13th is better for me by far, 27th is too near back to school for my kids.
The venue isnt a bother to me, although an over night in the area would be a possibility.

well, despite having agreed the date the church hall where it is "normally" held have decided that they are now not free during August... BFG inform me that the deposit will be returned to them. The potential venue is somewhere that they have used in the past for some other events.

Its a bit further than Bracknell, thats for sure (unless your from that side of the country, and probably about half from last time were) - but it shouldn't be too difficult to drive to (be sure to have a sat nav)!

Take a look at some of the pics on their website na dfacebook page... looks like they have anice array of scenery which should make for good looking tables!

I'll say it's a possibility, certainly interested. Depends on how much it'd cost to get there, my job, and my misus, who believes the idea of travelling next door to play toy soliders is ridiculous, nevermind to Bristol.

updated initial post with more information on the venue - including "local" overnights. as mentioned - people should make themselves heard if they cannot attend either one of the proposed dates, and then we will go with th eone that affects the fewest. (!)

Errrr, why does the date have to change?
Both of them are bad for me, though the new location is excellent.

If it must be one or the other then the 27th is my choice, but my missus won't be happy.

I'm good with either date and the venue is great :D
I'd planned to head over to Triple-Helix in the next few weeks to have a look around anyway, so I can check it out for us.

Although the location looks great it's tripled my journey time.

I can't do the 13th, but the 27th is do-able.

I'll do some checking with the better half, and a mate I could stay with.  I'll let you know in the next day or so.

27th is out for me. I have a larp event to go to. 13th is a yes.

Given the above info I will assume that if it changes to the 27 th that it is only because you don't want to get your arses kick by yours truly.  ;D

T.
However, everything about Tarrin is unfair and should be sanctioned with extreme prejudice.

The Globals have issued a 2:1 ruling that yes, yes everything about Tarrin is indeed unfair. We have also been sullied merely by contemplating this.

Yea, unfortunately we are unable to have the 20th at that venue. So we propose the week before , or the week after. So far, it looks as though the 27th is better for most people (we will ignore Tarrins comments!)  :P

So, after just a few days we are at the 50% mark for spaces (thanks to now being able to get 30 gamers!) I will be sending out pms to others which have been part of the event in the past but have not found this thread yet...

If we could get a venue in Bristol for the 20th would that work better for more people?

Count me in chaps - should have some pointy-eared-freaks ready by August!

Steve, THW

LOL just clocked that we have a chap from triple helix wargames here!?!

@ Dizz, Dan (of BFG) has been able to pencil in the dates with THW already - Dan tells me they have used that venue in the past and so know what to expect and how things work there. They are able to give a great deal on the price, at short notice, which means that we do not need to increase the cost of the tickets whilst still being able to invite more gamers!

be aware, that although the venue is different, the event will still be arranged by BFG. It would be unfair on BFG, and the work their members have gone through so far to decide on another venue altogether.

However, when we all meet up at the tourney - or on the forums after it, we can look at all our options for the next tournament if you like. What do you think Dizz?

If it's a done deal already then fair enough. I thought it was actually the dates rather than the place that was causing people the most problems, hence the offer.

Sounds good. The Bristol tournament scene is in excellent health, so getting hold of the 40kO for a stint would be great fun.

I'll reserve a spot for myself (Andromidius - Matthew Thornley).

Though I am a little wary about it being in Westbury...  My ex lives there.  And its not a big town.

I'll be there, but for the first time I won't be playing.

I'll be shouting at people. Telling them what to do. Where to go. Who their next opponent is. Let them know when they get in my way, if I don't like their jive or if they need to look prettier.

I'll even think of a fun scoring system.

No preference on date; I think.

Considering last year's performance, I think you not playing is a great idea ;)

Just ot add to the sotry and Oink updates
We at BFG we're informed on our Game Night Monday by the Church bookings officer (who was fumin as well) that he had been informed that they (the church) would need to reserve the hall for the WHOLE of August on the provision that they were expecting a special day and so WE had to be bumped @;'#* '' .

Triple Helix have an event on the 20th else they would do the same day.
I've worked with them and thought that at such short notice that they would be a good bet

Triple Helix is out of the main town and in a local industrial estate. So unless she wanders around industrial estates often then you should be fine.

Maybe that's why she's the ex!?

Also, I am updating the first thread to show that tickets are now on sale and you can buy your ticket through Paypal.

The date will be confirmed shortly - please note that it looks like we will be going with Saturday the 27th as it seems this only affects Tarrin. Whilst we would like him there, he clearly feels that larping is more fun - which is queer. (Tarrin, feel free to whack me with a rubber sword at your soonest convenience   :P)

There is one other possibility - The Boss of THW has offered that we could have the SUNDAY the 21st if people feel they are unable to move weekends? Now, I know previously we had all agreed that saturdays were generally better than sundays but if anyone would prefer to keep the same weekend as initially proposed, and go with sunday then we can do that too...

Due to August being a month of major work commitments, its too tricky. Also not helped that my IG force hasn't recovered from its partial theft when loaned a few years back.

Getting paid enough to replace the loss (and more) by October but not before then :(
Its an even stranger day when you have a fat Games Workshop-Fanboy Ninja declare to end you for something you did for April Fools on Teh Interwebz.

It's a strange day in the world where I find myself agreeing more often than not with Swiper.  :D
