Prince Yriel... used him as an archon?
« on: March 23, 2007, 01:48:41 PM »
has anyone else converted him up and used him as an archon?
he seems more fitting than the fatty male lord that we have now.

i use lelith as a wych archite, the female lord as the drachite, and hopefully ill use the male lord as the dracon, and yriel as the archon.

also: do his flags have the eldar designes embedded on them?  or are they a paint-on thing?

On the flags...I doubt it, in the picture, they look hand painted(i could be wrong though).

As for Yriel as an Archon, i was thinking of using him as my archon as well, however, i think that there will be alot of the Craftworld Iconography on it. Of course, if you greenstuff, you could probably smooth over those...

I was thinking of using him, but i don't know how he'll look on a skyboard...from the looks of it, his feet are stuck into the terrain base.

Thats a really great idea he would make a pretty sweet archon.  Much better than the flesh mask, giant claw guy.  A bit of conversion work is needed, but fairly simple stuff.  His flags do have the Iyanden symbols etched on.  I have him leading my Iyanden force right now, but I love your idea and will probably by another one to lead my Dark Eldar.

Nice looking model and sure to raise the Ire of any Eldar players you face.  Go for it.
Looking for a compliment here is like looking for a girlfriend in a cemetary.  You know you will probably not like what you dig up, but you'll take it anyway.

I don't see any problem with that, as Yriel stands as well representative for a typical Pirate Prince imho.

so, i bought him today, the flags did have the eldar crap on them, so i greenstuffed over him, filed off his soulstone, and began painting

but i fail at painting so he looks like crap atm, but i am pleased with my purchace.

espically because i always take a lord with a punisher, and he, kind of has a punisher.

You should try and paint DE symbols on the flags then.

Or if you want to add a bit of insult, make a sybol that's a mockery of the Iyanden rune and use that... you could even leave the original sketch blatantly obvious and play off of it if possible.

And that is one of the reasons why i didn't want to use yriel as my archon, i'm pretty sure that many will probably have the same idea. I personally think that the Archon should look as unique as possible

With dark eldar, uniqueness isn't that big of a problem. The chances of playing against another DE player are slim; the chances his paint scheme and archon will be the same as yours in practically zero (unless you use the actual Archon model... in which case, there's still a good chance that the other guy isn't)

Man, i want  to get a spartan(300) body...then i can be sexier than i already am  ;)

Good point Erin, however, in my area we have 5 DE players...yes, count them 5, they take up all the fingers on your hand!  :o Lol, good point nonetheless...

Hmm...i really hate the Archon model....So my archon is definitely going to be unique ^^

I had the idea of using Yriel as my Archon a while ago aswell. Although now that I am a poor university student with very little spare time (hell, I shoulden't even be here) he just sits next to the moniter on my computer desk. In all his unpainted glory.

Anyway, I like the model more or less how he is but I still havent decided what to do with his flags. I have narrowed it down to two options though, I could either remove the eldar symbols from them, file them down or what have you, then paint my own on there or, I could remove them all together and replace them with some large, scary looking blades or something similar.

Any ideas?

I'd replace them with trophy racks / gruesome talismans.

Skulls, heads, and so forth are fairly popular...

I like the big blades Idea... anything sharp and spiky fits well in a dark eldar army  ;D

At least, it does in mine... I dunno about everybody else, but with my warriors, I used every spike on the sprues. After about forty warriors, it became hard to come up with unique ways of placing the spikes  ;D
