The List of Crisis Suit Configuration Names for 6th Edition
« on: April 24, 2013, 10:28:11 PM »
I wanted to update the list of weapon loadouts with the new edition and the lastest FAQ as well.  Please feel free to name some of the ones I missed with the ????? and suggestions for other workable load outs!

Here's what we have for the single weapons

One sure mark of a fool is to dismiss anything that falls outside of his experience as being impossible.

I've been thinking about what to call my Dual weapon suits.

I'm going to put it out there that "Mirror/Mirrored" be used for those configurations as a prefix to their Twin-linked name variants or to their single weapon. Since the term mirror is a know word in the Tau language that we know they might use.

Dual Plasma Rifles -
Mirrored Burning Eye
Mirror Blades

Dual Missile Pods -
Mirrored Death Rain
Mirrored Fire

Dual Fusion Blasters -
Mirrored Sunforge
Mirror Forge

Dual Burst Cannons -
Mirrored Tempest
Mirror Storm

Dual Flamers -
Mirrored Heatwave
Mirrored Souls

As a strong believer in forging new terms though, I have the following alternatives for anyone who thinks they need new ones. I'm currently siding with Mirror/Mirrored as a Prefix.

Dual Plasma Rifles - Searing Blade

Dual Missile Pods - Flame Waker

Dual Fusion Blasters - Solar Forge

Dual Burst Cannons - Storm Bringer

Dual Flamers - Twin Souls

Also Some of the suits that have a Twinlinked weapon plus another weapon already have names:

For example Fireknife with a twinlinked plasma-rifle is a Fireknife-6, but with a twinlinked missle-pod is a fireknife-7. I don't agree with these but these are what people have been using.

I strongly recommend we stick to this for the time being.  However since the Targeting Array (TA) has disappeared :( a + to denote a TA is no longer necessary.  Therefore I propose that using the current official names we can signify if a weapon is double.

Dual Plasma - Knife+
etc...

Twin-Linked Plasma Rifle & Plasma Rifle - Burning Eye+
Twin-Linked Fusion Blaster & Fusion Blaster - Sunforge+
etc...

Missile Pod & Dual Plasma Rifle - Fireknife+6
Missile Pod & Twin-Linked Plasma Rifle - Fireknife-6
etc...

Sure it's a bit rubbish but it's clear, easy to remember and quick to implement which was the whole idea of these names in the first place!

Only popular combinations should have names otherwise it's impossible to remember what's what when people pull out the Mirrored Death Torrent Rain of Fire ??? (Commander with TL-MP, MP & Flamer perhaps :P ) and expect everyone else to follow them.

Ultimately whatever we come up with here won't have any impact for the Greater Good as we'll have to bow to the high Aun's wishes when they've sorted themselves out (both Advanced Tau Tactica :: Index page and Games Workshop)

I'm in no way suggesting that we should move over there as currently there are a lot of stubborn idiots with very little experience not abiding by the ATT membership primers.  Here the conversations are better, more focused and friendlier :)

I do, however, like some of the names you guys have come up with esp. Storm Bringer, Searing Blade, and Death Torrent ;)

I would also point out that the easiest way to avoid confusion is to just write out the words. Acronyms in a codex like this are a be-atch to figure out, so I'd recommend everybody avoid them as much as possible. A couple extra keystrokes won't kill anybody.
