Doesn't seem like it would be to good of an idea, being the only infantry unit in an army full of tanks it would absorb every anti-infantry weapon your opponent had available since they wouldn't have any other reasonable targets... basically resulting in one dead infantry squad in a single turn... 2 if your lucky...best to not give your opponent any targets rather than 1 thats easily killed.... it's all about target saturation.
Same goes for the Chimera... any mid-strength weaponry that your opponent had would go straight to this relatively weakly armored vehicle and get rid of it fairly quick
