For those that know him he needs no introduction ,I personally bumped into him with Parak by my side a few years ago at games day.  For a long time now he has always been a flag bearer for all things imperial guard and this army is no exception.

I remember this guy.  He was in the mega-article in issue 213 (my first one, infact) of White Dwarf, along with about 10-15 other massive Imperial Guard armies.  Wasn't my favourite army, but it was quite nice.

Hmmm its really niecly painted, but lacks anything more to make it stand out not worth £750 by a long shot not even £200's worth of models there!

You know, I was thinking the same thing.  It's only when you look at the closeups that you see the detail and attention put into the models - at a distance you'd never be able to tell!

Still, nice army.  Some rich kid will probably buy it to show off and then resell on EBay in a few month's time for half the price :)

he chose a horribly ugly colour scheme - the exact shades of colour he used were completely off... his skill as a painter carries it off, but only at close range where you can see it.

his converting leaves something to be desired also, look at the sandbags on the tanks... horrible.

the first thing i do when i get a new army is spend hours deliberating over the colour scheme, you need to get it right.

faithless

p.s, hes better than me by lightyears, which is what bugs me... he couldnt get the basics right

...Aaaaaaaand you completely missed the point of the topic.  Thanks.

The army is fantastically painted, but I agree with faithlessmonkeigh the sand bags look like flattened peices of chewed gum.

not bad but so not worth that amount of money.

And yes those sandbags are just awful. A decent sandbag takes a few seconds to make from modelling clay, I know I just turned out about 100 of the damm things last night for a terrain piece, to see such an awful looking attempt on models that price is just ridiculous.

The painting skill is quite good but I agree the colours seem a bit odd, but thats down to personal choice after all.

i thought the sandbags looked like potatoes. lol. its a tater transport! RUN!

the men were detailed nicely, and he did good work on making the vehicles looks weathered.

but for 1500 bucks, i better be getting like 200 guardsmen, a buttload of tanks, and an autograph from colonel commisar gaunt himself ya know? i didnt even spend 1500 bucks on MY CAR!!

seconded.

the 'classic' cadian colours seem really exaggerated - and what the feth is with the RED eagles? you can see the exaggeration when you look at the plasma gunner.

doesnt get my money im afraid - sont get me wrong - the guys techniques seem half-down, but his colour choices are a little odd.

i'd pay that amount of money for something done by REAL legends like tom schadle (guys from the b&c might know him as commander Y - minivault anyone?), jakob rune nielsen or perhaps that babe that is victoria lamb (how can someone who can paint models that well be so Yhwh-condemned fine lookin  ???)

sorry dude,

I get the hint of a little jealousy

you must all be blind, if that isn't pro then I do not know what is .Don't get me wrong some of your criticism is valid colour etc and the sandbags to look awful And I personally do not like the brightness of colour. But it is still pro

That sort of money isn't extreme after all it's a service he has to make some money ???

Why do you have any examples of a pro and their work

I have to concur, I stand by what I said earlier, the army lacks conversions and anything really stand out special - the price tag is on that account over the top. However the actual standard of the painting is right up there with the best of the pro-painted gaming armies you see out there.

Its no really jealousy but there are many painters that would be considered "pro" if they worked for GW. And no there arent many conversions or anything. I wouldnt mind paying out of my mind for this army if it was a complete army. The sad fact its like half an army.

And I paint like amphetamine parrot. Im not going to say he sucks for jealousy. I posted a GW original army a while back ago here:

This man needs to adjust his price to, at most, $800.  I have seen pro painted models, but they were also converted to give them a good fresh look.  This army is profesional but lacks charisma.

I have to say I do prefer the pics of the army Valhalla posted up. The new fred reed stuff isnt great compared to his older stuff. For example if you ever get to see some of his massacre at big toof riva tanks (including scratchbuilt hydra and recovery tanks as well as bigger things).

Well, if you're going to insult other posters, I'd suggest you do it properly without weaselling out of it in the very next sentence. One can't help wondering if you have a personal interest in the success of this auction.

You want pro painting? This is pro painting: http://www.coolminiornot.com/119495. What Reed has a is a decently painted army, sure, but it isn't anything especially interesting, and certainly not worth the price being asked.
