Eldar in Harlequins ?
« on: October 2, 2003, 05:35:24 PM »
Hey, I am just starting a harlequin army, and was wondering if there is any way I can include my void dragon phoenix in the army (without cheating).  It is a heavy support choice for an eldar army.  Does this mean I can take it as an elite choice for harlequins, or use the army detachment rule (which i don't know, if someone could explain it to me it would be appreciated).  Anyways is there anyway way to include an eldar void dragon phoenix in a harlequin army?

im pretty sure the only legal way to take eldar in a Harlequin army is to use the second detachment rule - which basically means you hafta fill another FOC to take the Pheonix.

It might be easier/better to simply play eldar and fill some, if not all, elite slots with Harlequins ... ?

Well I want to have a harlequin army (except for the void dragon) ... therefore i don't want to take them with my eldar as elite choices since then I only get 3.  However is it a bad thing to use another FOC. (what are the disadvantages to it, or what is the problem ? do u need opponents permission?)

well, for one, its only used in high points games - but any game that you'd take a pheonix for should be high enough.

the main negative is that your opponent also gets 2 FOCs, so they'll be fielding that many more troops.  is it really worth it to have your pheonix in exchange for 6 elite slots???

True.  Hmm.... would a dark reaper squad (without exarch) count as an elite choice at least ?

I dont think there's anyway to get Reapers as elites slots.  If you take them for a Harlequin army, they'd be on the second seperate FOC, and still be HS, same in a fully CWE list.

Is that what you meant?

I am talking about using the eldar online harlequin rules now.  So i believe i could take a reaper squad without an exarch as an elite choice.

Yes you could, but the VoidDragon is not on the list, so you can't include it.
