Topic: I've tried to fight it but ... (Riptide)

... I'm looking to get a Riptide. They're just all over the fluff currently. In some stories they're rampaging through armoured companies and in others a particularly troubled singular White Scar is tearing the suit a new one till it goes boom and all that's left is the crying. This is ignoring the Imperial Knights who go in guns blazing leaving smoking boots and a slight metallic taste on the tongue (as one does).

So, all I want is one to make an appearance, it's not there to do all that much other than hopefully shoot something one or twice. Still, not a huge fan but hoping it grows on me.

I'd follow Wyddr's advice but as for the secondary weapon I tend to pack the fusion blaster but any of the three choices seem to be quite fine. All in all I think the balance of the Tau battlesuits are quite alright in Damocles, Riptides are nasty but they are also limited which seems fine to me.

I prefer Smart Missiles, since Ripple Firing Smart Missiles are a thing of beauty and the range is long enough to complement your long-range main gun.

I'll probably be keeping the SMS as I like them as well as avoiding closing to range not within my comfort zone if possible.

The Shape of the Hunt had Riptides being treated somewhat cruelly by the White Scars. A story that also had the failsafe detonator used to dramatic effect.
