Well after a couple of months without much to post I finally have a pic to show you all. Between selling our house, buying a new house and making a big move, Oh and of course becoming a new father all within the month before Xmas I haven't had much time to paint, but I have been picking at a commission I got just before Xmas.
Here is the first WIP, so far I have spent WAY TOO LONG on these guys, I would guess about 4 hours+ per mini. And only having for 2 to 6 hours a day to paint now, means this commission has dragged on much longer than I would have liked because I would like to get these guys into my customers hands ASAP. After finishing off 18 Marines I will have 18 demons (which I just got underway a couple of days ago), 5 Termies and 1 sorcerer. When will they invent the 48 hour day...
Obviously I have not finished the silver nor the gold on the weapons, and some minor details need to be done. I also plan on giving the yellow one more glaze to darken the recesses up a bit more as they really don't fit in with the rest of the scheme right now.
Oh and if you are wondering everything but the metal was done using my glazing technique.
Here is the piccie, sorry for the lack of cropping, I had a pic all edited and such, but forgot my thumb drive (since I no longer have access to the net where I live). I will repost the link tomorrow with that pic.

Looking great so far, did you made any close ups?
-
Hmmm, how about inscribing some chaotic runes on EACH of the golden strips on BOTH sides on their heads? No? Too bad ;D ;D
They look great so far. I think these headpieces is where your glazing approach falters or rather, don't save time anymore. I wander wouldn't it be easier to paint them solid yellow and then color shift blue stripes with mordian blue.
-
Yeah in hindsight it would have been faster to do it that way, I did it the other way around which wasted time since I had to go back and paint over the blue with a couple of coats of white before doing the yellow.. sigh...
Ah well I am still experimenting and developing this technique and eventually will have the bugs worked out of it. Overall I still think it is MUCH faster than painting these guys as per normal, since I would have probably taken about 20 hours per guy compared to the 4 I have done so far.

Here's a quick update with a WIP of a couple of Sorcerers, they are at the same stage as the marines above, silver and minor details needing to be finished.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv83%2FNoRemorse%2FWIPs%2FSorcerers.jpg&hash=cb9088003b766b419ea39641278fe3e1f1941b23)

Here's yet another update this time the first WIP from the squad of Demons.
The blue is yet to be finished, which only has one glaze coat on it, and I may correct some of the areas where the black glaze is a bit too thick on the purple. I also tried out some glazing to do highlighting on the purple bodies, they were a bit to uniform in colour and needed a pop, amazingly I found it worked profoundly well. The only real difference is that I used a very thin glaze with alot of pick, as opposed to a thicker glaze with little pigment which which I do most of my shading with.
Should be too much longer with these guys, maybe a couple of days if I can continue to get 4 or 5 hours in a day painting.

As always No Remorse beautiful work. Everything looks really good. I can't wait to see everything done and with bases on. A very good job with the Sorcerer's sword, nice and simple but very intricate all the same.
Keep up the good work and i hope to see more pictures.
I just wish the Thousand Sons would have chosen the Emporer's side
-
kk got the Demons finished up, except of course if my customer wants somethings changed.

-
Gruesome and therefore wonderful...
-
Really nice blending on the Demons. An off shoot question. What is your plan on bases for everything.
-
I like how your daemons look. I really do. ;)
I hope your traitor marines look better when they're done though, cause right now they look a little bland. :-\
-
What is your plan on bases for everything.
My customer sent me a urban basing kit, so I will be using that.
Yeah the marines look much better now, they are almost finished, just the gem stones to finish off, I will post a pic when they are complete.
-
I think I prefer the daemons before they got their teeth and tongues painted; they looked more intangible and ghostlike.

Funny, but me too. Whenever you have time and desire to experiment try these guys with your color scheme but bright green reverse highlighting (green in recesses)- looks really creepy.
-
love the green lightsaber sword.
I really like the ivory/gold bolters.
-
Been a while since I updated this Blog. I finished off the horrors and am about 1/3 of the way through of the termies. I decided to black line the marines so they will take a bit more time, I am just doing that in between working on other parts of the commission.
Here's the finished pic of the Horrors, except the bases of course

that toxic green is a real eye catcher!

that toxic green is a real eye catcher!
Really? I thought the toxic green killed the models, cuz it really isn't pleasant to the eyes nor a great choice in a comfortable color scheme.
BTW, those aren't horrors, those are flamers. Horrors are the one that looked like ghosts in your previous posts.
-
Looks fine to me, the green will make them stand out more than the standard flamers and I always thought orange and red were boring for flamers fire anyway. Keep up the good work No Remorse.

Their demons they should be unpleasant, so i think it is a perfect choice
-
How are you doing "Daddy" ** Congrats once again. **
The figures look good as usual; but I have reservations on the Fingernails as I think there is a little too much Yellow/Green ofsetting the Purple and Blues. Same goes for the Flamers, the Yellow/Green is nice; but it is a bit too profound and is taking over the Purple and Blue theme...
Anyway, can't wait to see more of them, and their bases. And please don't be offended by my comments, your still five times the painter that I am. PS the Gold on the Sorcerer is wickedly well done.

Great job on the blending, something I haven't gotten good at. >:(
-
OMG the daemons are amazing. Probably the best i've ever seen!
-
Thx for the comments. I am a real fan of the green yellow myself as it really makes the minis stand apart for the norm. I would have to disagree with you Ken that it overpowers the Blue/purple, in fact I think the opposite, that the green accentuates the purple/ blue because of the high contrast.
Great job on the blending, something I haven't gotten good at.
Blending! lol very little blending done on these guys, just an initial quick blend in the transitions then glazes all the way :D God I love glazes!
Btw since the board is now resizing pics to be 600px you can see the full size pic here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v83/NoRemorse/WIPs/TzeentchHorrors.jpg

Glazes certainly can rock; but there is something in me that still likes painting Inside Out.... Anyway, like I said, your five times the painter that I am, and thanks for the bigger pic, as they certainly do look better in larger life.

KK I finally have some half decent pics of the 1k Sons Marines. This is a pic of just one of the squads and not a great shot but you get the idea. I have some very very minor details to finish up on a couple of them (gems) and have to base them when I do the rest of the army.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv83%2FNoRemorse%2FWIPs%2F1kSonsFinalWIP.jpg&hash=a6524ebb33bc5121afe01dec027a7f9743c5fa38)

I haven't been able to get much painting in this week, only a couple of hours a day, life of being a new father lol. I have been able to get quite a bit done on the Termies though. All that is left now is the silver, the hand weapons and some minor details like hoses, eyes etc.
(https://www.40konline.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv83%2FNoRemorse%2FWIPs%2F1kSonsTermiesWIP.jpg&hash=983e858eead8f65bce7e701d512fc37e3bf17260)

Getting close to the end now! Well at least to the end of the first shipment I was sent. I finished off the termies this morning and actually got a half decent pic.
I absolutely love these guys, and it REALLY makes me want to start a 1k sons army of my own, or use these colours on my eldar.
My favourite thing about these guys is the sword with the runes, I had to do a repaint on it, but it urned out SO well the second time I was quite amazed if I do say so myself lol.
Enough chatter here is the pic

OMG those swords are amazing.... show a pic of the one of the far left with better resolution
-
Sexylicious (new word!)
Is it just me or does the terminators have a little lighter color armor? ???
-
Of course an amazing job! I need to keep practicing i think.
-
Your a Sick Sick man there No Remorse.... And I like it, A LOT.
WOW, awesome as always and they look so much better when done (Thought they looked a bit off to start with) as the colour ratios seam to have sorted themselves out.

SHHHHH.... no one was supposed to notice that lol. Yeah they are just one shade lighter than the marines.
show a pic of the one of the far left with better resolution
Can do, will post it tonight

How much conversion work did you do on the models before you painted them?
-
I personally didn't do any, it was all done by my customer. All that I know for sure that he did was give the two sword wielding termies their weapons.
-
Woah, these are very nice Sons. I would tone down the blue at bit, especially on the termins. Otherwise, well done.

I have finally had some more time to work on this commission. Here is a shot of the Sorcerer, which still has his mount to be finished, a disk of course.
Also I figured it would be good to show a couple of close ups of the swords since a few ppl have asked for them on various boards.

I think those are the blades used by the Tomb King giant walking statue things......not really sure what they are called but they have the head of on animal
-
they are the ushabti - you used to be able to bitz order them... :'( i still lament the passing of bitz ordering...
i must say - that is some incredible work - i notice a lot of commission painters on this site, and you seem to surpass most!!! im intrigued by the glazing technique you mention, where can i get more information on it?

He surpasses them all.
-
great freehand! and sorceror off course ;D
-
Almost done the first part of this commission, just have the bases left to do. After that I just have to sit and wait for two defilers and a DP.
I know some ppl will complain about the angle, but I had to do SOMETHING to make such a static pose mini into something dynamic and worthy of leading this army.

wow! thats a really useful tutorial, im looking forward to using this on my blood pact - im going to have a go at the red,
and i again stick by the same comment i made earlier, your work is far surpassing a million and one commision painters out there!!!!
love it,
Lee
-
nice flower is it pointing to the sun ::)
i would make the angle less becaus the figure is not even counter balancing (because it is static)
-
You make me feel bad... :'(
I wish I could do that! We want more! I especially want to see a defiler painted like that.
