My ulthwe army
« on: September 30, 2014, 10:45:55 AM »
Hey guys I'm not the greatest painter but I'm learning and getting better. My most recent models are the wraithlord, jetbike and crimson hunter. Everything else I painted when I was like 14 about 10 years ago. So here's what I have painted so far, stay tuned for more as I still have another vyper, 2 warwalkers, 2 wave serpents and a wraithknight coming up

This army looks awesome! I love bone colored Eldar.... and the original Eldar dreadnought in bone looks absolutely classic! I really like the ratio of bone-to-black in these models too. Very nice paint jobs and really cool selection of models. Can't wait to see the newer models. Thanks for sharing Rx8 I was wondering what your army looked like after reading about your army lists and battle reports. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Cav! Means a lot coming from you as your army looks wayy nicer lol. I'm thinking my next project I will be tackling my wave serpents because they start on the table. I already have the pilots/cockpits painted so that's one less thing to do :P

Man this looks awesome! Could you perhaps show us some in came photo :D that would had more depth to your armi ^^ next is i like the over all look and i feel the wraithlord do fit really nicely in there, wich is something i would not have if he was alone don't like the full wraithbone color style even if it fit really well when speaking about backcround. Sorry but i just don't line wraithbone. Do you have any clue of where i would be able to find a similar heavy support weapon platform? Really need something for my farseer to use as a jetbikes aswell :D the paint job is also real nice  so hoping to see more ofbthose coming up ^^ expecting the wraithknight a lot ^^ keep up the good work :)

I have to agree with Cavalier here: your black-to-bone ratio's are spot on. Really nice looking army.
Try taking some pictures in daylight though, it might help to get better quality photographs.

It's been a while since I've been playing and painting fantasy for a bit. Here's my wave serpent. It's not done yet. I still have to paint the turret and highlight the black on the main chassis plus a few other details. I've also still got to put 'ard coat on the gems to make them glossy. I plan on distinguishing between my serpents on the table by having different colored gems on the shield generator. This one is green and the next one will be blue, then maybe purple

was just thinking. Do you think I should change the little gems on the shield generator to green as well?

These are looking great Rx8! The bone and black both look super smooth and again the ratio is spot on! Love the multi-colored gems. BTW are you rocking End Times in fantasy? If so whats been your experience... and what army are you playing?

I would personally have added a bit more bone on the turret weapons, just to differentiate them from the hull they're hovering over - to show that they're there just a bit more.
I'm sure it's easily visible in real life, but when you look at a tank at a glance your eyes should be drawn to what are the important bits easily. You do that very well with your differently colored gems on the serpent shield generator, and the underslung shuriken cannon springs into the eye fairly well too. The twin-linked scatter-laser less so, I'm afraid.

aha ya no I'm not leaving it like that. I said I hadn't painted it yet, was just kind of a wip shot. Here an up to date shot. just have a bit more black to highlight and I've got to paint the rear hatch.

oh wow, yes, this looks awesome.
I'm still in love with the green gems on the serpent shield generators. I think that was an excellent idea with an excellent execution. The turret looks great as well now, and the highlights are neat and crisp.
I'm rather jealous of your wave serpent and ever more eager to get one of my own :)

Thanks I take jealousy as a huge compliment ;) Here's another pic:

Still got black panels on the back and around the left engine to highlight and I still have the engines to do. I also still have to do the round things that look like gems but aren't as well as the round bottomed pointy things. Anyone know what those are supposed to be?

I was just looking at some pics on google and what a lot of people do is justpaint it the base tank's color (so black for me) and then put a craftworld design from the transfer sheet on it. I've never used a transfer sheet before but I've heard they can really be a pain. I think i'm going to try that, should look good

Little tips with the transfer sheet. Paint in medium then put your things on and then paint in medium over it again this should give you a nice aspect^^ try it somewhere else before doing the random things i suggest as i can't tell you much as i never tried this yet. A frirnd of mine did it and it looks awesome but can't be to sure you know ^^
