Sword and Spear  good idea but the cannon on each should may look a bit like a messy Wraithlord

Hmm removing them gives a bunch of points to play with but also means he will probably get mauled before making combat :( and my shooting is pretty low. I have some Dreadknights already so i might play with some ideas on them.

On the one hand I'd argue he's still a massive bullet magnet and brings a level of psychological warfare to the game  on the other hand I've bneen on the receiving end of Teleport >> Heavy incinerator.  AND I DID NOT LIKE IT  >:( >:(

Everyone will shoot it to pieces on the first turn if they don't want to die!

Liking the progress, and that's a lot of assault cannons. I'm guessing many targets will be doing the chaingun cha cha when it hits the table!

Thanks, I'm guessing after Plasma + assault cannons I should be seeing a lot of dead things in front of me. Well that's the plan anyway.

M4rt0k, post your list here so we can all laugh marvel at it.

I shall have to consider whether my opponent will down him first turn then i can deep strike or shunt from reserve... but yes it will be one hell of a target

Like I said before just bringing him, brings a psychological element to your game. Plus downing him is better than having one of your 10 man marine squads die.

So it has been pointed out to me that you cannot have special characters as your allied HQ. So I cannot take the Dreadknight :,( back to the drawing board then.

Ha! When the troops are done I shall see what I have in the bank and that might result in a chunk of resin :p

The Minotaurs finally have a full Tactical Squad built. Read on to see these guys all together.

I wanted to start using some of the Scibor basing kits I picked up so I tried a few ideas out to make use of them. My favorite at the moment has to be the guy vaulting with his combat blade drawn:

With all ten guys from the first Tactical Squad built I just had to get them together for a group shot:

I have had a lot of fun putting these guys together thus far; when they are all painted I shall have to ally them in to one of my armies for a game lol!

Hopefully by the end of January this army should start to be playable.

The resin base decorations are really quite nice! Great job on those guys.

I'd just like to point out that the contemptors sometimes work out pretty comparable in price to regular dreads depending on the weapon fit that you would want. I'm sure you've seen the Grey Knight Contemptors I painted on commission - and when you factor in that a regular dread still needs to buy 2x twin autocannon arms you realise that there really is only a slight increase for a much nicer model!

Of course, the arms have also recently gone up in price a bit - so if you were going to be happy using the out of the box dreadnought options then you will definately see the cost difference.

Still - they are lovely models, fun to put together - though I feel like you need one more hand! the model is incredibly poseable!

Cheers Oink!

Yeah I am not against the Contemptor I already have one for my Wolves it is more the argument of cost vs style vs game use.... I would end up putting a spear and shield on it but then it would be pretty pants in game and I would be swapping out for kheres assault cannons. At that point what was the point in taking it.

Most importantly I am skint at the moment lol so I am trying to get as much out of my bits box as I can. When i run out of bits and I have not reached 1750 I shall have to break out the wallet lol

Just, No!  They are a amphetamine parrot to put together!

I put mine together last night and its was a mucking fuddle. You're right O:nk, you need at least one extra hand if not two.

Joking aside it is super posable and well worth all the frustration. I'll post some pics later of my efforts.

EDIT: as requested. pics of THE BEAST...

Erm how did I not see that beast before :O

I think you might be changing my mind about the Contemptor lol!

After getting the first Minotaurs Tacrtical Squad done I am on a roll and I have already finished the Heavy Bolter guy for the second squad.

Again just like with the first Tactical Squad I want to keep a consisitent basing them using the Scibor kits to help with that. I think the large base makes the model look very imposing:

Now I need to work out how I am going to do the rest of the squad; I am looking to keep them all in a support fire theme.

You've only just seen THE BEAST as I've only just put him together!  8)

To be honest I hated the model when it first came out, now I love it.  like O:nk said its so posable so from a modelling point of view the implications are limitless.

I'm loving the Scibor mounts for your guys. They deff add 'stature' to the models. Game wise though there an obvious line of sight issue  ;)
