted Talisman day?

Must ask Jay about T-shirts, as well. Are they coming off the rolls now?

If there is someone who attends the Spikey Club in Reading , maybe they can inform us of the next event in that particular area . Hopefully at Newbury Racecourse again , there's lots to be said for air conditioning !

There's also the good old favourite of "Hey Nikki, you know you're picking Dave up from work an my house is between yours and the mall ..." ;)  But yeah, Sundays I tend to manage to pop in for about half an hour during my break before the screaming of stunteddwarfpeople gets too much.  Other times I'll come in before or after work or during my break.  I'll be the short one with too much hair and too loud a mouth, yelling at people for using inks or drybrushing but not actually painting myself :P  You tend to be guaranteed to see me on a monday evening unless work conflicts, just because Specialist Games nights tend to be nice and relaxed to go to.

Hymirl, how do I bag me a ticket?  Send an e-mail and reserve or do I have to persuade a parental that it'd be a great idea to give me a lift into a Vanguard gaming night to hand some monies over?

My place has been provisionally booked , will send payment next month . Dan is going ( Dark Future !) , Rob is definitely interested in attending , will hopefully hear a confirmation this weekend . Will also advertise on our clubs forum , maybe get a few more attendees .

Are there any other B&B's/hotels/backpackers :P in the area besides the one mentioned on the rules pack  ? Just in case it ends up full . I've only been to Bristol once , and that was on the way to the airport , so not to familiar with the UK's largest open air urinal ( program on the UK's worst public loo's mentioned Bristol city center , this was a few years back though ..... ) !

Tailisman Day I know not much about, its still in the works and most likely appear at some point (I could be a little more vague if that helps?). T-shirts are rolling off, most of us have them. Featureing the Vanguard logo on the front and something custom on the back (mine has my mecha avatar which you currently can't see for reasons I'm not willing to go into). Some of the ork players have taken the varient "Vanguardwaaargh!" logo which you might prefer. Talk to Jay, either via e-mail or the club forum.

Hymirl, how do I bag me a ticket? Send an e-mail and reserve or do I have to persuade a parental that it'd be a great idea to give me a lift into a Vanguard gaming night to hand some monies over?

Use the link in the picture on the first page to get the rules pack and page three of that is a form which you can post with a cheque to the address listed (don't mail it to the school, we aren't there except on the tournament). Or you can drop by and give me the cash in person (who as a treasurer is happy to take money off people).
Incidently I keep meaning to go up to cribs on mondays to get some epic gaming in, might actually do it sometime. Plus I can distribute flyers to people!

Super, that'll all be cool.

Can't say I've ever needed somewhere to stay in Bristol. :D If I gave you any advice it would only be because I'm pulling it straight of internet which would probably be better done yourself as at least then it would be first hand. Although I sincerly doubt that we'll cause as vast overload to Bristol's hotelery, its not on the scale of the GTs or anything.

See, getting drunk and talking to Jay at the keller is FAR more efficient :P  Looks like it'll be a case of convincing the parentals that it'll be cool to write a check for me :P
Mondays will be Blood Bowl tournament, and currently I will have NO monies until I get paid fri but the THOUGHT will be there in WANTING to give you money ;)

Well , it's confirmed . Team Tanelorn is sending a definite 3 members down to this little shindig . It's looking like all 40K too ( Tau , Nidzilla and  ??? ) . Yes , Dan likes choosing his army about 10 minutes before he has to start travelling , it apparantly enhances his karma or something ....... But a rough guess would be Orks/Bike SMurfs/Drop SMurfs .

How many confirmed people are there so far , and whats the limit of players ? Just curious . Guessing in the order of about 50 players ?

So far we've sold just under 20 tickets, and have a load more of people being intrested and promising to buy tickets in the next couple of months. (Although I'm not sure if yours have been added to that total yet). The limit is around 50, we've got space to spare so if we get extra bookings we'll speedly put together more terrain. ;)

I'm a big fan of Bike Marines, he should use those!
