um, so we can play more battles over all.

There's probably gonna be more people at the next one, and not only that, people wanting to play 1500pts. Something has to give if we still want a decent number of games, so i reckons we only have 400pt battles in the play offs. Get some quick games in before the epic battles. :)

So what's with the 400pts thing, if we can play several 1k battles?

I HATE COMBAT PATROLS!!!!!

sorry but this is the reason i'm not going to conflict this year!

And I'm not sure how my Mechanised Biel Tann would cope at 400pts

Seeing as though I'd be allowed my 1 vyper, and everything else would be footslogging into heavybolters...

But I'll play what is decided on.

as for the points value thing, i think we should have an escalating thing.

Ie.
play offs: 400pts
semis: 1000pts
finals: 1500pts

Everyone can play one or two 1000pt games and single 1500 pt game if they like to determine their final ranking (the winners will obviously have to). This ensures that the most important games have the proper depth, without the opening matches dragging on and thus stopping folk from playing lots of people.

Its a nice idea and thank you for the suggestion. However most people are dead against playing 400 point games and would much preffer to play larger battles. We will have access to Errionds Gaming club for 8 hours, If we are organised this should give us pleanty of time to play a decent amount of 1500 point games.

Yup I'm up for this. I'm with the "Bristol lot" so I'll probably head down with Hymril.

Either 15th or 22nd April is fine for me, no preference as yet.
Definite no to 400 point games; 1000, 1500 or 2000 would be fine. :)

Ah, thats two then. Theres another whos on 40KO whos at my gaming club (handily linked below) so we might hit the heady heights of three - I'll be able to check on thursday.

Anyhow I too hate combat patrol, 40k in 40min is 40 minutes wasted in my book. If you want small battles play necromunda; its actually good unlike diet-40K, or 40K 'lite', or 40K decaff...

Might I suggest a time limit for the games as well.  Say, 2.5 hours each?  Maybe a little less?  I know at the last tournament I played it was 1500 points and we didn't have a whole lot of time, definately not more than 2 hours, but we still got most of the games done, or atleast into the final stages.
This way, with 20 tables, if you get 40 people playing(which is a BIG number) you can
do..
40
20
10
5
...
..

wait..so, maybe a little less than 2 hours per game..

I think that 1000 or 1500 for every game is best. If you keep the same number of points for every game it means that there are a lot less random army list sheets flying around all over the place, which can get very confusing at times.

Ooh, tournaments, i like tournaments. And its in London, and when I'm back from uni! Can't get more convenient then that. If i am to play 1000 or 1500  point battles would be optimum, as i would be looking to field my deathwing possibly (as they are all fully painted). However not sure if i expect them to perform that well against Eldar... AP2 everywhere :|

Slight tactical point, how would a horde of men deal with 10 Leman Russ'?

Yeah.

And the club is open for 8 hours, so what times are people thinking of starting the tourney?

i do like the idea of an escalation style tournament... though understand the issues regarding it. on a personal note i love 40k in 40 mins... it shows that one can make army lists at all levels and play and win games using often unusual units and without the aid of the expensive stuff, its also hard to be beardy and therefore is more fun.

remember guys, thats what this is supposed to be about.. having fun... so consider such things before you decide to field an uber army that your opponents may consider to be cheesy... anyone fielding three wraithlords will be shot on site for instance!

Well I'm sure my mechanised eldar will be balanced out by my expensive fling seer council and my inability to make sound tactical decisions....

Right, so I play Alaitoc, which's a bit cheesy, but there's probably someone here who fields a 3 wraithlord/basalisk/monolith army here?  Wouldn't be too surprised.  I hope aspect warriors won't be needed much.  I love my Vypers!

My ranger army will need tactics to be worked on.  I excel vs non-hordes & non-eldar.

Are forgeworld things allowed?  I've got a Phoenix packing here, ready to blast away.  Anyone else bringing Imperial armour stuff?

I reckon I'll be the youngest there.  I'm 16, & short for my age.  Damn it!

im sure armoured company users will be icthing to say yes, but i think that in the fairness of rulse we should really say no. only codex stuff allowed... and i guess chapter approved as long as you bring alongthe printed pdf version of the rules...

alaitoc isnt that cheesy.. thats what i used last time.. though pauk777 would say otherwise!

with all these hard and fast armies appearing i might have to stick with my eldar to stand a proper chance.
