Policy Regarding Spoilers
« on: February 26, 2005, 06:18:21 PM »
Ok, its about time I wrote a few guidelines concerning spoilers. Spoilers can easily annoy people who wish to be surprised in by there games, so its probably not a good idea to come onto these boards and start randomly spoiling peoples games. Anyway, here come a few rules.

1) Firstly, if you wish for a discussion on a game, and your not concerned about being Spoiled, say so in the Title. Put 'Spoilers' in the main title. This should be taken as a warning that this thread will contain spoilers on that game. Do try to keep any spoilers on topic.

For Instance, having a topic title like this 'KOTOR 2 Discussion - Spoilers' is fine. Any people not wanting to be spoiled have a clear sign in that regard. Furthermore, NEVER put a spoiler in the main title of the thread. The titles can be seen by all.

2) If, on the other hand, you want a discussion about a game and want to avoid spoilers, also say so. Put 'No Spoilers' or 'SFZ' (thats Spoiler Free Zone) in the title.

3) If you need to put up something that could be considered a spoiler in any other thread, remember to hide it. This can be easily acheived by using the Change Color drop down menu when posting. Copy and Paste Coding in the linked post

4) Failure to abide by these rules will result in the post being deleted.  We aren't going to trouble ourselves with clearing up mistakes that you leave behind, the rules have been set out and you can easily just copy and paste the coding for posting a spoiler.  There's really no excuse.

Here's a better way to hide it:

I rule for coming up with this.

Just make it red and glow red ;)

The glow should be the outer of the two, e.g.:
Code: [Select]
[glow=red,2,300]I rule for coming up with this[/glow]
There should still be a warning that it's a spoiler.

Because spamming the hotkey for a Deathknight's weapon in WoW is precisely the same as learning to use a sword in real life. That's why when Kendo grandmasters fight, they just stand there shouting keystroke combos at each other.

Alternately the colour to hide it on the darker backgrounds is read as E1E1E1 or =#E1E1E1 should word.

I have chosen to split this topic into two, so that the public debate will mean that this can remain stickied without it getting "spammed up" as it were.  The discussion is here, so if you guys have input, try and keep it there.  Also, I just came up with a synopsis name for it.  If you don't like it, feel free to (if you can) change it, or PM me asking to.

Or, if you're quoting, you'll have to change it to: #C3B8D0

I carry with me an Inquisitorial Seal. It is a small, unassuming object contained in a neat box of Pluvian obsidian. It is a modest thing. Relatively plain, adorned with a single motif and a simple motto. Yet with this little object I can sign the death warrant of an entire world and consign a billion souls to Oblivion.

I just see red text for that. No glow. So I think the other type will be better as I'm sure I can't be the only one with this problem...

If you want to post a spoiler on the board, simply copy this coding:

For spoilers in posts that have a light background
Code: [Select]
Spoiler Below:

T E X T  H E R E

For spoilers in posts that have a dark background
Code: [Select]
Spoiler Below:

T E X T  H E R E

For spoilers in quotes
Code: [Select]
Spoiler Below:

T E X T  H E R E

If you want to quote a spoiler, you're expected to change the coding yourself or you risk getting the post deleted for ignoring spoiler rules.

I've seperated this from the other thread so that it will, hopefully, get more recognition.
