I would have gone for a more far east style pose with the power weapon exarch, with the weapon held behind him more, course that's much more work and your given pose works too I think, just not as dynamic as the dual catapult exarch :-D.

It looks good :) Nice, simple and effective colour-scheme. What's the plan for the Scorpions?

Excellent, just excellent. Those DAs look very noble.

Just what I would expect an Eldar would look like.

Taking a very long break.

Last day of March, and two weeks since I've started this "blog."  Today I've got some WIP shots of my Scorpions.

Kind of hard to see since it's metal and Green Stuff (GS) D=.  Metal is SOOO much harder to work with... ugh.  It's quite annoying.  Why does GW continue to make metal models when they can obviously make (better *opinion*) plastic ones > <!? I really wish GW would make more plastic models and get rid of the metal ones =___=.

Anyway, since Striking Scorpions are supposed to be specialists in dense terrain, I've tried to make the bases for the scorpions a little more ravaged than that of the Dire Avengers.  Going to be a pain to paint though D=.

I think the "plan (I'm assuming colorscheme) will probably stick with the White/Off-white/Ivory theme.  Make them coherent with the army, and at least stand out a little bit more when compared to other Scorpions.

[EDIT: I noticed how horrible/dark the pictures came out to be, so I quicky went to take some brighter pictures.]

All my WIP Striking Scorpions.  All have been glued together, and had their underarms GS gap-filled.

My Striking Scorpion Exarch.  I raised his left arm a little bit higher to make it seem like he was shooting the Shuriken Catapault on the Power Claw.  I may drill a few holes in his helmet like my Dire Avenger Exarch, but I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea... Also, where...

Female Striking Scorpion... repositioned her legs so they bent inwards a bit, and added breast-armor.  Spirit stone was taken from a Dire Avenger Dual Catapult... A real pain to stick on =___=.  Also I'm thinking of adding a loin cloth... like the Holwing Banshees, but... just wondering what others thought.

Another Striking Scorpion.  This time I bent the right arm and positioned it such that he looked like he was pointing/reaching with his Scorpion Chainsword.

That's all for today~.

I'm not sure about the angle but the breast armor "might" be a bit much too breast.

yes the breast armor is a bit big... but honestly not that much bigger than that of the female guardian breast armor... maybe can attribute it to the Scorpion Heavy armor...

Ugh.  Anyway, I'm redoing them right now.  Another thing I've found out.  Vaseline/Lip Balm is INFINITELY better than water when working with GS =_=.

My two Wave Serpents just came in the mail today =]!  I can't wait to get started on them... but first, I've got to finish the Striking Scorpions and mini-Seer Council.

Here are some WIP shots of the Scorpions... just to show I've not been goofing off =p.  They've been primed Skull White, base coated with Off-White and Ivory, and finally black-lined with a black wash...

One thing I've come to realize is, I've got to manually re-prime models to get the "hard to reach" bits that the spray primer doesn't get to.  Or perhaps just fully hand prime my models =/.  Can the more experienced of you tell me which method you use/prefer?  It would be very much appreciated.

Here's a closer picture of the Exarch.  You may notice I modified it from the stock product a little bit.

Might not be very clear in the picture... hmm.  But hopefully it looks good in the finished product =p.

Also, the female Scorpion.

You have no idea how many times I had to redo her breast armor... it was so annoying.  Finally though, I got pretty decent, and decided just to stick with it.  Also, slightly modified the armor on the abdomen so that it's a little more "feminine" as well.  Based it on the Howling Banshee abdomen armor.

Finally, while waiting for my paint/s to dry I've been working on my first Warlock.

He's based on a pretty coolsome Warlock conversion I saw on Cool Mini Or Not (CMON) which is a really great website to get inspiration from.  Apparently the original maker of this model also posted it on 40konline... but... yeah =_=.

More shots

Anyway, since I've received my Wave Serpents, I'm starting to think of small conversions/modifications for them... anyone have any ideas?  If you do, please share!

The project is getting better each time you post.

I also like the female scorpion and the farseer a lot. Those are very nice conversions.

Well, today I've officially "finished" my Striking Scorpions.  Again in my Off-white x Ivory scheme (with deep-grey for weapons/etc.)

Here's what my "Army" looks like about now.  2 Squads of Dire Avengers, and my one squad of Striking Scorpions.

Closeup of my Striking Scorpions.

It was my first time working with metal figures, and I kind of screwed up a bit... primer on too thick, and missed a few bits of flash that I only discovered while painting... not to mention attempting to re-do greenstuff AFTER I had primed a first layer D=.

An over-view shot.

Here's a few pictures of the Exarch.

I modified his Helmet and Scorpion Chain Sword just a bit, as well as raised the angle of the left arm to make it seem like it was shooting the Shuriken Catapault on the Scorpion's Claw.

Also, here are some closer shots of the Female Striking Scorpion.

The Scorpion on the left is the converted female, and the one on the right is the original stock product that it was converted from.  All the same parts were used in both models, and I'm very happy how the female turned out.  It looks completely different from the original!

That said, the reason why I picked this model to use was because, the Striking Scorpion box set comes with five regular Striking Scorpions and one Exarch.  These two were originally the same, and I wanted to modify one just a bit to make all the Scorpions in my squad unique.

Here's another shot of the female Scorpion.

I have also begun work on some of my Seer Council and begun magnetizing my Wave Serpent.  However, I have decided to try my hand at the 40k Online Conversion Competition hosted by Dux Aurelius Elysius as seen here http://www.40konline.com/index.php?topic=180484.0, and will be entering my Farseer conversion for this competition, when it starts on the 9'th of April.  As such, this blog will see a slight hiatus, and my progress with the Farseer conversion can be seen here http://www.40konline.com/index.php?topic=181048.0, instead.

Also, please vote for me =3.

Fantastic job! I love the scheme and may steal it for my own Eldar!

You say you use an 'Ivory' color, is that the name of an actual Vallejo paint, or just a description type of the color. Regardless it looks like a surprisingly quick scheme to get completed. Love it! Keep it up yo!

Yes, the name of the paints are "Ivory" and "Off White."

Sorry to bring back an older thread, but would you perhaps be able to whack up a painting guide for complete beginners? I absolutely love this scheme but just cannot get it down.

Okay, I hope no-one gets upset, however I noticed you said you really struggled for a pose with your Dire Avenger Exarch with the Power weapon and Shimmer Shield....

Have you considered instead of an Eastern look like with the warlock going for a Spartan type look, with the crested helmet and the spear/glaive type power weapon you could add an actual shield (must be a nice one from fantasy that you can use) but give it a sort of shimmering/energy field paint job... Having the Dire avenger holding it in front of him and the spear arm extended in a stab like motion... Maybe alter the legs so he has a more wide stance....

So yeah, sorry If I have resurrected a dead thread but it was just an Idea.
