Avoid using specific stats for weapons. It's against forum rules and cam get us in trouble with GW.

If you're going Saim-Hann it would be a waste not to take the scatter laser of only to stay completely out of charge range (sometimes shooting range too).

I'm not fond of the Saim-Hann bonuses myself and prefer to run my Windriders as Biel-tan, Ulthwe or Alaitoc. Much better benefits.

They do get benefits in that you can move and shoot heavy weapons on your Vypers and Windriders. If that's the play style you want to employ. Shining spears will like the charge rerolls as well.

It's just that I prefer the shuriken weapons in Windriders for the AP.

While this is allowed, the optimal range and movement patterns for these guns is different. Cannon bikes want to move and advance every turn and be 24" away from the enemy. Scatter bikes want to be 36" away. I'd run 9 scatter bikes and 9 cannon bikes instead of mixing weapons in squad.

Partninnja is on the money, scatt lasers staying at long range is what you want as Saim Hann.

The sheer volume of shots will take most infantry down, they also have enough volume to dent light tanks, typically they put in the finishing blow.

I don't see too many people playing Saim-Hann, mostly because the other factions get better buffs, but its also because most armies now can easily get things to where they need to be, with pin point deep striking or just straight out insane movement tricks, so keeping scat pack at range is not as easy as it once was.

If you're going to run Saim-Hann Vypers I would also suggest to use heavy weapons as to not waste the bonus. What heavy you take is very dependent on what the rest of your army looks like.

For strictly anti-vehicle I personally would run missile launchers. Same strength and damage as a bright lance but with longer range, and a secondary profile. At the cost of the better AP value on the lances.

If you have plenty of anti-vehicle, say if you were running 2-3 Crimson Hunters or some other dedicated anti-vehicle unit a case could be made for star cannons. They're versatile against mid-toughness/wound targets with a predictable volume of fire.

In either case, still take the bottom shuriken cannon for added volume of fire if you can spare the points.
