Legion of the Damned question

Can the Legion of the Damned only be used by vanilla marines?

If so, what are there rules if they accompany your original army?

And, what unit do they have?

Good question.  I think that any Space Marine army can include a single Legionnaire squad as an Elite choice.

As for that battle report in WD 236 with the Imperial Fists and Eldar, I'm not sure how that works.
