Spoils of War is Vanguards very own team competetive campaign weekend.

A wide selection of Forgeworld units permitted.
Teams based on the codex.
Tactica cards
Choose your own tables
No list submission before hand (we trust you on this one)
£25 per place. Or a one day pass at £15 for the Saturday or £10 for the Sunday.
Rulespack here: EXTERMINATUS PAGE (http://www.bristolvanguard.co.uk/Bristol_Vanguard/SPOILS_OF_WAR_-_EXTERMINATUS.html).
Watch this space for further details! Rulespack will follow but this is a great event, check out the pictures of last year's (http://www.bristolvanguard.co.uk/Bristol_Vanguard/Spoils_11_Games.html) campaign weekend which was themed with rules and terrain for the necrons! Ooooh pretty terrain! ;D
-
Tempted. Will give me a short-term goal to whip my army into better shape.
Will the teams be pre-determined, or worked out on the day?
-
Worked out on the day previously, which I believe is the plan this time. We have a cunning system which makes this work much more smoothly than you might think.
-
Is it 'Imperium vs Everyone Else'?
-
Ooh, first weekend in November, I'll have to see what I'm up to...
-
Its sort of imperial vs but the lines get blurred.
You will love it. :)

Definately love this.
Went last year had a blast :)
Will apply for time off!
-
Definitely would be interested in this, will have to check availability on my rosta but will definitely put this in my calendar.
Koval what might be your travel plans?
Oink... why havent you posted on this yet, hope you could make it too?
-
The trouble is that campaign weekends (or weekend long events in general) don't fit well for me. I'd love to, I enjoy campaign events more than tournament ones that's for sure... but I can't say that I would be able to make it :(
-
Koval what might be your travel plans?
My travel plans involve seeing if I've got a job by then, as if I do, they might not appreciate me taking a long weekend off just to go gaming. If I'm still temping or I'm unemployed over that weekend, though, then it'll be much easier.

well, its normal for new employers to honour existing "holidays" booked prior to employment...
-
On the one hand that's true, but on the other hand I'd like to see how the current batch of applications pans out first. It may be that I'm still temping come November, in which case I'll have accrued holiday-time anyway.

I believe what Oink is trying to say that she who must be obeyed would not be happy? :P
Or as Mutley would say he is a Nancy (Sorry Oink could not resist ;) )
-
lol, well, yea, I suppose! But it's also that with me working relatively long hours the weekends are the only real quality time I get with my son (and "the boss").
As it happens, I've been informed that we have at least one wedding to go to in November, and we think one of them may be on that weekend.
-
Well tell them to reschedule the wedding :P
Or send a proxy of yourself.
Maybe a life size cardboard cutout that the boss can tug along and put beside her whenever you should socialise.
Just remember to be smiling politely on the cut out :P
-
Or send a proxy of yourself.
Careful.
Tarrin did that at the last event and look how that turned out...
Pure, unadulterated sulliment.
-
If I can put my thread back on the rails for just a few minutes, I'd like to point out that we've had an update in ticket policy! You can buy one day tickets to only attend part one day!
So get in there Oink!

And Oink does not have excuse now...unless wedding is on saturday and he'll be so hung over from partying ;)

Hmmm so then Oink would become uhm the sullied n...y?
-
Oink you need grow a set and tell her you are going
to spoils.
Do what i do, let her walk all over you for a
month before and then sneak your balls out of her handbag.
Works every time :D
hayo have you thought about moving here?
-
hayo have you thought about moving here?
Actually I have lol.
Seeing as:
1- I love the country and the peeps :)
2- I simply love English women :)
Cons:
Have job here....and a well paid one (for someone with no uni education) that I rolled into 13 years ago :)
Rare to get a contract for unlimited time now a days.
And with only working 4 days a week I get paid +/- 1750 euro cash every 4 weeks...for doing practicly nothing more then watching vids online, being online here and occasionally helping a customer that needs to sign in :)
-
Spoils is great fun. I will be reserving my place tonight. I will be going with a band of merry gamers. This will be my third event and the highlight of the gaming calendar.
Drinks planed for the Saturday night too. Where is it we head to Hiyo? They do good burgers and beer and girls for you to oggle over. :-*
-
The more I think about it, the more I think it may actually be possible for me to book the preceding Friday and following Monday as holiday... I'll wait until I get paid before doing anything though.

The place to go is The Crown pub :)
I'll most likely book at Clifton House again :)
Nice rooms, good staff and walking distance of the city center :)
-
Or as Mutley would say he is a Nancy (Sorry Oink could not resist ;) )
damn, you beat me to it!

Technicly not...seeing as I said what you would say ;)
Update: Time off approved...now wait for cash day and order ticket :)
-
Original post now update ls with link to rulepack and details on buying tickets are within.
We take PayPal, cheque by post or cash (if you're local enough!).
-
Can I put down an INSANELY tentative maybe? I've definitely got the money to attend, but travel/ sleeping arrangements are going to be a key issue/ snake on a planesonofabe-atch to sort.
-
I should go to this.
I don't get enough 40K game time in, due to very few friends who play the hobby and other hobbies taking up my week.
It's local, and I'm not acting those days.
Yes I think I will go.
Will confirm soon.

It's a good event, being a relaxed weekend compared to some of the more cutthroat events so might be good to attend.
-
I now have my place booked.
If anybody from out of town wants a lift from town pm me for interest.
-
Just to confirm in case anyone was wondering, the new Codex: Chaos Space Marines will indeed be in use for the Spoils weekend! Looking forward to seeing you all there!
-
Any plans I had to come along have just been scuppered by my grandparents deciding they had to visit that weekend. Unfortunately, my grandparents are not the sort of people you just say "no" to without seriously pissing them off. So I can't make it :(
-
Well Koval at least I dont feel so bad about not being given the time off work to go if I know you wont be there either.
-

Just take em along for a day off fun (I'll probably be yelling a lot of BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!!!!) ::)
Ticket bought hotel booked...now need to sort out flight!
-
Big sad face as I can't go.
Gotta trake a trip in the other dirtection and see my Brothers family.
stupid family :0(
-
Gotta trake a trip in the other direction and see my Brothers family.
This sentence is very confusing.
Good news... It turns out I do NOT have a wedding on either of those days.
Bad news... The wife has apparently informed me that it is her nans birthday and we are to attend a family birthday party at her parents house. This sucks, mostly because her mum's party hosting skills are relatively lacklustre mostly because her culinary skills are definately worse than that! mini sausages a buffet does not make. I have tried to suggest that I do not actually need to be there, but apparently I have already agreed to be... I can only assume that I was caught off guard in a erm... semi-sleepy state.
-
Zilverscale, well done.
Everyone else, poor show! Stuff being more important than playing toys indeed. ;)
-
Thanks Hymirl!
Hmm Oink did She Who Must Be Obeyed make you a Nancy???? ;)
Put ya foot down like a real Ork :P
-

I'm going to have to take a drive one weekend to beat you at 40k and restore my not so good name!
In any case; it's not because she wears the trousers... it's because she wears the lingerie.

you cant do that! i've been enjoying calling you a nancy these past months, even more so now that other people are joining in :P
-
The rules pack is down, any idea where i can get a look at another one? Might have to have a look, funds could mean this is a worthy venture...
-
This sentence is very confusing.
My poor spelling doesn't help I'll admit. To clarify
I live in London. I have to travel this weekend, East to Suffolk to see my brother. Vanguard is I believe in Bristol, the West. Hence I will be travelling in the opposite doirection.
Shame as I really wanted an excuse to visit Bristol and see you guys at Vanguard and this would have been a great opportunity.
Any future events planned ??
EDIT: just visited the Vanguard website (very swish) and seen Vanquish is held April Time. Its In The Diary...
-

Hehehehe fantastic reply Oink! :)
Well put your foot down for the Vanquish tourny then in April ;)
And you are always welcome to drive to Zaandam, just above Amsterdam, for a game of 40k ;)

this one? (http://www.bristolvanguard.co.uk/Bristol_Vanguard/Spoils_2012_rulespack.html) it seems to work ok for me...
I've just bought my ticket, I'm not needed as staff for this one! :D

I think the bit that confused me was your "brothers family". it didn't occur to me that you might not have meant "brothers parents"...

To be honest its not the first time my Jeremy Kyle worthy family has caused confusion.
On topic, well sort of, when roughly does Vanquish take place? (when is April I mean)
-
On topic, well sort of, when roughly does Vanquish take place? (when is April I mean)
Just after March, just before May.
You're on a roll of foolish posts! can't wait to see what you come up with next! lol

When *in* April I meant and O:nk, I think you knew that...
-
Normally near the beginning of the month, usually the first full weekend. Normally.
Oink, stop being a meany. You're in no position to mock people when you have a lame 'party' to go to.
-
Thank you Hymril, I knew I could rely on you for a modicum of sensibility.
EDIT: I have provisionally pencilled in the first 14 days of April as a "non-bookable event space" so my wife doesn't plan another riviting day trip to the garden centre.

corrected your spelling mistake ;)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Poor Oink...wonder if you will ever live it down that nickname :)
As to Vanquish I'll be attending again 99% sure :)
-
Vanquish sounds more feasible as if my family know sufficiently far in advance, they won't double-book. Hopefully.

Sounds like you and me you and O:nk have similar issues....

you have the same issues as oink? You mean your a nancy to?

Mutley, if you keep on with that, you'll kill the joke. Y'know, if it's not dead already.
-

well hes finally challenged me now so i wont get to say it for much longer
plus i think it died a while ago, proberly coz i've been saying it since june (i think)
-
Yep, the joke is past it's prime, it's gone, let it go, trust me it's for the best.
-
That second link works thanks, the first just 404's on me.
I'll have a look at the calender and the wallet, if i can afford this, i'm definitely in.
-
Well, it was a great event and lots of fun. I'm sure Zilverscale will agree as soon as he gets time to get on the computer after his flight home!
I've written battlereports about the sisters of battle and their daring efforts, over here (http://www.40konline.com/index.php?topic=224502.msg2710381#msg2710381).
The next tournament in Bristol is the beginning weekend in April. So put it in your diary and come along!
-

Definately! :)
To bad my FW Bloodthirster felt the need to artisticly chop off heads and play baseball with each as he chopped em off (horrendous dice rolling on my part :'( )
But next year my commission will be playable according to the artist doing it ;)
So we will see how that goes then 8)
-
You should've got me to do it... plus I could have used it as an excuse to be there too... hand it to you in person on the first morning! lol!
I must say, I am enjoying reading your report Hymirl... especially when your cannoness killed a chaos lord with a grenade. "Like a hero".
I want to hear more from others now too!
-
I see you liked my battle report enough to comment in the actual thread! Oh wait no, you left it so I look like johnny no mates... Cheers for that!!
And yes, you missed a chance to beat me, it's much easier to do that when I'm not using awesome white scars! (Which may or may not actually be an awesome army at all)
-
well i caught the first post when you were part way through and wanted to post then but thought it rude to interupt your flow! now i'll just make you feel like your talking to yourself! hehe!
sounds like the sisters were doing pretty well though... all things considered.
-
I know, I completely forgot this was happening.
Darn. Next time, and at least then I have time to paint one or two more models.
Maybe.

Vanquish is up in first weekend of april ;)

You don't want to hear mine, unless it's my first battle where I lost to a tank shock on the last turn after winning all the way through the game. (That was my best game of the weekend (Results wise.)) It was great fun and I'll be back next year for revenge! (As long as I can make it.)
And yes, you missed a chance to beat me, it's much easier to do that when I'm not using awesome white scars! (Which may or may not actually be an awesome army at all)
They are awesome. Except when three Plasma cannons killed their owners in the same unit in the same shooting turn. I think that was my only slice of luck in that game.
-
It was a great event, ran super smooth as always. I won every round too which I am made up about. Although some of my gigantic monstrous creature opponents did make it a tough ride ::)
Good fun in the evening too at the Crown. Necrons should have taken the event ;D
Rob
-
I agree :)
Crons were doing good but they had a set back I believe? ;)
(must have been all the lubricants they consumed at the crown :p )
