1000 pt army/Tyrant help
« on: July 21, 2003, 11:54:44 AM »
Here's my 1000pt army, but I'm not sure what kind of Tyrant I want for it. That's why I'm asking you guys.
(model cost/brood cost)

22 Wraithgaunts (troops) - Basic, Leaping, Adrenal gland: +1Init., Scything Talons, Hive Node
(10/230)

8 Nightgaunts (troops) - Basic Extended Carapace: 5+Sv., Fleshborer
(8/64)

16 Spinegaunts (troops) - Basic, Spinefists
(5/80)

9 Genestealers (troops) - Basic
(16/144)

Ravener (fast attack) - Basic, Rending Claws, Scything Talons
(45)

3 Widowmakers (fast attack) - Basic, Winged, Adrenal Glands: +1WS, Toxin Sacs: +1S, Extended Carapace: 4+ Sv., Rending Claws, Scything Talons
(44/132)

3 Warriors (HQ) - Brood Ruler - Basic cost, Extended Carapace: 4+Sv., Venom Cannon, Scything Talons
- Basic cost, Extended Carapace: 4+Sv., Deathspitter, Scything Talons
(47/37/121) - 47= Brood Ruler point cost, 37=Basic cost

Hive Tyrant (HQ) - Help me please

816 pts total. If you have any suggestions and are shy in points, its cool, I'll add another Ravener (they're just too cool)

Assuming you want to keep the rest of your army the same, I'd recommend a Flying Tyrant with 2x Scything Talons and Warp Blast. A Tyrant on foot is better with Guards, but that would put you over the limit; therefore, the flying Tyrant is probably a better choice.

I would, of course, recommend replacing your current Troops with Scythegaunts.

the thing is that I think that u are spending to many points on bio-morphs.  gaunts are good it you use them as is with just sything talons and +1 to their weapon skill. that leaves them at 7 points a model. 32 can be in a squad=224 pts. thats nothing really. My opinion is that you do not use geanstealers....the y are way to expensive for a basic army list.  only use them on heavily tanked armies. Remeber: numbers are your friends don't spend time on to many upgrades.  the only thing that should rock is ur TYRANT

this is my tyrant:
Tyrant-winged, 2 sets of sything talons, +1 WS, +1S, +1 Initiative, and extened carpace

the second one should have: venon cannon, +1 BS, +1Strength, sythign talons and extened carpace

Ok, i didnt want to say this, but i really want to avoid the whole 'winged Tyrant' because to be honest, I don't have the money. Last thing I want is to spend anymore on wings.
Genestealers - consider them gone, but I've started my wraithgaunts and Nightgaunts and hell, I like em.

Thanks for everything else though !!

you cant use warp blast and venom cannon in the same turn right? Is there a reason for both?
