Tale of Three, Formerly Four, Gamers
« on: April 11, 2012, 07:06:24 PM »

Hello,

My name is Jack, Aka Bassiecore, and i have an addiction... An addiction to plastic toy soldiers that is, and i have found myself with rather a lot of them laying around unpainted recently. So i gathered three like-minded (read: Insane) individuals, and we came up with a plan:

Taking inspiration from White Dwarf, we would create our own Tale of Four Gamers!

Unfortunately, the day we started, one of us dropped out. That means we are now a Tale of THREE GAMERS! Alex, if you are reading this: I am dissapoint.

That leaves us with the following armies:

Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons painted by myself, Jack/Bassiecore

Salamanders, painted by Jordan, known on this site as PaskPunisher

and Iron Warriors, painted by Lord Voldemort. And i am not joking. I said i would put this on the net and his reply was "I must not be named!". Jordan Green from the East Midlands, UK, suffers from slight paranoia like that ;)

Now we agreed when we started this that we would put the log up only after we had first completed at least a single squad. This has now happened so without further ado, here they are:

Thousand Sons!

Before pics, i will admit: This army uses the Grey Knights codex. I can feel the hate already, but i shall stick with it. Because i can :)

The first squad is nine strong, including a Deamonhammer, Halberd and Incinerator:

The specialists are mostly on the front row: Incinerator - Justicar - Halberd. The hammer guy is behind the Halberd-ist.

Another angle.

The keen eyed amongst you will notice that there are only eight marines there. This is because you are looking at the "army" as it was used in the Kill Teams matches held that day. Also, number Nine was not painted at the time. He is now.

also, you may notice in the first shot, and the next one, the Imperial Fist. This is Sigfried. He is my unit filler/objective marker, used if i ever feel like a 10 man squad, or need to play objective games. He *really* likes hanging out with Iron Warriors:

Iron Warriors!

Originally, Voldemort decided to play Black Templars for this, but the rumors of a new BT codex stayed his hand and he allowed himself to be drawn in by the lures of Chaos: He found these in his cupboard...

This is a Chaos Marine squad, using Codex: Chaos Space Marines. The squad includes 3 specialists: A Meltagun, Lascannon and Aspiring Champion with a Power Sword.

The Meltagunner was a total boss in the killteams games, proving quite hard to kill and doing fairly decent damage to every building on the board -_-

If you care, the Kill Teams games went as follows:
The first was won narrowly by the Salamanders, due mostly to the fact that my Justicar could not hit the backside of a barn with his Force Sword, and the Sallie Sarge introduced him to Mr. Powerfist. Damn.

The second game tied between my 1ksons and the sallies. We used objectives for the lol's and tied 2-2.

Speaking of Salamanders:

Salamanders!

This squad is annoying. Especially at 200pts when i cant take warding staves >:(

See what i mean? Melta, Combi-Melta, MultiMelta. He sure does love Melta Guns! I can see this squad being a real problem for myself and Voldemort, especially once we go high enough in points for Jordan to use Vulkan He'Stan.

A close up of the one we all love to hate: That Bloody Powerfist. Seriously, none of my guys could land a hit on him. Ever. Well, except with Storm Bolter shots. And he was wearing Power Armour...

Misc Pics!

The Three Stooges Squad Leaders: Aspiring Champ - Sergeant - Justicar.

We Love Space Marines! And they love you too!

Thats all for now folks,

Until next time!

Bassiecore.

First of all: cracking idea! But is there a plan for the rest of the series? Are you going to stick to the strict rules of Tale of Four Gamers? If you are going to be building the armies with that sort of structure, it'd be great if you could lay out the rules for those of us reading.

Is there any chance that the others will be writing their own sections or are you going to be writing for all of you? Are you planning on adding an introduction which explains how you all decided on your armies?

I hope that doesn't sound too critical, I think there is a lot of potential, but I'm not really sure where you're going with it.

FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE EMPYREAN, I BID THEE RISE THREAD

*Coughs as smoke dissapates*
I swear, someone get on to Brother Kravix about fixing that damn smoke machine, we're all going to choke at this rate...

Hi, everyone. It's me, Lord Voldemort, the second of the three gamers and resident Iron Warrior. Admittedly, you know my name and address now (I am disappoint, Bassie...very disappoint), but I suppose that's too be expected. I'd like to point out that I didn't say it exactly the way my good friend here has portrayed it, but that's another story for another time.

Yes. Back on topic. Iron Warriors-why Iron Warriors? Well my friends, that's easy; Iron Warriors are easy to paint. /deadpan.
Seriously? I'm a massive Chaos fan, and have been since I started playing in 2007. Something about the spikes, skulls, daemonic gods and shocking lack of table manners speaks to me. And out of Chaos, the fluff thatmost intrigues me are the original nine Legions-those traitors that cast off the Emperor's shackles at the dawn of the Imperium and through n their lot with the Ruinous powers. Their tales of betrayal, Primarchs, and roads paved with good intentions excites the fluff gamer within me, and I'm always thinking on how to transfer the next Legion to the tabletop. In the past I've played Death Guard, and more recently Heresy era Night Lords, but the bitter sons of Perturabo have always been the subject of a special fondness from me. I dunno, maybe it's something to do with the rabid hatred of Imperial Fists. Or the unnecessarily large guns. One of the two.
So, upon this tale I shall be forging a might Grand company of Iron Warriors under the command of the Warsmith Lorkhan (get the reference, and we can be bro's) as they pillage, pilfer, and otherwise make a nuisance of themselves across the galaxy. We shall drown the weakling Imperium in a Storm of Iron!

But you don't want to hyperbole about yet another Black crusade, amirite? You want to see pictures of toy soldiers. Well, I have a second CSM squad at the WIP stage, currently assembled but not painted. I'll endeavour to take pictures and post them up tonight. Or maybe tomorrow. Who knows?

'till next time then, Iron Within...

IRON WITHOUT.

well i guess that answers part of your question, Razyus. The plan is for us to each post our individual updates as and when we do stuff, and i will post a summary of our progress periodically. Also, i will be the one that posts any battle reports and game summeries we do.

As for structure, we are rather free about that. The aim is to have a functioning army of 2000 points by the end of the tale, at which point there will be an apocalypse game. how this will run is undecided, but there will be slight bonuses built in if we earn them.

Basicly we are going for a legal army first, then building from there. Please note that this is only a guidline and the Minimum Required:

Month one: Kill teams! - 1 fully painted squad.

Month two: Kill teams+! - a second squad painted, HQ optional. There was a special "event" here which will be detailed in a later post.

Month three: 500 points!: 1HQ 2Troops minimum.

Month four: 750 points....

and so on from there.

On to my thing,

No, i dont have a fancy banner like Voldemort, but im working on it :D
So, why the 1ksons? Its simple. I wanted to use the most overpowered codex possible: Grey Knights!
...
...
...
No, not really. I actually first had the idea for a Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons army after reading the, quite frankly Awesome, A Thousand Sons novel from the black library. This was around the time that the GK codex was released so i figured why not combine my existing Deamonhunters army with the new and improved rules, while doing the paint scheme and conversions to represent my favourite  Chaos Loyalist marines :D

The project did not get off the ground at the time though, due to exams and the 4000 points of WFB High Elves that were taking up my time. And are still not done.  :'(
However, they have had new life breathed into them due to a certain someone (you know who you are) who kindly donated the spares from a box of the new Grey Knights.
At the time i was in the process of stripping and cleaning my old Chaos army and my Deamonhunters, and i happened to do a mock-up for a Thousand Son in Mk3 armour (see first post, second pic, middle of second row :)) and things just went from there.

Enough rambling though, and on to progress.

This month i managed to paint up a squad of Legion Veterans (Purifiers) and my chosen Hero, a Librarian by the name of Menes Kallion, 4th Fellowship.
The 4th intrigued me when i read their book. They were not on Prospero when the Space wolves invades, having been sent by Magnus to an undisclosed location before the puppies arrived. It is hinted in other sources that they went on to found the Blood Ravens Chapter - incidentaly, amongst my favourite Loyalists. Convenient that :)

Pics not uploading properly atm, will post them tomorrow, along with the game summery and highlights from our special event :)

right, so some of my pics are now behaving and i can show you my latest work:

This is le grande fromage himself, Librarian Menes Kalliston, with his good friend Sigfried.

This is his personal bodyguard of Veterans/Purifiers. They have 2 hammers, 2 incinerators, 2 Halberds and will soon be getting a warding stave. I think that's everything...

Another pic of the vets. just cause.

Thats all for now folks,

Until next time,

Knowledge is Power. Guard it Well!

The first lesson, folks, is that 'tomorrow' is never actually tomorrow...

I lied, bite me. Stuff happened, like last day of school tomorrow. Crying women, cake, you know, THAT sort of thing. Not me though, no siree. Iron Warriors don't cry, we weep molten rage.

Blah blah blah. Pictures. I present, Troop squad the second;

Picture quality, picture quality everywhere. I swear, I really need to build a lightbox at some point. And learn how to take pictures.

Aspiring Champion *As of yet not named*. He sees something interesting over there, and thinks you should all be aware of it. Great guy, that one, does birthdays, Christmas and Bah Mitzvahs too.

The icon bearer, holding his bolter one handed true-grit style like a fearless boss. Why no custom IW banner? Because **** the police, that's why.

Special weapons gus. Again, I refer you to the comment about picture quality. Plasma gun and H-bolter might be an odd combination, and not particularly metagamey, but Heavy Bolters are cool and so we have one.

The closet loyalists. Why make things when you can just steal them? Especially from Imperial Fists?

The regular guys. Read that as meat shields, because seriously; Plasma gun.

I'll paint them when I feel like it and add pictures then. Right now...pizza ;D. Until then, Iron within...

Never fear, the loyalists are here! (Thousand sons don't count, yeah I went there)

Sup, I'm Jordan, the last of the three gamers to arrive to the party. I have to keep the balance with all the chaos filth running around in this tale. Could be worse, could be dark eldar.

Anyway,why salamanders?
Well, my first army is Imperial Guard so for my second I was hoping for a more elitist army (enter MEQ equivalents) and being the staunch loyalist that I am it had to be a loyalist marine chapter. The next problem was narrowing them down, I liked the look of alot of chapters; Blood angels, Imperial Fists and Salamanders were the three I got it down too. Blood angels are extremely popular and kinda overplayed and I attempted painting an Imperial fist to horrifying results which noone should ever have to suffer looking at. Seriously. Another important area for me was the fluff and this is where the Sallies shone, philanthropists who enforce their humanitarian ways with flamethrowers. Sure, why not? Plus, the story about the marines malevolant is always a good laugh, yea, my chapter master is better than yours.

So for this tale I have some goals, the complete destruction of the Iron Warriors, hopefully ending with my Primarch's return to throw more tanks at Perturabo.
The Thousand Sons? We shall see.

PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

My Salamanders Librarian, painted by the 1k Sons player (Bassiecore) . All credit goes to him.

And next up, my terminator assault squad. These ARE painted by me :P. These will be Vulkan He'stans squad that he runs around with beating stuff up. Notice how they ALL have TH/SS?  ;)

So here, finally, is this month's update. A tad late, but better late than never, right?

This month we deviated from the plan as the group was getting tired of Kill Teams. Instead, we devised a custom scenario which had us fighting together against a common foe, but with different objectives.
The game we settled on was the three of us battling across the Zone Mortalis board at Warhammer World, to retrieve our own objectives. But there was a catch. On the way, we would have to fight an ever increasing tide of ZOMBIES!

Each of us would use two squads and an HQ choice (basically  our whole force), divided into two teams. The HQ would begin on the board with one squad, with the other held in reserve to be brought in once the first squad was depleted. If the HQ died, they could not be replaced.

The begining of the game, after our first movement.

My first Team, consisting of a Grand Master and his bodyguard of Purifers. These guys were packing some serious heat between their Cleansing Flame power and 3 incinerators!

The first Team of PaskPunisher: His rather burny Librarian and Tactical Squad.

And finally Voldemort's First Team. His HQ is currently not ready, so his place was taken by my Siegfried, much to his "delight".

The Opposition. Zombies were played by my Nurgle/Khorne/Malal Guardsmen, along with some other spare models once we ran low.

An Iron Warrior peeks round a door, only to see a horde of Grunts running towards him! Voldemort fearlessly declares that "It's all good" and charges!

Things did not go so well for the Salamanders as half of their number was wiped out by a horde of Grunts which got stupidly lucky when rolling to wound.

The Iron Warriors would pay dearly for their early game bravado. They chose a different route to the objective than the others and were swamped in close combat for most of the game.

My Ksons did themselves proud this game, loosing only two of their number. Both times, the casualties were caused by zombies that had been set alight by my incinerators and promptly exploded! They reached their objective and proceded back to the entrance to make it out alive.

PaskPunisher's Second Team. Thunderhammer/Stormshield Terminators. They teleported in once the Tactical Squad was down to three men. Who survived the game like total bosses.

Injured squad members could even be carried out by their fellows!

Edit: The Aftermath.

I noticed that i mysteriously neglected to inform you viewers as to the actual outcome of the game -_-...
Both myself and the Salamanders obtained our objectives and made it back to the exit point relatively intact. However, the Iron Warriors are a slightly different story. They did not make it to their objective, lost their entire first team and HQ and most of their second team. Needless to say they were not amused.

Voldemort, if your reading this: I recommend firing your Aspiring Champion from the first squad. He couldn't hit the backside of a barn that game, or the one before... Replace him with the Meltagunner (who got a higher kill count than the rest of the IWs combined...)

Stay tuned for next month's exciting instalment of the Tale of Three (formerly Four) Gamers,

And remember kids, dont do drugs!

Until next time.

Long ago, I used to update threads regularly with witty content and good quality photos...
then everything changed when the Fire nation attacked.

So I finally got the second CSM squad painted, now that exams are all done. They have yet to have transfers or basing applied, but I’m sure you can use your imaginations.
These are what I call my ‘dirty’ Iron Warriors-they look a lot darker, and in some ways grittier than the first squad. I like these ones a lot more, they’re purely tabletop standard but I think they do an admirable job of representing the IV Legion. Also, look; caution stripes! I know they were missing from the first squad, and I’ve kept them to a minimum because I’ve never really liked them, but at least they’re there now.

The Aspiring Champion, who STILL doesn’t have a name (any suggestions are welcome). I am fond of his striped power claw of safety, even if it’s not particularly artistic-and no, you don’t get a prize for guessing why the helmet trophy on his back is yellow…

The icon bearer. Now that I think about it, the lack of a dedicated Iron Warrior banner annoys me, but that can’t be helped now. Maybe I’ll give the Terminators when they eventually get here one. He rocks Chaos Glory, as this is a fluff army first and foremost and I’ve already got a Siege Berserker squad planned.

The Special Weapons dudes. The more I look at it, the more and more it looks like the Heavy Bolter wielder has two bananas strapped to his head. His chest eagle is red, because it’s meant to be scavenged from an Imperial Fist-he kept the decoration’s original colour as a memento. How thoughtful.

3 regular squaddies. You can see the Mk7 helmet much clearer here, and the true grit style bolter. I like one handed bolters, it says something about the Marine’s strength that they can still use it accurately.

More bullet catchers. The Mk6 guy has the helmet, a Corvus shoulder pad, and the chest piece. He’s on a quest to catch ‘em all…armour pieces, I mean.

My personal favourite member of the squad. I couldn’t tell you why, I just have a good feeling about this one.

Group shot. They look a lot less crude at this distance.

With both troops choices done, it’s time to move on to HQ, and this is where things get complicated. With the likely release of Chaos Legions (the codex) within the next few months, with 6th edition breaking and all, there’s a chance Iron Warriors will be getting a new Character model, or at least a new upgrade sprue, and if Warsmiths get their own rules it’d be wise to wait. However, I’ve also been wanting to convert a Warsmith out of the Direct order Techmarine, or maybe a Daemon Prince like the one on Siege of Castellax’s cover art (which is AWESOME, by the way-if you haven’t checked it out do so right now). There is however, a third option.
I’m reading Endeavour of Will from the Architect of Fate anthology, and it’s rather interesting for Iron Warrior fluff. There’s a character who holds the rank of ‘Forge-Chaplain’, and seems to be an Iron Father equivalent for Chaos. Granted, this character hasn’t really been featured in detail yet, so he could be unique to this warband, but it’s an interesting concept to say the least.
Grr. Decisions, decisions, decisions. If I can’t point a Basilisk at it I don’t want to know. I think I’ve said everything I need to for now, so until next time sons of Olympia; Iron within…

No update from me today (sadface, just a quick reply.

Firstly, the reason there has been no updates is because I have been busy painting up some space wolves for Alex. This is important because Alex is soon going to be joining the tale again after dropping out quite soon after we started.

Secondly, Thank you for the comments :D. Regarding the zombie rules, I am happy to e-mail a copy to anyone who wants one, just send me you e-mail in a PM.

Thirdly, there will be no activity on this thread from my end at least, because I am leaving to have a holiday tomorrow and will not be in the country for two weeks. Rest assured that this is going to continue as planned. I think PaskPunnisher has some progress to share and I have most of a new squad done so they should be up soon after I get back.

That's all folks!

Until next time

Not an update as such, but in case you've been living under a rock these past two days:
A disturbance in the Warp

 ;D

"We have failed.

On the Hulk, we failed. On the Plains, we failed. On the walls and the gates and the bloodsoaked sands of our very home, we failed again and again and again.
I swear to you now, brothers, in this place, that we will never fail again.
We will never let such weakness cloud our hearts and minds again. We will never be forced back by those not worthy to bear the name Astartes. We will never let those loyal to the Throne of Terra and the Corpse God beat us back without fear, without pause. Every one of you that kneels here now, look me in the eye and answer me this-when was the last time they faced us with fear in their hearts? When was the last time they drew blades against us, in the knowledge they might die? It was a long time ago, my blood kin. They believe us weak. They believe us soft.

We shall teach them the error of this thought path.

We shall cleave a path of destruction and wrath across this weakling excuse for an Imperium in the name of our lost Father. We will tear down those walls we strove to build at this sick Empire's birth. We shall expunge the sin of faliure by bathing in the blood of the Witch, the Wolf, and the Dragon. Our time has come, my friends. Let us show them the might of Olympia. Let us remind them how we brought the walls of their precious palace crashing down. Let us make them remember why they feared us once, and shall fear us again.

Iron Within.

Long time no see, but I do finally have an update! This time, I've finished my scouts, which I decided would be CC scouts, because eye to eye is the promethean way of course.

The first group shot, showing the squad as a whole. You might notice that I've actually bothered to base them (something I find incredibly tedious), although I'm not sure whether to just leave the bases as they are, or improve them some how?

Squad shot 2, because pictures speak a thousand words. A problem I found with these scouts is the transfers. The standard infantry sized salamanders transfer just doesn't fit on the scouts shoulderpad, not sure whether to leave them out OR to use the no.7 transfer because the salamanders scouts are in the 7th Company.

A close-up of the sergeant, who is packing a power fist (converted from an IG one, and attached to a scouts arm) and a combi-flamer, from some forgeworld pre-heresy pack.

Aaaaand finally...

Need a light?

I can't help it but everytime I look at my scout sarge I feel like he's destined for chaos. There is an obvious reason for this, during painting I accidently cut myself (honest, no emo) and without realising I continued painting until I noticed and my sarge had some blood on him  :o
He now hungers for blood and is anointed by khorne, but oh well, until he goes full-blown chaos it's best to just bury your head in the sand.

So that about sums it up for this update, I am already currently working on the next addition to my force, the dreadnought!

Until next time,

Into the Fires of Battle, Unto the Anvil of War!

Sorcerer-Captain Kalliston advanced cautiously through the ruins of the Imperial outpost, his squad keeping close behind him. Wary of an ambush, the warriors of the 4th Fellowship kept a constant watch in all directions, the light of the full moon and their armour's auto-senses banishing the darkness of the planet's night.
They were being cautious. Brother Ankhu and his squad had been instructed to scout the area for the traitorous sons of Perturabo, but all contact had been lost.
As they approached the last known position of Ankhu's squad, the sounds of war reached Kalliston's ears. His eyes drawn to the sounds, Kalliston spied the Iron Warriors entrenched in one of the ruined buildings. They had formed a defensive line facing away from the Sons, and were blasting away at some unseen enemy with bolter and lascannon fire.
Kalliston watched as the light of a caged sun arced it's way towards an unlucky Iron Warriors squad, the fire from at least two plasma cannons turning the traitor warriors into dust.
Suddenly, Kalliston noticed movement to his right. Turning, he saw the distinct outlines of a dozen Astartes Warriors. Obviously alerted to the presence of the Sons, the mysterious warriors quickly turned away from the Iron Warriors and, with a feral howl, charged to engage the Thousand Sons.
Kalliston took a tighter grip on his shield and halberd and braced to meet them.

That's right folks, no updates today. Just some fluff and gaming overviews. YAAY!

Yesterday was important for the Tale, as it marked the inclusion of out fourth member - Alex's Space Wolves, into our esteemed ranks.
We managed three games at 750pts each, 1HQ and two Troops, using the 6th Edition rules.
Just saying: Beam spells ROCK ;D
The outcomes were as follows:

                         W/L/D
Space Wolves   1/1/1
Thousand Sons 1/1/1
Iron Warriors    0/2/1

Yes, that's right, ALEX WON A GAME! I know, i'm shocked too. His list contained a unit of Long Fangs who were easily capeable of wiping out one of our squads per turn. And in a game where you only have two squads each, that's not good :P
Of course, this only worked once, as in the subsequent games they were utterly destroyed as early as possible :)

Until next time,

Bassiecore

Ladies and gentlemen, haul the anchor and baton down the hatches, because on today’s big update from Olympia’s finest(?), we set sail for fail…

Before we go any further and I try to explain away my failures after, y’know, promising to never fail again, I realise that I’ve neglected to show you the HQ I’m rocking. It was very kindly made for me by Bassie a couple of weeks ago for my birthday, and it is-in a word-badass. Ladies and gentlemen; Warsmith Lorkhan of the XIII Grand Company.

Looks friendly, don’t he?

It does slightly depress me how much better Bassie is at caution stripes than me.

The brother of that insufferable fool, Sigfried. We will have our revenge on him in time I assure you, but for now, nothing like the smell of burnt Imperial fist in the morning.

He rocks a Deathscreamer and Mark of Tzeentch (urm, that is, a Servo Harness and personal force field generator…), but sadly he’s been murdered horrendously in almost every game we’ve played. On the bright side, he did enter a challenge with a Terminator armoured Wolf Lord and punch his face in despite not being able to ignore his armour saves. 20% cooler in ten seconds flat, people.
So you don’t have to be a mathematical genius to see that, from those rankings, the Iron Warriors have not been doing brilliantly. I’m not even going to deny it, the Space Wolves turned me into a chew toy and the Thousand Sons seemed rather miffed about the whole betrayal thing that led to them being turned into walking grit dispensers. The Salamanders haven’t been present yet in this latest series of games, but I assume they’d beat me too…which is okay, because it’s fluffy. :P
Annnyyyyywayyyy, after being beaten for the umpteenth time, I was getting (understandably, I feel) rather miffed about my loss streak. When I returned to my evil castle of doom, I set about trying to discover why this was, and after some more fancy mathematics I discovered that, in our 750pt games, I’ve been playing with an almost 150pt disadvantage…

Wat.
Fortunately, after sacrificing a thousand slaves and draining their blood into the bowels of the earth, the Gods offered a solution, proving, once and for all that evil will always find a way.
Lorkhan swore in the guttural tongue of lost Olympia as he crashed behind the wall. To his right, he saw two of Zuko’s squad fall, cut down by sustained bolter fire from the Star Dragons marines. He rose from cover, firing two shots off with his bolt pistol whilst his Servo Harness blazed chaotic witchfire. It wasn’t enough-they were being overrun.
This was supposed to have been a simple raid, Lorkhan mused, not for the first time today. The Iron Warriors, having been savaged by the Wolves of Fenris in a recent campaign, struck at an Imperial vessel seemingly alone in the void. Normally, they would have been more careful, conducted more scanner sweeps, but their blood was up and it had looked so easy. That had been their mistake. The Star Dragons hadn’t been far behind, and had surprised them. It had taken every ounce of hate they could muster to hold on this long.
Lorkhan turned and looked up as a figure entered the firefight. He moved with a strange grace, robes billowing from him. He did not carry a gun, nor made any attempt to fight back, and yet bullets seemed to detonate before striking him.  Lorkhan felt his anger rising.
Azazyel. The Sorcerer.
The robed warrior looked at the Warsmith, and even though his face was masked by hood and helmet Lorkhan felt the bastard was smiling. The Sorcerer looked back towards the encroaching blue-clad Astartes, giving an almost imperceptible nod. From the shadows behind him, two Iron Warriors carried the bodies of eight human slaves. They lay them down before Azazyel, as unperturbed by the oncoming foe as their master. They began to arrange the bodies in a crude pattern, removing the heads and setting them at the centre of the image. Lorkhan watched, intrigued despite himself.
When they were done, Azazyel moved forward, and began to intone words in a language that seemed to escape from his Vox grille in puffs of black steam. Reality buckled, twisting and warping, screams emanating from the rift. Ten figures steeped through, red flesh and corded muscle straining, saliva dripping from oversized tongues and pointed fangs. They were hunched and bestial, light glinting off their obsidian horns and bronze blades.
Lorkhan stood and made his way towards their new allies, still returning fire. He turned to look at the lead daemon. Two pools of pure anger stared back.
“Well.” The Warsmith said, simply. The Bloodletter grinned, and the pack charged.

See, I can do fluff too.
This squad of Bloodletters was originally going to  be part of a daemonic force that never got off the ground. Since I’ve got them, I might as well use them, and they’ll be fulfilling the role of summoned daemons. I could I suppose use their actual codex, but as they lack an HQ and I want to include some traitorous Guard in my force at some point, this will suffice.

Blood for the Blood God, indeed.

So that’s it for today’s Iron Warrior update. There will be another one before the end of the months, where rest assured…I’ll be back.  ;) ‘Till then, brothers, Iron Within…
IRON WITHOUT!

Great update Hope your iron warriors will do better! Getting some imperial guard allies can add some serious firepower even if its just a platoon of guys.

With those blood letters you can just take one of them and put them on a giant rock or imperial guy for an HQ. They die to bolter pretty good but they chop marines to bits!

Thanks man, if they do well I'm thinking of maybe getting a herald on Bloodcrusher and running them. 'Cause y'know...daemon space rhinos.

This question is a general one, but, when I get round to it, what regiment would people like me to Chaosify? I do already have a Renegade guard force that uses the (lovely) FW models, but they aren't really in an IW-esque colour scheme. Any suggestions are welcome.

One final note on Falcon's sig, as I am known as 'OJ' in our group...lies, lies and propoganda spred by the malicous Space Wolves. I do not cry anything but, as previously stated, molten rage.  ;D

I would wait just a little bit longer for the new codex might get some awesome cultist models, if rumors are anything to go by converting some imperial guard zombies might be in order.
