No close combat for Marines
« on: October 6, 2008, 12:58:14 AM »
1) I've tried to find ways to give my standard marine with the new codex a chain sword and bolt pistol but it seems that only a sergeant may have one. Am I missing a rule somewhere or is any one who used marines as close combatants seriously screwed over?
2) Are there no more Terminator Honors that grant a +1 Atk or are they under a unit profile somewhere?

1) No. Basic Tac Squad Sm have 1 Attack. No more, no less. (Bar modifiers such as charging, special rules, etc.)

2)No more Termie Honours. As in they don't exist anymore.

I just use assault marine squads (drop the jump packs) in rhinos now. the only problem is it isnt scoring.

I thought it said you could replace bolt pistol or boltgun with a chainsword.  So you could just go without the boltgun to get the extra attack.

In a Tactical Squad, ONLY the Sergeant may trade out whatever for whatever.
In a Scout Squad, ANY model can change out X for a CCW.

Thus, if you want a Close Combat squad in your troops selection, Scouts are the only way to do it.  However Space Marines are not entirely useless in combat either.

Nope, that's the Blood Angels codex (possibly Dark Angels too but I don't have that one, certainly not downloaded, nope, nope). Space Marine codex doesn't provide that option, you get what you're given

If there is anything that recent politics has taught us, it is that quotes taken out of context can mean what ever you want them to.
