This is just a little survey (because I was bored).

So, not much to say really, just post the size of your 40k armies in points. (approx)

Space Marines: about 2K.
Imperial Guard: nearly 2K without tanks, but including Special Characters. With tanks: 3-4K (not including the Baneblade...).

Was a General of the Imperial Guard, now more of a freelance Captain sort of thing. Ish. Keeping the rank pins though, they look nice.

We get one of these "polls" every few months or so...   The question is rather pointless, however.

I have well over 10,000 points in Eldar models/vehicles. But I believe the most I can legally field in a single Force org chart is 5,000.

However, the reason this is a pointless question is, WHo plays with that?   Most scenarios and/or games have a pint value between 500 and 2000. Rarely do games go above 2500 points.

3k of Eldar, plus all the Phoenix lords.
As someone said, few people ever play above 2k, I just dont have time, but at least I have a nice flexiable selection to pick from.

Exactly!

I think that if you have more than 5 times the amount of points you usually play with, you have wasted some(alot) of money- because simply, no one plays with that much.

~1500pts of eldar (dont have it anymore)
1000pts of Space Marines
400pts of Imperial Guard (so far  ;))

2.5K Kroot mercenary(big and a lot of convertions really cool army)

I spend in two years and six month like  3000$ but that include to an empire army of 2000 points and a Dog of War army of 2500 points... yes that is a lot of money :-[ ,but , well I don't have any other addiction..... I sell all my games and the Playstation and stop smoking and drinking .  so I think I must stop climbing ... maybe not

Salamanders 2-3.5k?
Guard - soon to have 1k roughly

its not so much that i want to be able to field a huge 10k force its just i want enough models to cover any option(s) i should want to take. that is i would like to be able to field almost every single combo of force for anyone given army. Im noooooo where near this of course just thought its something to go for

Farsight Tau: 2300+ points (last time I fielded everything I legally could it was around 2300, and I hadn't even used all my models)

Ulthwe Eldar: 2300 painted, the rest is sitting it it's box or on my table to be painted, just two boxes of the two different Guardians though

Red Corsairs CSM: 400ish points.

both my Eldar and CSM are going to grow, if anything though my Tau are going to have to like just being sated with Firewarriors
