Newest Wraithlord - tell me what you think.
« on: September 9, 2008, 11:38:14 AM »
So I have been playing around with the newer plastic wraithlords and this is what I ended up with:

What do you think?

one word answer: WoW  :o.

i love the water effect in the head, i think that is what you are going for. His pose is amazing as well, kinda like gearing for the strike. I like that each joint works together with your conversion, however my only comment is to the back cloak. It looks to me that you lost some detail from the water effect on the head and the back cloak.

That really wowed me.  An excellent job.  Wish Greater Daemons came in plastic so I can do that. :'(
Great job.

Thats awesome. I love the paint job to. How did you do the head?

Paint the head a dark blue, come back and drybrush in some shading with a medium blue, highlight with a very light blue, and then mix a medium blue wash and apply it selectively until the details appear to have blended together.  It also takes alot of going back and correcting to get right.  Patience is key.

Also, don't get in your head that once you've started painting you must finish it - if you don't like the way it is going, strip it with simple green (my favorite paint remover).

That is simply the best Wraithlord conversion I have ever seen.
And the paintjob is great too.

Hmmm.... where have I seen this before.......like in November 2007.....something about an Eldar army matching the 'Water' tactics or somthing like that, this is a pic I stored on my comp a while back:

Anyway, it's nice, nice painting, nice stance.... but generally in 5th... someone may be pissed off that cover saves are easier to get with your model.

My 7 Cents.
If you meet a bear named Sanctjud in the tavern, don't get into his van for candy.  I did once....it's sticky, salty, and really not very nice. :(
Raptor Jesus will get you Tangi... oh he will.

yes it will help with the cover save but

It's a great piece and I'm willing not to hold it against it.

I started it before I knew about 5th ed. cover saves.  It sat not quite finished for some months, and then I finally got around to it.  As is I'm thinking about using it in 'Ard Boyz, in which case I will just not worry about claiming all but the most obvious cover saves.

Awesome pose, very action packed.  And great unusual paintjob.

The only critisism I might bring up is that the cloak and "scarf thingys?" in the back are very static looking.  Not really in keeping with this very energetic and dynamic pose.

Wow, really good excellent work there bca11! I'll will link this to the Iyanden POC for that wonderfull Wraithlordy goodness. ;D

About Cover Saves - Yes it make it easier for the Wraithlord to get a cover save but take the drawback into account too: Everything else also get easier cover saves from the Lord as he is standing so low.

I agree, the cloaks look like they are just floating there and not moving with the model.

**jaw hits the floor**

Even better than you noraml awesomeness (is that a real word)... anyway, I am pilferring a pic to use within the Eldar thread for those just getting started (and you get full Kudo's of course).. Here is a Link to show you what you are now part of..

Wicked.

PS... Cover Saves aside, I don't think it is altered in a fashion that would suggest your trying to take advantage of a ruling, it done it taste, and it works both ways.

Great pose. What did you do to reposition the head piece on it?
