Vote now...
If there is anything that recent politics has taught us, it is that quotes taken out of context can mean what ever you want them to.

Everyone on this list would be a very worthy winner.  It was very difficult to make a choice here.

It is a sign of the times I suppose that none of the nominees actually posted in the painting forum.

All in painting blogs?

At least I post in the painting forums... except no one nominated me :'(

With the project board, there is absolutely no need for me to do so.

Exactly Killersquid hence my sign of the times comment. The Project Board is making a lot of this sites long standing Boards redundant. No need to post in the Conversion, Painting or Campaign and Battle Report Boards just post in a blog.

I think as dog_of_war sort of suggested next year awards will probably need a Best Blog award.

It's just far easier to have one ongoing thread, then tons of individual ones. Especially if you're always working on things. Not really sure how to make those boards as relevant again.

I suppose as bluew's Necron force and GML's Primarch shows the Painting Board still has some relevance for some members but overall I agree with you and somehow the Painting Board does not seem as relevant as it used to.

The idea behind the Painting board is for people to answer questions or provide other assistance to members who need help with their painting skills or just want tips.  It's secondary function is to showcase one off painting projects or painted models.  The Project Blogs board is for ongoing projects over long periods of time.  As a result, the two serve different functions, which is why merging them would not be logical.

The best painter award technically ought to include blogs as it stands.  If more clarity is needed to ensure that this is understood, an explanatory note could be added to next year's forum awards.

What Iri said, basically.

I think the painting forum is there for specific 1 off pieces in addition to being a one stop shop for questions, queries and how to articles.

I'm planning to do a few how to type articles at some stage (when I get off my arse and write them). If people want particular guidance - such as airbrush work, or how to paint a good face (I'm looking at you now Cav!), that should be the place to do it.

If painters have ongoing projects, or a series of works, the project board is absolutely the correct place for that too.

Personally, I prefer the painting board because it helps me focus on a single project at a time.  The closest I came to a panting blog style thread was my Harlequins.  Also, if people are looking for inspiration on paint schemes and how to do some things, it helps to focus their search.

Using my recent work on Guilliman as an example.  If someone is looking for ideas on how to paint the model and they see a thread titled "Triumvirate of the Primarch," then they know they are going to see three possibilities in there - Guilliman, Cypher, or Voldus.  On the flip side, 10 pages of "Killersquid's projects" may be daunting to go into, and you really have no idea what you will find in there.

There is also the angle that by pulling up a thread in the Painting Board, I know what I am getting.  I am either going to see the various stages of painting, from beginning to end.  For someone like me who has very little interest in massive conversion work, I don't particularly care to look at progression pictures of someone making a plasticard Stompa.

For me, the Painting Board will always be relevant.  Some people prefer to group all of their work in a single thread, others do not.  I am the latter and will keep flooding the board with new threads for new projects!  Besides, there may come a day when the front page is just covered in my threads, and I am narcissistic enough to be ok with that lol

I hadn't realised that the voting for all the categories had ended! Thanks for the votes people, it's an honour to have anyone think that my work is good, let alone 9  discerning members with an eye for talent porn bots that I paid to vote for me...really though, thank you, hopefully I can up my game and make 2017 better than last year.

Also, Cav...you got me 2 years ago, I got you this time. Rematch next year?*

*Although, between you and me, there's some ridiculous talent turning up on the PLOGs these days...I think our days may be numbered!!

Congrats to you Loosh! Very well deserved... especially considering I voted for you! Honestly you just killed it this year... so many awesome models completed to the highest standards. Yes I did win a couple of years ago and I never even realized it! Yes we have stiff competition going forward for sure... but yes I stand ready for an epic year-round painting battle. May the battle of the brushes commence  8) 8) 8)

Very well deserved Loosh!
I had a really tough time deciding whether to vote for you or Cav, in the end went for you as your attention to detail really is amazing as is your eye for tones.
Really well done!
I'll have to up my game for this year!
