Topic: Archon Kit

Hey everybody. I've been out of the hobby for a while and I am now back and have started collecting again. I am not up to date with 6th edition yet, but I had a couple of questions regarding kitting out my Archon.
I was thinking of giving him a Djinn Blade (for the flavor) and was wondering what everyone felt about it. Are the other options better?
Also, I was thinking about giving him a phantasm grenade launcher, but then I noticed in the codex that he come equipped with plasma grenades. If he has the grenades already, why would he need the launcher?

I have never used the djinn blade and usually take the husk blade. As for the PGL, it has defensive grenades (please look them up in the BRB, not supposed to post rules) and it usually makes it worth it. I use them on my wyches and warrior units and pretty much anything I can put them on. It has really helped in a lot of my games. Archon+ incubi=good with just the plasma grenades and =great with PGL in case you get charged. Hope this helps

My next question is: Can anybody tell me what set the venom blade comes in?

I also believe the PGL allows the *entire unit* to act as if it has grenades, not just the archon. The Archon's plasma grenades really only help him.

I believe it's in the warriors box. If not then wyches.

looks to me like both the warriors and wyches boxes only come with a power sword/weapon. Do people just convert that into a venom blade? or is there a piece for it in a different set?

I don't believe that there is a weapon on the sprues which is specifically designated as a venom blade.  I just paint a slight green tinge on a bladed weapon.
