Curious about allies
« on: August 13, 2007, 01:13:09 AM »
I'm looking at reworking my current space marines army into a Daemon hunter force to spice it up a bit.  Throw an inquisitor in there with a couple of squads of Grey Knights and a GK termie unit.  My question is what kinds of chapters historically have a tendency to work with the Inquisitors.  I know that the Inquisition has the right to command any imperial force, but I'm looking to see if there are some that are requisitioned more than not.  I'm going to be re-painting my army to fit this theme (maybe in a long standing expedition or something of the like) and would like some input.  Thanks!

The relictors are often picked by radicals (for obvious reasons), whilst I don't know of any others that have long standing pacts with the inquisitation. Though there's nothing stopping you creating your own chapter to go with them. Something like Black Templars (though you can't use their rules in the DH codex)would fit the theme nicely. Plus I've just thought you can't field both marines and Grey Knights in a DH force, but you can field GKs as allies to a marine force (confused? why one way and not the other is beyond me...). The long and short of it is its probably easier to create your own.

Yeah...I caught that.  I was going to add the DH to my army.  I don't get it either.

I know that there are chapters that the Inquisition would more likely be investigating than requisitioning (i.e. Soul Drinkers).

All in all I'm terrible with making up stuff and fluff to go along with creating a chapter.  I kinda wanted to go with something that had been around for a while.  Kind of like the campaign in Dawn of War or possibly something like the relationship between the Iron Hands and the Tech Adepts of Mars.  But DOW has probably been overdone, at least in my opinion.

Its difficult to know what to suggest there are so many named chapters. The Fire Angels (involved in the Babab war - get your hands on an old (very old) white draf compendium to see) have appropiate iconography (a buring cross - maybe more WH) and fought on the loyalist side of the war. They are white with red rims - easy to paint to.

I believe the chapter you are looking for is the "Red Hunters."  i think they were created by the Inquisition, but not sure check Wikipedia.  as far as there symbol is a skull with the Inquisition I.  Check it out at

as far as the Allies rule is used so that some one can't use more than 2 codex.

For example: i use DH codex take allied space marines with Witchhunters as allies.
