Some background on me. I play (try to collect) all factions. I've been collecting Ultramarines since 5th edition and they are by far my favorite space marine chapter. Also one of my favorite factions in 40k period coming in close to my 1st love (Tyranids) perhaps that's why I like Ultramarines so much, their fluff is well entangled to Nids. Having Guilliman released makes me feel all tingly inside so I try to include him in as many lists as possible because I've only dreamed of fielding him for the past decade so I will enjoy the moment (for years and years to come). Custodes I like aswell and started collecting them recently, not much to say about them as of yet.

Game Plan: Wanted to build a list with Ultramrines+Custodes using several primaris units that I am fond of. I also threw in some melee units in the ultramarines so that they can focus on counter charging in case my shooty primaris are under threat of asssault.

Game Plan: I wanted to see how Guilliman does with some dreadnoughts backing him up and shooting down some targets while the hellblasters are protected by -1 to hit and apothecary healing.

With the hellblasters, a Chapter Ancient might do more than an Apothecary, since he'll get 5 more plasma gun shots out of the unit for on average, even if they get completely wiped.

Yeah but I was strapped for points unfortunately. I do also prefer the ancient with relic banner.

The Vexillus Praetor is a waste of points for your list, to be honest.
The Vexilla Magnifica only affects Adeptus Custodes, and he will be swiftly outpaced by those Shield-Captains. The only time you are going to find him being of any use is during deployment, and if you are deploying in such a way that your Shield-Captains can be shot at, then you have bigger problems to worry about than can be corrected by a hit penalty.
He's, what, 132pts? Those points can be put to better use anywhere else.
