Taking fortifications
« on: November 25, 2015, 01:40:43 AM »
The rule book cad allows one to take a fortification. A lot of the New formations do not have this option. Is there a standalone formation that is just a fortification? Otherwise the army will be unbound if you take a standalone fortification.
Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should.

Well, I took a look. It would appear that according to pg 122, a "Fortification" takes up a FOC slot, and if a Formation / Detachment / Clusterbeslubber of Models does not include that option... it would seem you can't take one.

Rules query aside, 7th edition doesn't seem to promote the taking of Fortifications in the standard game. Is there a scenario you're looking at?

Not really. Was wondering about putting that ig artillery formation behind an aegis. Also battlescribe appears to allow you to take a fortification as a stand alone formation.

Tee-hee... I was thinking about the same thing. A CAD for bodies and a Command Squad, an Aegis. Then fill up on Ig-Co Basilisks. I'm going to have a tough time cracking down on the Eldar, if that turns out to be the real deal. ;)

Ally some Drop Pods for some Veterans, drop down some Dreadnoughts in Pods to support them...

Mont'ka - New Cadian Formations. In case you're not Dangerous Dave, and you're curious.

Picking my montka up next weekend, but it was a more generic question really based on recent observations.
