What other post do I post them in..

Also, I just joined about a week ago,...so as for progress, I have one ork biker/boar nob done.  Will that suffice, or should I grind out a few models tonight?

Mod note; I would appreciate if you guys combined the two threads into one, and I think others might find it more friendly as well.

Is anyone still here? :o
Sorry for the delays on my part, A-levels kept me rather busy...
If you all are still interested, make your vows for Febuary but i have decided on a change of plan to give us more time - Febuary's models should be done by APRIL 31.

One thread, two threads... Fine with me

The mods have spoken.... Use this thread for everything.

When is the first vote coming up guys? Have all the pictures been submitted?

As i have been busy and there was a lot of late joiners last month, the first voting will come at the end of "Febuary"s painting.

quick update no pics....

finished the boars on two more of my bikers, and did the skin of about 4 nobz and two bosses.  I just couldn't get motivated to finish them, but I liked the colors I had made for the skin so I kept on with a few other models I had already basecoated.  I'll try to get some more done this week.

In this thread are the pics of my completed Eldar army, though I speed painted them in one day (9PM until 7:15AM before that tournament) so they don't look that great close up, but in these photos hopefully they look fine (by the way most of the work on the falcon was done in advance, so thats why it looks better, everything else was done right before the tournament). Pics are from my dad who was watching, I only uploaded the photos from my games.

^In the space next to the table (lower left of the picture) are my Jain Zar conversion and a warlock, I'll show more pics close up once I get around to touching them up with a nice paint job.

End of April is the deadline for the 2nd vow eh? That's cool, as I was away last week so got no paiting done. I've done a little bit on my second Assault Squad this week but I'll post some pics on the weekend to give me a bit more time to actually get some painting done!

Enlargingcloud, any chance of some close up pics of those Eldar? How'd you do in the tournament, by the way?

Sadly my dad took the pictures, and didn't take many close ups. I'll upload some closer pics once I start painting them up more nicely, as I speed painted all of my army besides the falcon and 2 of the 3 war walkers (you can see my list and a battle report of my first game here) http://www.40konline.com/index.php?topic=211293.msg2579718#msg2579718

I only have written a report for my 1st game (yet) which I won by a landslide, although my 3 other games I lost due to my personal mistakes much more than luck (and I am happy that I learned from these games). In the end I placed 58 of 63 or so players...so pretty badly but it was a lot of fun and I'll know better next time. It was my first tournament in 5th edition and I had no sleep, so I can't blame myself all that much. Painting score wasn't great and everyone gave each other near perfect sportsmanship (which was quite funny). All in all it was a great experience and I can't wait to attend the second tournament that they will be having in August.

Your stuff looks good from afar mr. enlargingcloud.

@Grandmaster Sanguinius
And ehm... Finished February's models per the 31st of April. Isn't that getting sort of unwieldy? It's also a little harsher for the people that did actually get their stuff sorted. With two new people in that have lists and others that have started working on a monthly basis I worry on how this is going to work. A tale of X armies needs some structure and progress to be interesting to follow after all.

Painty update:
I'm going to get blazing this weekend to finish my February stuff.

@ Cloud. Models look good from afar man, however, does this mean you are done? I mean, are you still taking part in the Tale?

The idea of finishing Feb's stuff by the end of april was a typo. i meant March.
However, the idea was put forward to me by a mate who is following this. Basicly it allows people to do bigger vows for "Feb" as well as giving the slower people time to paint stuff.
The Tale needs structure and it is easier to go for "Models must be in by the first of next month" than a random day in the middle. There will be more structure, commencing April 1st when i will come down on this and get it organised.

Two admin notes:

1) People, please edit your posts confirming you are in with your army lists, seeing as the Mods didnt like my double thread idea.

2) Jack Merridew, please post an army list here as per the rules.

@ Jack. Both :) Refer to the rules that i have reposted here for your convenience :P

Da Roolz:
1) This Tale is supposed to keep track of our armie's progress. For this to happen it has to run for a long while. I aim to keep this going until at least January 2012.
2) As this is an "Armies" tale, you need a list  <---- This is the little gimmik that makes it different to the monthly challanges.
Now, i dont really mind how many points your list is but it has to be legal. That is not to say you cant paint other stuff but they wont be counted towards your finished army...
3) The Finale: After this finishes, I propose we have some sort of prize system. What this is is up to you but my idea was that at that point, everyone still in the tale submits £5 or the equivilant via paypal to me and i will get the winner something with that money.
4) The Scoring: Each month, all members of the Tale will vote for the person whose painting has impressed them the most over that month. At the end of the year, all these votes will be counted and the person with the most votes wins  To keep this fair, those of you doing multiple units must state which one is up for judging. Vote come to me via PM or this thread. Bonus points are going to be awarded by me to those who complete their armies/units as they say they will.
5) The Painting: Each month you should state which part(s) of your army you plan to paint by highlighting it on your list in the apropriate colour. This is to help me give out the bonus points

Colour code: Red for WIPS/Current Projects
Orange for units that are still in the assembly stages
Green for completed units (so you can use the same units in different lists without confusion)
Black for units not bought or still in the box.
And a * Blue Star next to anything you've converted

I'm still taking part in the tale, I'm going to (somewhat slowly) get the models up to a standard that I want. I hope I'm not held to a month thing as school doesn't give me much time to work.

By the way in addition to making the units in my tournament army list painted better, I am going to work on making either of these lists look good.
http://www.40konline.com/index.php?topic=211352.0 also note that I converted my wave serpents' turrets from guardian heavy weapon platforms, so I have a falcon top to swap a wave serpent out for a falcon (so I won't be painting more tanks).

In total it will probably be around:
1 Eldrad conversion
1 Yriel/Jain Zar (yes I'm pushing it, probably not going to use Jain Zar for a while considering the lack of invulnerable save)
15-20 dire avengers
10 guardians
1 scatter laser dark reaper (stretch, but the model doesn't affect the game, and I made a cool conversion, no one has had a problem with it so far)
10 Warlocks (exodites)
6 Fire Dragons (I may buy more, but probably not)
4 Guardian Jetbikes (1 shuriken cannon)
1 Warlock on Jetbike
5 skimmer tanks (turrets will give me options, I'll be converting)
3 war walkers
1 Scorpion Wraithlord (painted somewhat nicely, but in need of new guns)

Below is the original post I made with my list. I'll also edit in some 'finished' and 'wip' pictures below
======
Since my progress can be slow I made the following list. At times I might only be able to paint a combat squad or transport in a single month. Either way I'm going to try and retain my goal of improving my overall painting skills, yet push myself towards a valid armylist of models I chose because I like the look of them. I added flavour text whenever available, note that part may change as i develop my chapter's backgrounds (which is a side project)

I do reserve the right to make minor equipment tweaks to some of the models, since I'll need to convert/build most of them and will go where inspiration will take me. Should i for some unexplicable reason manage to complete the list early I will take a vow of penitence which means the participants of the thread may make me a seperate challenge to add to my existing army.

I present you with a taskforce from the 5th company of the Astral Lions chapter. The taskforce is mid campaign and about to strike their adversery a decisive hammer blow.

HQ
Captain Cerus
Relic Blade, combi-melta (140)
Command squad, Apothecary, Company Standard bearer, Company Champion,
Veteran with powesword, Veteran with combi-melta (170)
Razorback (40)

Troops
Tactical Squad "Septimus"
10 battle brothers, meltagun, multi-melta, sergeant with powerfis (235)
Transported in a Rhino

Tactical Squad "Quintus"
10 battle brothers, flamer, heavy bolter, sergeant with power weapon (220)

Drop pod

Elite
Venerated Brother Dorsin, Saviour of Pax     *
Dreadnought with a multi melta, close combat arm fitted with a heavy flamer (150)
Drop pod

Sternguard "squad of uninspired shootiness"
10 Sternguard veterans, one armed with a heavy flamer, one combi-flamer,
two armed with a combi-melta. Sergeant with a powerfist and a combi-melta (375)
Drop pod

Fast Attack
Spear of Egregius
Land speeder tornado; Heavy flamer, multi-melta (70)

Heavy Support
Castigator, Vindicator (siege shield) (125)

Total points                                      1535

The cavalry
10 Vanguard Veterans with jump packs, to do something fancy with whenever I'm stuck or simply lost for inspiration. They will help me purge any lack of progress or possible xeno filth on my painting table with bolter, chainsword and righteous fury.   (XXX)
