How long before we start doing 8th ed list building comps?
« on: June 23, 2017, 05:40:58 AM »
There's n argument to wait a while until we've got a fair few games under our belt and had a chance to really absorb the new rules

On the other hand early list building comps could provide invaluable info for players trying to climb the steep learning curve

..or we could do a couple of early ones and then pause for a bit.

What would you guys prefer?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is list building comps?
I fight against Chaos and for Order, because it means fighting for Life against Death. There is no other battle truly worth fighting.

During your absence, Volatilegaz ran a series of army list building competitions, with the overall winner (the person who won the most individual list building competitions) receiving a prize of dubious quality ;).  The results of the previous competition are here.

So I set a challenge -say build the best 2,000pt Ulthwe list.
We all get a couple of weeks to post & refine our lists.
Then Irisado posts a poll, and we vote on the winner.

We did maybe a dozen of them during 7th ed. It was pretty good fun, and prompted quite a few interesting discussions around unit efficiency, tactics, and fluff.

Some of the lists even made it to the table.

Sounds like a lot of fun! And it is a brand new edition, prime for messing around with lots of new lists.

Thanks for explaining! :)

As for me, I'm absolutely for the early comp or two! Especially since list composition is just the thing that takes up 80% of my free time now anyway, as I need a clear, solid and efficient list variant to aim for before I commit to painting any new units. I'm sure it's more or less the same for many people out there too.

So, what your saying is it's not your fault you look stupid by using words you don't get?

OK, good stuff. I'll try and post the first one up later today.
