Shadow's WIP Eldar
« on: July 14, 2012, 02:08:56 AM »
Since I'm horrible at motivating myself to paint/build, and am getting an ever increasing stack of unfinished models, and boxes, I figure it's time to post a thread documenting my progress, so I'm forced to keep going. (Hurray for peer pressure)

I'm horrible at doing a single project (especially when it comes to the gems, sooo many gems), so this will likely jump between many different models/projects.

Right, with the self deprecation out of the way, it's time for some pictures of what I've done so far.
I'm working on an Ulthwe Army which is loooong overdue, and decided to keep my army a uniform colour, while still trying to differentiate between the aspects.

As I type this, I notice some of the pictures I planned to post right now are on my laptop, so I'll add those later (it's 6am, I should get some sleep hehe)

Here's my fire dragons, in my Ulthwe scheme (WIP)

And this is what I'll be working on soon:

Love the hybrid color scheme of old Ulthwe new Ulthwe color. The Dragons look nice so far. Can't wait to see those Forgeworld models. I'll keep my eye on this project, looks interesting.

Well I've had time to dig up/take some more pictures, so here's some more of what I haven't finished yet  :-[

4x wave serpent, and 2x fire prism/nightspinner (magnetized to be both)
The serpent in the bottom right had a minor accident with varnish, which is why the black isn't as nice.

Prism/spinner a bit closer

Ulthwe dire avengers

And of course I had to check if I had all parts for the forgeworld models:

Nightwing

Revenant titan, all laid out, with an unfinished wraithlord for size comparison near the chest.

That wraithlord a bit closer, to show my bone colour:

And Irillyth, shadow spectre phoenix lord

I have pictures of the other shadow spectres and such as well, but will leave those out as there's not much to see so far.
If anyone really wants to see them, they're on my blog here: Kaela Shelwe: Forgeworld birthday goodies have arrived, Revenant titan,

Just a short update.

Spent last night in a dust mask preparing the nightwing, so it's ready to get painted now :)

Meanwhile I've got parts on the way for the titan (magnets, model for base, etc) so with a little luck I'll be able to get started on that one soon as well.

As I mentioned, I'm not good at sticking to a single project at a time, so since I'll be playing some 6th ed games hopefully next week, getting my allies for my 1500 pt list ready took precedence over painting the nightwing this week.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I've ordered a macro lens and mini photo tent, so once those arrive I hope to make a LOT nicer ones :)

Well it took a while longer then I thought, but with actually playing some warhammer, and having family visit inbetween, it couldn't really be done faster.

I'm quite happy with how it turned out, aside from the slightly bent shuricannon at the bottom, unfortunately this one is incredibly tenacious in bending back in room temperature, no matter how many times I give it the hot water treatment.

Looking good :)

Did you get the Nightwing mechanism to work correctly?
Mine isn't cooperating with my efforts so will be glueing it in place  :(

You mean the Brightlance ;)
Your Shuricannons are topside  ::)

I have the same problem with it as well.
On both of my Nightwings  >:(

PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha that'll teach me to post when tired ;) Brightlance yes.

The mechanism does work yes, but as you can see I decided to leave off the last part, so I could instead glue some magnets on.
It is a bit sticky though, have to pull the wings as well as the slide at the same time for it to work.

Well it's been a while, mostly due to me actually playing some games, and working on my necrons, as well as playing some computer games instead of painting ;), but I'm finally doing more Eldar stuff again.

Finished fire prism turrets yesterday, aside from a varnish spray, and gloss coat on the gems (weapons themselves not yet done completely)
All magnetized, so they can also be spinners.

Finished them up after some disasters with varnish (see Kaela Shelwe if interested)

As always, more/bigger pics on my blog
