Question!
« on: October 24, 2002, 11:45:01 AM »
A gut told me today that we have played wrong all along when using the double streangth rule....
I just have to ask here.
Models with more wounds gets to save when taking a hit from a weapon with double strengh agains the modells toughtness. If they fail, they are killed outright.

Now my question is, do units also get their save? If it is double strength, but not enought ap???

Exampel: a SoB have taken 1 wounds from a scatter laser, (str6 ap6). does she get her 3+ save or is she slain outright without any more rolls????

realy need an answer to this fast!  :-\
Thanks for being fast on your answers......

no, you still need to roll to wound (2+) and your SoB would also get her 3+ save becase the scatter laser is AP6
The way of the warrior, the old code should govern all my actions.

yes, you get a save. instant death only matters for guys with multiple wounds. apart from that, it has no effect

The best way to handle the instant death rule is to do it LAST.

Roll to-hit as normal
Roll to-wound as normal
Roll armor or cover save as normal if AP allows

Then, for multi-wound targets, if there has been a wound and it was not saved (or the save isn't allowed) look at the strength of the weapon and the toughness of the attacker.  If the strength is double the toughness remove the model no matter how many wounds are left.
Over specialization builds in weakness.
