Slaanish army
« on: August 5, 2002, 04:33:17 PM »
Has anyone thought of doing an all Slaanash army.  I am a devoted follower of Tzeentch, but an army full of Noise Marines would look really cool.  The only thing is 30 points without upgrades is pretty expensive and won't allow for alot of models.  Still it would be a very shooty army.

Has anyone else noticed how the chaos gods are devided?

Nurgle and Khorne are CC specialists while Tzeentch and Slaanish are really shooty.

I don't really like how the old Noise Marines look, and I haven't had a chance to see the new ones in person yet...so I can't really comment. I LOVE the new Daemonettes though, they're perfect.

If you gave them a cool paint scheme, I think it would be fun...but I don't personally find the Emperor's Children to be very interesting at all.

The Gods are not divided, only the main armies you see for them. There are Khorne devoted armies that are focused on heavy firepower, and there are Tzeentch armies that are very close combat oriented.

2 things:

1. always include some normal marines. They noise marines are very effective but not in all situations. A regular chaos marine is a real all rounder.

2. for gods sake don't paint them pink! purple and yellow and a bit of fluro green is outlandish enough to be slaaneshish (that sounds really werid) but pink makes them look like they are on their way to a gay parade (this is not an insult to gays. i have no problem with them)

I disagree Fighting_Scars (and welcome to the Chaos area! =D). While that purple, yellow and flourescent green does sound cool, I have seen some great pink armies that look awesome. Remember that on the color arc, pink stretches towards gray, and so a light pink can be really eerie next to black.

If you make a Slaaneshi army, you are not limited to the sexually interesting pinks and purples. I think that any combination of stark color contrasts (that look good) or eerie combinations would prove to please the Lord of Pleasure and Pain.

The coolest look on the new Emperor's Children miniatures that I have seen is a pale yellow contrasted against a bright, bright green. It's very off-setting, but then strangely intriguing once you start to look at it. Perfect for Slaanesh.

I do, however, agree with Fighting_Scars that including some Chaos Space Marines would be a good bet. They're always reliable and can provide some good firepower to supplement your Noise Marines. Also, as a heads up, rumor has it that some of the Noise Marine weapons will change in the new Codex...at least some of their stat lines.

I agree on the color scheme.  I am not all for the pink's and purple's, but they can look pretty good if combined with the correct othr colors.  It just takes practice to figure out what looks good.  A very fine line between looking cool and creepy and looking kind of gay.

Exactly. I still think that the new Emperor's Children scheme that GW shows on the boxed set is really good looking.

The problem with doing greens and yellows is that you can't show the gold chains!

I've always wondered how one would show the silks that are meant to be worn by the ECs...

Is the codex for the Emporers Children in the new Index book or is it just in WD?  I keep hearing how great thei fluff is.  I would like to maybe do an EC army after I finish Thousnd Sons.

I have seen well painted pink marines but I think that purple looks better. If I was going to do a emperors children army I would use the pre-heresy colour scheme: Purple and gold. It is striking, looks good and is still outlandish enough to suit slaanesh.

Anyway back to tactics, I faced a slaanesh army at a RT awhile ago and he had 10 damonettes. They totally f*cked up my plan. I was charging foward with my hordes of guardians , blowing sh*t out of his marines and what happens a bunch of demons stop not one but TWO squads of 20 shooting for TWO turns. They did die but I lost because I didn't get those extra 80 shots.

Yeah, Daemons are good for soaking up damage...but they're even better with the new rules. Yay. =D
