BT 1500pts. Changing over to 5th ed.
« on: December 6, 2008, 11:46:54 PM »
Hi all Spaceman here.

Here's a 1500 point competitive list. I haven't played BT under 5th ed yet so I'm interested in comments about how it will affect them.

HQ
Emperor's Champion With Accept all Challenges. 140.

Pretty standard,

HQ2.
Chaplain Bolt pistol + Holy orb of Antioch and 3 servitors. 136 pts.
This guys job is to maximise all zeal abilities and get the guys into combat ASAP. The Orb is there for wraithlords etc.

Command Squad
10 Templars
2 Meltaguns
1 Standard Bearer with Chapter Banner
1 Apothecary.
245 points.

This is there to ensure that all the squads go forwards when zealing. Where possible each squad will try to have at least one guy within range of the banner.
The +1 attack is an extra bonus.
Not so sure about the apothecary as it may prevent getting the zeal move when needed.

Elite

Terminator Squad 1
5 Terminators + 2 Assault Cannons = 240 points

Terminator Squad 2
5 Terminators + 2 Assault Cannons = 240 points

Basically these guys hose down any fast movers or high initiative targets that pose a threat to the main assault line. These guys were great in 4th ed but are they still effective under 5th ed rules.

Troops

Squad 1
5 Initiates + 3 Neophytes. All BP+CC weapons + Meltagun and powerfist.
135 points.

Squad2
5 Initiates + 1 Neophytes. All BP+CC weapons + Meltagun and powerfist.
115 points

Squad 3
5 Initiates + 3 Neophytes. All BP+CC weapons + Meltagun and powerfist.
135 points

Squad 4
5 Initiates + 1 Neophytes. All BP+CC weapons + Meltagun and powerfist.
115 points

I don't normally like to spend a lot of points on command but I having a squad run off at the wrong time is just annoying.

The tactics for this army are pretty blunt. Charge forward as quickly as possible with the Terminators hosing down any major threats.

How will this work in 5th ed vs most armies?
To those who say it can't be done.
I just did it.

Armies
Black Templar 2500pts
Orks 3500 pts
Imperial Guard 3000 points
Dark Eldar 3000 pts
Blood Angels 1500pts
Chaos 1500pts
