Captain Artemis
« on: July 19, 2017, 11:47:35 AM »
After a few weeks of off-and-on work I've finally finished painting Captain Artemis. Having been out of the hobby for about 7 years, it was definitely fun getting back into it, and I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.

Because of the amount of detail on the model I actually painted most of it prior to assembly. With the high gorget on most Deathwatch models I've found that you really can't paint the heads before gluing them in.

My one slight annoyance is that the background for the chapter shoulder pad is wrong; I saw the skull on the pad, and had recently painted a Novamarine shoulder for my Shadow War kill team, and my brain immediately went for blue, ignoring the fluff that Artemis is technically from the Mortifactors.  Oh well, a minor quibble.

Awesome job on his head.

Yeah there are a number of places you can't reach once these guys are glues, such as the back of the fragcannons.

Nulion Oil on the Silver shoulder pads/entire arm works really, really well, also Agrax does wounders for the Gold area's.

Wow for someone that has been away from the hobby for seven years that is a fantastic looking model.

Going by your painting tutorial you are obviously an accomplished painter so there isn't much more I can say. I really like the look of green gem (?) on the back of the models right hand.

Thanks! I imagined the gem was some sort of spherical computer display/radar thing. Basically just painted it to look like a round, glowing display.

Great mini Laucian. The cloak is particularly nice; lovely depth of colour.
