*Possible* 40K Tournament in East London .
« on: April 4, 2008, 08:31:14 AM »
I'm starting this thread to see if there would be any interest in attending an event hosted by my club . The committee is a tad hesitant to host one , fear of low turnout being the main reason .

No date has been set , this is just me testing the water for research purposes . So , if you were available to participate , could/would you be able to make it to Wanstead , East London ?

The format will be : 1500Pt's  GT rules , maybe bonus points in every mission if I get any say in the matter ( not likely  :P ) , 4-6 games spread over Saturday/Sunday . There may ( note may ) be WFB/Hordes/Flames of War involved as a separate event .

So , anyone interested please post here .

A couple of the Vanguard could give it a thought, I'd suggest looking at dates for other events being run as you don't want to clash too close to anything that lots of players would be keen on attending.

As a side note, I can say first hand that running a tournament is scary stuff when you're in the planning stage and wondering 'what if no-one comes?" We definatly wish you the best of luck though, its definatly a good feeling when it all manages to work ok.

If you could maybe do a bit of enquiries around there and post your rough findings here , that would be great .

As for running a tourney , the club's been doing it for ages , but left last year out after the low 40K turnout the year before . Hence the hesitancy .

GT rules... so no fudge world then :(

Definitely . Even though the FAQ for the Anus Inferno Shell fixed it up good and proper with absolutely no brokenness remaining [/sarcasm], there are a few small things with FW rules that are not well thought out . Plus this way everyone will be aware of what to expect .

All depends on the date... distance probably wouldn't be an issue as we go up to nottingham a couple of times a year, and to Reading/Cardif now and then too. If you wanted to keep our club updated then drop a mention in our forum somewhere, also the warhammer forum is a good one as thats quite focused on the UK tournament scene.

Yes , the lack of date is a big sticking point . But not looking for solid gold plated signed contracts of attendance , just a simple " if it's on a weekend that I'm free I will definitely be able to attend " . Date can always be done later , with at least 2 months advertising/warning time ( I hope :P ) . Thinking realistically it will be Aug/Sep/Oct time .

it would be a very different environment to the 40Konline "tourney", which is good.

* Thread Necromancy alert !*

Been a while , but being the sneaky Eldar player I am , been doing a bit of cajolling in the background and was told last night there is a strong consideration to hosting the event end October / beginning November .

So , with a date semi-sorted , is there still interest ?

P.S - Will be a 40k/WFB combo .
