I have no idea what legion I want to play.
The khorne bezerkers seem like the ultimate badasses. I mean they get in close your pretty much screwed.
The thousand sons are like stationary gun platforms and are the best at range i think.
The death gaurd can't be stoped with that extra toughness.
And I'm sorry but I know next to nothing about emperors children lol.
Or should I just take the best of all and go with the undivided.

If (like me) you can't decide a certain cult to go with you could get a mainly Undivided army, and then have one of each (and if you really want one of each demon units)

And for your HQ you could paint him in the four different colours (e.g. Soulder pads Red, Body Blue, Legs Green, Head Pink and cape etc. Black)

maybe a description of the gods themselves might help

Khorne: battle, hack/slash, martial pride, berzerking followers are mainly pissed off

Slaanesh: Pleasure, melting people down into drugs, boobies. followers occaisionally pissed on

Tzeentch: sorcery, AP3 Bolters of DOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!! nifty headdresses, plotting, scheming, followers have AP3 bolters of DOOOOOOOOM!

and last but not least

Papa Nurgle: peace, love, and crabs. happy pestilence,  followers just want to give you a hug (and thereby turn you into goo but it's the thought that counts)

gameplay wise Khorne is hack n slash
slaanesh is fairly balanced, able to hack and shoot both.
tzeentch is SLOW with AP3 bolters of DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Nurgle is... um... tough, kinda slow

honestly though undivided is the way to go if one of the gods doesn't grab you.

I agree patially with blitz wolf.  An undivded amy is your best bet, especially with the new codex.  You can then field which ever cult choice your heart fancies, likewise it gives a good core to start building up an army to one of the chaos gods.

Though word of advice don't paint your leader in four different coulours so you can use him with a different mark each game.  Thats just going to P*** people off, better off to either stay with one alignment, or make him look just plain undivided.

Or paint them anyway you like and use the "counts as" rules.

they are CHAOS after all... thier armor should be tie-dyed if they lived up to their name.
